You would hope the club have been giving Luke some help with the psychological side of his injury. I damn hope they have.

ie playing with a hamstring that's 'killing you' is not a good idea, but playing when you are feeling a bit of pain, or are not quite 100 % fit is, especially when we are already short in that position.

If i had or any fan had the chance to play for united we d probably be playing on wheelchairs for the club and players refusing to play with minor ailments are beng branded as heros? Manager is blamed for questioning their mentality? I would like to question the fans who are not behind their manager, who are willing to accept players like this. Jones hasnt played a game since january and he played so well without training without being a chicken about it. Young again does a decent job at rightback. For me i would only keep the players who want to play for the shirt i wear so proudly. If they cant give everything for the club no matter if you are messi or ronaldo you can leave the club. A player is only 5 years with the fans, But a club is its fans. The soft mentality of ours makes me ashamed. Support the manager or go support soft players fc.

Rado knows but for people who don't know them it's two head coaches that don't talk to the press, they will give the most cryptic answer possible to the most vanilla question.
Problem with breaks is that you might get pain quite often afterwards. It is fine to play on though, just aches a bit. I broke my foot and still get pain in it now and again but it isn't debilitating. It just aches.

To those who said Mourinho should have done this culture changing behind the scene, it was these weak players who leaked the dressing room affair to the press in the first place.
Because Mourinho has never put himself before the club at any of the other clubs he has been at. It has literally never happened.
Yeah, but Belichick and Zimmer are both no nonsense no bullshit guys, and Belichick in particular has no real need to play any games in the media because of how established he is. In terms of power and positional security, he's the closest thing to SAF in the NFL.
It's a different culture. Jose's smart; it's not just criticizing his players, but how he criticizes them. He knows that, in England, if he says something about their commitment, desire or some other cliche sentimental bullshit remark about drive, it'll get the media and the majority of the fanbase on his side in England.

His players aren't performing up to scratch, so he is questioning them to make them angry at Mourinho. Anger is a great motivator. He wants them to prove him wrong, so he's saying this in the media. If they don't perform after this then he knows who is and who isn't mentally weak.

I agree with you and I don't like it, I feel that he is doing it for himself. Now, it doesn't mean that he isn't right, I actually think that he needs to change the culture of the club but I don't like the little games that he plays in front of the camera.
I remember Terry saying he took painkilling injections before every game and training session a few seasons ago (because of a foot injury) rather than missing a game.

I'm not having a go at Shaw, it could just as easily been others, but it's clear what he means, some players we have who have little niggles just don't fancy it.
Look at Jones he has been out for ages, and Jose was praising him today, all this says is he has had a genuine injury where by he simply couldn't play, maybe shouldn't have today either, Pogba was likely feeling his Thursday injury a bit too, I'm sure Jose listens to the medical team for who can play, so it's clearly a mentality thing for some.

In players' perspective, it's healthier for their career going the Ruud way. But SAF, the manager, he wanted the slaves who would die for him (there are few quotes saying the Co92 and the likes work like slaves for SAF). Also those who committed as much to the cause would be remembered as legend while Ruud, Saha... were remembered as very good " if he played in this period of time..." players

lack of desire is one thing but it's never good for young players to play through injuries and sometimes coach/manager just doesn't know how serious it is or just trying to diminish the meaning of the injury...

And did anybody notice, when the game ended today, the Swansea players were not smiling or cuddling up to the MUFC players? They looked gutted. A stark contrast to how our players behaved after the CFC game.
Jose needs to get tough and teach the weaker players that they won't ever win a title, if their attitude does not change.
For the last 2 seasons I have highlighted that our players are bunch of pussies. Even Rooney, who used to be a fighter has gone soft and it has coincided with his decline (ie. his aggression level has dropped).
How about when that WHU player carried Herrera off the pitch. That absolutely epitomised our attitude.

Many people dislike Fellaini, but all the managers seem to pick him. And I think the main reason is that he tries hard when on the pitch and gives it his all. If only he had a bit more skill - he'd be terrific for us.

Ferguson was also the manager who sort of revolutionized the squad rotation to keep players fresh. Even the top managers of today do not rotate as much as he did.
Finally Jose is getting tough. The honey moon period is over, it is November and we're nowhere in the table. Jose now knows his players and sets his mark. It's about time.

I'd have agreed with you a season or two ago but I'm really not Shaw will ever hit that super-ceiling level he once had. I mean he has all the time in the world to do so but I'm not sure he'll still get there.
Hiring Mourinho was the worst decision your club could have possibly made.
There is a happy medium between Keane playing through a torn hamstring and someone like Saha who convinced himself he was injured if he felt anything when it was all in his head. If a club doctor thinks someone is fit to play then they probably are and Mourinho should be able to count on them. I doubt Mourinho is throwing players under the bus here that also have a doctor's note saying he can't play.
There is a big difference between being physically and mentally strong. When people talk about "the United way", to me that was not the style of football or attacking play but the mental strength of the team. It was something Fergie built over a quarter of a decade and Moyes destroyed in a quarter of a season.
It's why United won leagues ahead of more talented squads, why they scored so many late goals, why they won so many big games and what no other team had in England until Chelsea under Mourinho. This is the reason I wanted Mourinho at United and if he can bring that back to the club it will lead to a successful era.
I don't normally get angry watching United any more but Shaw's performance in Turkey infuriated me. Being tentative after such a bad injury is justifiable and if he's not ready to play, that's fair enough. But it may cost him his place in the first team long term.

Everytime we are losing, the players' heads go down and we wind down the clock. The best example was CFC (a few weeks back) and against AFC last season. The opponent scores 1 goal - our heads go down and there is no urgency to equalise. We concede another goal, our heads go even lower and we are "done".
You will also see this in our lack of urgency, when we are trailing. Absolutely no desire to attempt to win the game from a losing position.
For all the money we have spent, we are unable to win games, that we should be winning and desire has to be a major factor here.

I believe it was the Fat Spanish Waiter who revolutionized the squad rotation. Then Wenger with playing reserve/ U21 squad in easier league Cup/ FA Cup games. SAF is more of a great adaptionist. he learned new methods, then adapt to his management. Before the mid 00s, we didn't rotate that much. Pretty much same line up weak in week out.
He upped his game and followed the good. Nothing is perfect in the end.
During the treble season he was able to fit in 4 strikers.
