Pisses me off though how it is all "Wait until Pep gets the players he wants". No, feck off, that squad has had millions pumped into it. Look what Conte has done at Chelsea, Klopp at Liverpool. What happens when they get they players they want, too?
 
There is a user on there called 'SWP back' who is so biased it is incredible, I look forward to his posts :D

Manchester City remind me of Milan in the mid-2000's. They have a great XI on paper, but the squad is clearly ageing, and they aren't in the title race in the domestic league despite their great XI.

The only difference is that at least Milan was strong in Europe.
 
What is with them all clamouring for Gabriel Jesus? Theyve never seen him play the tools

This. They hyped him up as the messiah.

They should win the league at least once while he is here, but he wont have a monopoly like he had at Barcelona and Bayern.

I think the worst thing you can say about us is that we are just boring. We are genuinely dull to watch. We have become the team that Van Gaal was slated by the rags for being. Lots and lots of possession with minimal end product, relying on the odd moments of brilliance from de Bruyne/Mata, Aguero/Rooney, Sterling/Martial, Iheanacho/Rashford to get us 3 points.

this strikes me in his blank expression when interviewed after losses, he doesn't get it
 
I'm not convinced he'll hang around if he is not successful this season. Doesn't seem to like city, even slates fans for leaving early. Haven't heard the Berties sing that awful song either-'We got Guardioala'. It's all gone pear shaped.
 
Best manager in the world my arse, everyone saying oh he needs his players in to play his style etc, well conte inherited a squad and guess what sussed out a style to suit the team rather than his style, pep needs to try and deal with what he has like most decent managers do

Gotten on a few bluemooner's nerves.
Quitting after one season will do more damage to his reputation than any league finish.

We start every season like a house on fire, winning virtually every game and dismantling teams with a high tempo style. As soon as October arrives we become sluggish and dip in and out of form for the remainder of the season.

Do our players simply lack natural fitness?

If they get a proper DM and Pep can organize a defense out of those spare parts, they might be better. Its hard to see that happening in January although they've been linked with N'zonzi.

He quit Barca because he couldn't handle having to maintain the high standards, he couldn't handle the pressure of the job. He also wasn't loved in Munich, anyone would have won the league with that treble winning side. He's like a guy that sits at a poker table, hits a flush in his first hand then cashes in his winnings without playing another hand. Then people start saying he's the greatest poker player in the world.

He's a good manager, don't get me wrong, but I've never seen him go through any real struggle. He quit his last two jobs when the going got tough, great managers stand up in the face of adversity, and overcome it. Maybe he'll sort City out and make them great, but I think it's more likely he'll walk if it doesn't get much better soon.
 
The similarities between Pep and LVG are unreal. The slow boring football, preferring to pass rather than shoot and being to stubborn to change a system that clearly isn't working.

I love seeing them suffer what we had to suffer for the last 2 years. I hope Pep remains stubborn.

I can see Pep quiting City at the end of this season and going to Juve, where he can win the league relative ease and focus on the CL (like Bayern basically).

Also Juve fans are growing a bit sick of Allegri's ultra conservative tactics, and they don't have faith in him to deliver them the CL.

Who knows, I wouldn't bet against it.

What does quitting the EPL after one season say about him as a manager and person?
Especially after agreeing to the move close to two years before he signed.

City are not looking good (certainly no consistently good), but Pep won't leave after one season. The EPL is currently a league where you can do great in one season and much worse in the following one, and vice versa. City may not be impressive this year but they have the tools to improve next season. Pep is unlikely to leave without at least winning the English title.

Of course, the owners may want to let him go, but I don't see that happening if City finishes in the top 3, especially if they make a good run at the UCL (Monaco is beatable).

Not sure the going got particularly tough at either Barca or Bayern tbf, barring CL pressures. The league at least took care of itself at both those clubs.
The Barca job seems to age people like Obama's when you see the before and after pics.
 
There's no way Guardiola will leave in the summer, but the pressure WILL be on him if he has a bang average season (no trophies and a 3rd or 4th finish).

He's doing no better than Pellegrini, but then, City have made a small habit of replacing good managers (Mancini, Pellegrini, even Hughes to an extent) with someone more 'glamorous' as the owners seem to think an explosion of popularity worldwide is imminent and a more recognisable face in the dugout will be the catalyst for that.....well, its been a good few years now since they 'made it' and they can't even fill their own stadium in Manchester, let alone bring in these imaginary thousands of fans from other countries.

Respectably disagree. He will win nothing there, maybe a cup like Lvg but nothing major.

But at what cost ? He spent 47 million on Stones, 15 on Bravo, took the 20 million risk with Gundogan, 27 million Sane isn't doing much. Aguero isn't going to come back to form. And now they think Jesus is the messiah.
