Stamina, work rate, acceleration, aggression, anticipation, positional discipline...basically he has no where near the technical quality but he outshines Pogba in some of the more defensive qualities. They are different kinds of cental midfielders though, obviously.
It's fair to say by that list that you don't really rate Pogba.
No one in that list is better than him. The only one that comes close is Modric who is technically slightly better, however Pogba makes up for it with his physicality.

I stopped thinking that money is the problem here. What I do I think is happening is that we have it all agreed with Juve. It's the player holding out for Real Madrid, who won't pay near what we're paying. Now it's a waiting game to see if Juve agree to a lesser deal with Real for Pogba or not. It's not that Pogba wouldn't play for us, but Real Madrid are the clear favored destination for obvious reasons.
By this logic you'd say Bale in his last season at Spurs was better than Keane or Viera at the same age. You can't let goals be the deciding factor considering their different roles

You're going as far wrong in one direction as he is in the other. Modric, Kroos, and Busquets are currently better players, and arguably Verratti too.
As a number of people have said, it's a totally academic argument, since none of those players are available.

I would say that Suarez, Bale, Neymar, Muller and Messi are probably the only players I'd pay £100M or more for.
Notice that all these players are goal scorers/creators.
These players, upon arriving at a club, would be expected to provide immediate impact and probably the league title and a great performance in the CL.
I just don't believe that Pogba is the sort of player who can provide that sort of impact.
However, Jose knows more than me about football. If he has told his bosses that Pogba is worth £100M, then so be it.

This transfer may or may not happen, we've done some good business so far but this particular part of our window has shades of Moyes and Woodward window where we were chasing unrealistic targets missed them and ended up with feckin Fellaini on deadline day. Rate this is going pogba will stay or go to Madrid and we will end up with matuidi.

I think so too, but prior to Bale's last season I would take any of Pogba's seasons with Juve. Pogba still has a lot of upside too where as I had Bale almost as the finished product after that season. Then again, we haven't really seen him being the main guy with Ronaldo there. Bale has been a success since making the move.
The Marchisio pick from another poster was a bit strange considering Pogba was the one keeping Marchisio from playing as many minutes as everyone thought he would be getting. It's like he forgot it was Vidal, Pogba, and Pirlo making up the main midfield.

Eveyone's speculating and nobody has a clue - quite funny. We definitely need a dynamic midfielder so I hope we get him. Shame we bought Schweinsteiger on the decline otherwise we'd be OK.
I couldn't see Pogba dislodging Kroos or Modric in the team to be fair.
Now if they were to buy Pogba, i'd be more than happy to take Kroos or Modric off their hands.
Its not as simple as that though.
If you take Pogba out of the picture, United had been doing some shrewd transfer deals. Bailly does look a top quality defender for his age and we got him for 30m. We also signed a top quality forward who had some crazy stats in Germany for 27m and then there's Ibra for free. So why go for Pogba for 120m?
The main reason is that we need a player with those characteristics, there is no one available whose cheaper and the only available player around play with a big club who doesn't want to sell. Pogba may not be WC yet but he is a complete midfielder. He's relatively hardworking, he's strong, he's tall, he's technically gifted, he can dribble and he's got decent positioning. The second part is also important. The only player I can think of that become like Pogba is Sanches and senile did his best to hijack such deal. Finally we're dealing with a club who not only doesn't need to sell but if it does sell it will lose 20% of the deal to his agent.
I think to assess this deal you have to assess what Juventus are thinking as replacement. They went for Matic but they failed to get him and look set to spend 20m on Witsel or Matuidi. Is that the sort of players we would want in midfield?
You would be mistaken. Been plenty on here denying that
The extremes of the polar opposite opinions on Pogba are really silly. You've now got a bunch of people underrating him just because some overrated him. He's already a quality midfielder who's got the potential to be one of the best. He's not great at the moment, but it doesn't mean he's still not one of the best around, too. He isn't as good as a Modric, Iniesta, Busquets, Verratti etc yet, and isn't as important to Juve's midfield as Marchisio, but anyone who says the likes of Alaba, Koke, Fabregas, Fernandinho, etc are as good or even better than him are doing him a huge disservice. There's no need to go to one extreme to even out the other.
Career arc/momentum?
Go to Madrid now and it's difficult to see an ideal move for him at 27/28. By moving to United now for huge money he could still force a move for mega money later on and get his Madrid fix.
At 27/28, if he's moving from Madrid it will be a bit of a step down and PSG aside it will be difficult to get another massive pay day.
No it won't happen like that. He will perform at his highest level regardless. He might eventually move on to them unless we become the hottest team around in the next couple of years, but there's no resemblance between his personality and attitude to Di Maria's.
