Premier League Matchweek 22 (Jan 21-22)

Did Luiz escape a card there? Ref is having a stinker. Curtis Davis should be off and baffling how the linesman didn't see the stonewall penalty, and now Luiz got away with his sneaky tricks again.

Dunno, I'll wait and see. I'm pretty sure Man Utd won't though. Hand on heart.
Of course we won't - but that's obvious!

We have had decades of dominance and won 2 Europeans cups in that time.

Arsenal haven't even dominated London.

Yes they should have won the league last season but bottled it like they always do.

They have a bottler for a manager and a fanbase that thinks finishing in the Top 4 is a trophy in itself and something to gloat about :wenger:

Actually WINNING the CL is something to be proud of, not being the likes of Olympiacos 3-0 at home in the group stages only to crash out in the knockout phase.

@Grinner might assume some of us Utd fans are "bitter" but I wouldn't want to be in Arsenal's shoes thanks! If anything I am envious of Chelsea who seem to be able to transition between managers and new players with ease and actually win league titles and CL honours along the way.

Chelsea are the big boys in London these days, not Arsenal.
Yeah but that's not I was saying really, even if it's true. My point is all that is down to not being good enough rather than underachieving. The satisfaction they get from those 'achievements' you mentioned is a separate topic.

Suddenly loads of noggies in the PL again (well, five). Too bad it's more Nevland quality than Solskjær. I think Omar can do well. Henriksen and Nordtveit aren't good enough, while King and Dio can be decent squad players for bottom half teams.
Omar did well 1st half and while it's fun seeing fellow countrymen in the league you want them to be good enough. As of now none of them are.

Officiating standards have never seemed so bad. Something has to be done.

There's underachieving and then there's underachieving. They massively underachieved in 2014/15 too(out against monaco in CL, 75 points with a team that was worth 80+)

I'll wait and see about Omar, he's having a good debut so far. And I think if you ask Bournemouth's fans they're happy to have King in their squad. But neither are or will be top players.

Not saying Omar can't play for Hull but overall the quality of players coming from Norway is not good enough.

Chelsea have two things over United which are big:
-Clinical finishing in front of goal.
-Being good at set pieces (with defenders who are an actual threat).

So Chelsea could even afford to slip against Tottenham and they are still 8 points above the 2nd spot. Great team.

We must be among the tallest teams in the league (Zlatan, Pogba, Martial, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, not even including our defenders), and we cant score a single header it seems. Its been a problem for so long, and a glaring weakness when you consider the amount of set pieces we win in a game.

We haven't really had a defender who score loads since Steve Bruce. Rio and Vidic rarely scored goals. Stam didn't either. Ronnie was a threat in the air. RVP was as well. Fellaini is probably our biggest threat in the air but nobody wants him playing.

Chelsea are going to be a force to reckon with domestically if Conte stays for a while. Scary.

The real challenge will be next year. If they manage to improve on Moses, Alonso(?) and maybe Cahill and their right wing whilst also being competitive in the CL I will be worried.

Fellaini isn't that good in the air though. He doesn't score that many goals aerially because he just gets marked out of the game at set pieces and we're right to not want him playing considering most of the game has the ball playing on the ground.

Has any of the players involved in that carnage ever commented on that match since then? Like, what exactly were the instructions given to them by Moyes that day?
Not sure but I found this great quote

“A lot of people are looking at the Fulham game and saying we crossed it too much,” said Moyes.

“If we hadn’t crossed it they would be saying we should have crossed it more.

Out of the five games I've watched this weekend, four results have been heavily influenced by officiating errors (United non-pens, Arsenal offside pen, city non-pen, Hull non-pen and Willian dive for 2-0). Something's got to happen.
