Premier League Gameweek 7

Now here is something. Spurs win the league and we only have one twat to worry about (@GlastonSpur).
City or Liverpool do it and there are loads. C'mon Spurs.
Yeah, rather Spurs or Arsenal win it, then we only have to deal with their fans. In case of other two we will have all of City, Liverpool, Barca, Dortmund and Bayern fans spamming this forum.

Son really impressed me today. Reminds me of a young Shevchenko at Milan. Mobile as feck, Pulling wide, running the channels, two-footed finishing.

But if we think the margins are as small as two points so early in the season, then we must admit that the race is wide open. Six points with thirty-one games left to play.
5points if this score stays. Agree with your point. In PL until Christmas, these kind of point gap is not as huge as they seem come new year.

He plays world class like once every 8-10 games or so, he's so inconsistent. He's nowhere near consistent enough to be in that bracket, in my view. He's been there what six seasons? I wouldn't say having 3 very good seasons out of 6 puts him in the world class bracket at City. For some reason people refuse to acknowledge his inept displays, something someone like Mata doesn't get.
I think 8-10 is a bit harsh -- maybe that's true of him these days, though. In the past at least I recall him being at the heart of everything good that they did.

Spurs are not a better team than us because they have better player. They are a better team because they have a better manager. Nothing against Mourinho as I believe he is a great manager, but Pochettino knows the right way to play effective football. Similiar to Klopp and Guardiola.

This is just Pep's plan lads. Let them think they're good and than smash them.

Barcelona fan mode off.

Or the same manager for a few years. What about that?

Commentators saying they miss De Bruyne and that against us City had De Bruyne and Silva to find, as opposed to just Silva today. Whilst that is true, we went with a 4231 with fecking Pogba and Fellaini. Spurs, on the other hand, have matched City in midfield and have played with a high press, which has closed the spaces in the middle, thus stopping City from playing in between the lines.

I want to see physical battles between Antonio Valencia and Moussa Sissoko. Would be interesting to see because both are fecking walls.

Yep, definitely. Christmas is the watermark I generally use as well -- if you're in and about the race in December, you always have a chance. Or, put it this way, if we were 6-8 points off the top at Christmas, I'd be happy.

I was replying to a post claiming Guardiola has somehow been found out...

He looks miles ahead of Jose, irrespective of today's result against Spurs.
I know you did.
But lets see over a longer period what happens and if City will have a poor period too. The season is long yet.

Would be surprised if Pep doesn't get rid of Otamendi next season.

Agree.

But with our upcoming fixtures, do you fancy us to ensure the gap doesn't widen?

I think Celtic have shown the way. Get in their faces and press them relentlessly. They aren't anywhere near as good as Bayern or Barca, and so they make mistakes and you can get at them.

Remind me what have this great Poch achieved so far in his career?

Surely Gundogan replaces Fernando at HT.

Surprised he didn't start with him. Think after the Celtic game in the week, where they shipped three goals, and possibly could have been more, Pep wanted to try and solidify his team a bit more by putting in an extra defensive midfielder. However, it clearly hasn't worked.

Frustrating that we've dropped 5 points to Stoke and Watford, a real chance to close the gap. Need to beat both liverpool and chelsea, or i think we're out of the race, and its only October!

Hard to say. I wouldn't like to forecast it. I just think that a two week break is a blessing in disguise. It disrupts all semblance of form and continuity. That's worse for Liverpool than us at the moment.

Don't think we deserved anything from the Watford game, but the Stoke game really infuriates me. 3 points behind 'invincible' City at this stage would have been great.

Spurs are a much better team than us. Why can't we play this way at OT back then?

We did in the second half when we pressed them. But by then unfortunately it was too late and they defended for their lives. Its clear that if you press them they will crumble but if you sit off they will rip you apart.

Ye this. This is why I was a bit annoyed with our tactics against them in the first half. Shown them way too much respect. Second half when we went with three in midfield and pressed high, we were arguably the better team.

Hope Mourinho is watching this because this is what we have to do to Liverpool next week, who, like City, struggle when they're pressed high up.

Getting overrun in midfield even despite fielding both fernands.

Impressive energy and intensity from spurs. On paper their players are "inferior" to ours but they play like a unit and their workrate is through the roof.
