Has political correctness actually gone mad?

Bit of common sense is all you need.

Nazi uniform, twin towers, black face... no good.
Mexican wrestler, dotd mask, geisha, ninja, samurai, Caitlyn Jenner... a o feckin' k.

So, um, I'll just put this here.

The demonstrators were caught on videoblocking Berkeley’s Sather Gate, holding large banners advocating the creation of physical spaces segregated by race and gender identity, including one that read “Fight 4 Spaces of Color.”

A few years ago, I read an article pointing out the growing segregation of students on University campuses and how it was not being driven by racist white people but by minority groups asking for separate spaces to live, to study. to even just hang out. Campuses that starting in the 60's had been moving towards eliminating the barriers between groups now find themselves supporting putting up barriers between groups of people. It's weird.

It seems incredibly retrograde alright. Physically separating people of different race or gender. Fairly sure that's been tried before...

I had a thought about this as well. It would be a good counter to those wanting segregation to hang a bunch of these pictures in front of them and remind them a bit about history.

Oddly many of the people who were against integration and the end of "separate but equal" would go on about the how it would not be safe, it would make people uncomfortable, get in the way of learning, and of course a lot of other vile reasons.

The way that issues about race and gender seem to be all mixed up every time you read about the most extreme liberal nonsense in US universities is interesting. I fecking hate this myth that the straight white male is a victim in today's society but I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that gay black females are seriously stroppy cnuts...

It is just complete lunacy. What would people say (rightfully) if this kind of protest would happen the other way around?
Hopefully their punishment will be the same as it would be for that. Although I doubt it unfortunately.

Edit: This video about it was in my "recommended" ones on Youtube last night.

"Crybullies", I like that.

Strappy cnuts more like.

I thought we all came to the agreement some time ago that segregation is bad?

Also, this is why "reverse racism" doesn't exist. If this were white people blocking off "students of color" then the white students would for sure be sent to jail for hate crimes. Racism is racism is racism.

Delusional cretins.

A lot of students these days have the emotional capacity of children. Safe space... what the feck is that about?

Fans of the travel writer will be disappointed that “pussy literally goes into hibernation” in this “mostly pacifist nanny state,” where the social programs rank among the best in the world. Roosh’s initial admiration for those resources is almost charming, if you’re able to momentarily forget that this is a man who considers devirginizing teenagers a sport.

“A Danish person has no idea what it feels like to not have medical care or free access to university education,” an awed Roosh reports. “They have no fear of becoming homeless or permanently jobless. The government’s soothing hand will catch everyone as they fall. To an American like myself, brainwashed to believe that you need to earn things like basic health care or education by working your ass off, it was quite a shock.”

Shock turns into disbelief and then rage when Roosh is rejected by heaps of “the most unfeminine and androgynous robotic women” he’s ever met. “Not a feminine drop of blood courses through their veins,” Roosh rants. He concludes that the typical fetching Nordic lady doesn’t need a man “because the government will take care of her and her cats, whether she is successful at dating or not.”

Now I know it is Wiki, but just a quick check of the history of the canoe finds that the oldest known canoe comes from.....wait for it.........wait for it.......THE FECKING NETHERLANDS. Stupid idiot professor can't even do a little research and find out that different types of canoes have been used by cultures all over the world. So how the feck does this jerk wad come to the conclusions that it is awful for white men to use them.

We can't let facts or history get in the way of talking bollocks.

Fiddy weighs in on Honey G and cultural appropriation

"She is entertaining, and I guarantee there is not going to be a hip-hop artist in the world who is going to be offended by her,"

"I would like to see her go far, at least she is bringing some happiness into the world. My message to her is haters always gonna hate, rise above it."

"For anybody who thinks a white person performing music of black origin is racist, you know they don't know what racism really is… These people complaining ain't got a clue. A middle-aged white woman rapping along to Dre and Tupac ain't even close to being racist."

