Great post.

Also included in there is period of utterly baffling and damaging decisions made by him and the Arsenal board. When half the team joined Man City and strengthened them while weakening Arsenal. Not to mention a certain RvP leaving to win the league at United. Not taking up the option on resigning Fabregas. The transfer window when he bought 3 players in a panic after the 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford. The question Ive always wondered about is if they had only lost that game 2-0 or 3-0 then they wouldn't have bought 3 players in a panic and where would they have ended up then?

The longer he stays the less impressive his earlier achievements become. 3 Premier League titles in 7 years sounds a lot better than 3 Premier Leagues in 18/19 years.

Read it well. It's a big hint, imo.

I watched the press conference that all the quotes are taken from and I don't think it's any more clear that he's staying or going based on them. Guardian have put their on spin on what he said but you could equally say the opposite and it would still make sense.

The thing that makes me think he'll stay is that it's clear the board are content to be completely passive. They aren't going to force Wenger out no matter how big the protests get.

Wenger clearly wants to stay, call it stubbornness or outright delusion but he still seems to think he can be successful with Arsenal. Before the end of the season Arsenal will do their usual and go on an impressive run to sneak into the top 4. They'll wait for the drama to quieten a little and then he'll announce he's signed the contract.

It makes me so glad that Fergie went out a Champion.

Yeah, seems like he is readying the fans. As someone said earlier, its quite possible that he has already signed the extension, and the club are just waiting for the right moment to announce it.
Securing the 4th spot and maybe reaching the F.A. Cup final.

If he stubbornly chooses to stay he will end up destroying his legacy. It'll be sad to see him hounded out, but that's what will happen next season when things inevitably go the same way.

Imo, it's been obvious for sometime that he is going to stay. The board and Wenger are simply waiting for the protests to dies down a little. And knowing Arsenal fans, two or three wins should do it.

As a United fan, I'd much rather see him leave. Our current standard is top 4 which is also Arsenal's standard despite us arguably having a better side. Any other manager, and he'd have to spend like a Sheikh( assuming their board gives him funds) and will have to transform their side almost completely to get in top 4.
I mean just look at their side- Apart from their CB partnership which is possibly the best or 2nd best in the league, Ozil and Sanchez, no Arsenal player would be considered among top 3 in the league in their position.

Why do they keep extending his deal? He gets 4th and don't spend too much but that's it. What are they waiting for exactly?

Must be so frustrating being an Arsenal fan. At United, even though we've been a car crash for 3 years, you know the board wants the club competing and winning trophies.

I think he's going btw.

The dude with the scarf and the 'not wanted here' sign..

Imagine this 10 years ago but I think the problem might just be that Arse supporters now think they're a bigger club than they are!

May Arsène stay..
I think that you don't think they're as big a club as they are is their chagrin.

I'd argue that his legacy has already been ruined and he should've walked away at least 2-3 years ago. For a supposed top class manager to make the same mistakes season on season is unforgivable. Saying that, the team is appalling but again, his fault.

Between the protests to have the manager removed and the utterly shite chants, they'd make a great Championship club.
Yeah the chants are utterly witless, think that's what's so irritating about them. Like football supporting by numbers.

They've conquered the mighty Lincoln 5-0 tonight, all is well again!

Wenger in!

(please)

Best case scenario (assuming we don't win the FA Cup) is Arse win the Cup, don't make top 4 and Wenger stays.

“Recently we have disappointed our fans. We want to go again to Wembley to win,” Wenger told BT Sport after the 5-0 win over Lincoln.

“We recently had a big disappointment in the Champions League. After that we have to respond and we needed players solid mentally.

“Let’s not talk about me too much because that has happened a lot recently. I have shown in my life that I try to serve this club with complete commitment and I will do that as long as I am here. How long? I don’t know at the moment. I have shown a lot of loyalty and my preference is here.

“I focus on my job. I always do that. I let other people judge my performances. I always did that, I am not too much worried about the rest. I am just focused on the next game.”

Legendarily reliable source The Mirror reports that Wenger must make his decision during the international break (which accidentally coincides with Arsenal playing no games, therefore knackering potential protests):

I repeat. He has already signed a new contract.
Yeah, the board 'demanding' that he makes a decision at that particular time looks suspicious (for the reason I mentioned previously).

Is this guy actually bloody serious!?!?

Never mind the fact that it was a clear red card, or the fact that Arsenal were 5-2 down on aggregate at that point, the players absolutely collapsed and Wenger made zero tactical change to the fact that they were a man down.

God only knows how Arsenal fans must feel because even as a United fan I'm angry with these comments.

There's having your head in the sand and then there's Wenger!

Two 5-1 losses in the space of 3 weeks against the same team is always going to bring severe criticism, so he's deluded there. If a team loses by two goals or more and or fails to score, i have very little time for complaints about refereeing, so his refereeing complaints have been dismissed pretty quickly by me.

Stuff the haters, Arsenal are back, they taught Lincoln a footballing lesson yesterday. Wenger to stay... the end :).