From a related story in that article ::

Brown University’s “Center for Students of Color” hosted simultaneous “community care conversations” July 11 to “reflect, mourn the loss of life, and engage in self-care.” One was slated for “anyone who identifies as a person of color,” while the other was for everyone else, according to the Ivy League group’s Facebook page.

Similarly, UW-Madison’s Multicultural Student Center held meetings separated by race July 11. “The center held two distinct sets of ‘processing’ meet-ups. First, two ‘processing circles,’ one for white staff and another for non-white staff, were held in the morning, followed by racially separated ‘processing meet-ups’ for students in the evening,” the Daily Caller reported.

Likewise, in February, a “Concerned Town Hall” meeting was advertised to “black students and students of color” at the University of Missouri. White reporters who attended were asked to leave. Some did.

Social gatherings on various campuses have also been segregated by race in recent times.

As part of the University of New Mexico’s sex week events last fall, a “decolonized sex” workshop only permitted entrance to “self-identified women of color, including queer and trans,” according to the event’s Facebook page.

Also last fall, students at some of the Claremont Colleges held several gatherings meant only for students-of-color, including a “Hurting and Healing” art show, as well as a safe place event for “healing” and “self-preservation,” the Claremont Independent reported.

I was at Brown's Hotel last Saturday for a Stag party. While a very relaxing place, the bar bill should definitely have had a trigger warning.

Some of you have a really poor grasp of what racism and oppression actually are, do and mean in the real world. That Berkeley shit is daffy duck, hippy yout nonsense, obviously, but it's not oppressive, or even closely equivalent to the Civil Rights movement.

Comparing slightly inconveniencing white students entering one entrance of a College, with the aim of setting up misguided but harmless social areas, with the hate fuelled resistance of the state, police and populace to black people even being allowed in centres of higher learning, by penalty of law, is crass to say the very least..

Young idealist liberals can be idiots. Always have been. Don't use it as justification to become an even more idiotic Mail comment section dickhead.

Although that argument was not just exclusively a white argument. The Nation of Islam(Who's members included Malcom X and Muhammed Ail)were a believer in the idea of segregation or the Black Nation - Martin Lurther King "When Cassius Clay joined the Black Muslims and started calling himself Cassius X he became a champion of Racial Segregation and that is what we are fighting against. I think perhaps Cassius should spend more time proving his boxing skill and do less talking".

Later on Malcom X and Ail would dismiss the idea of segregation(Ali doing so after a trip to Mecca and seeing white Muslims), but I image what we are seeing today has some roots in the separation not segregation argument of the early 50's to late 70's. But it's always worth saying that the people in video are really just kids a bit stupid ones, still kids.

You're right, of course. What's going on in (some) US campuses isn't comparable to the proper, systematic racism from the bad old days. But it does feel like their version of a civil rights movement is jumping the shark when they decide that the logical next step to move away from all that shit is basically the exact opposite of progress.

Playful racism is still racism. The effect may be less but the motivation is the same. And it's not all that playful either, rather it's typically confrontational and aggressive. If whites were not a minority on that campus that sort of idiocy could easily turn violent. If i were at Berkeley with that sort of bigotry being openly permitted I'd feel somewhat oppressed. Probably more depressed though at having to share a campus with so many vegetative lunatics.

If a group of white students tried that exact same stunt they'd be kicked out of college by the end of the day. Hopefully this brand of lunacy will be driven out eventually as the colleges that promote it are defunded and see their enrollments drop.

'Playful racism'? That's a new one on me.

The point of the pictures I posted was to point out the days of old when many people fought against segregation not encouraged it. That and the irony of now protesting for segregation when that was what many racist whites wanted to maintain not so long ago (and some still do).

Back in the 60's it was college age students who helped push for civil rights, women's rights, ending the war in Vietnam.

But targeting someone because of their skin color, religion, gender, sexuality is something that really should not be encouraged at our Universities. Even if it does not reach the levels of true oppression.
