Should Wenger be sacked?

Should Arsenal sack Wenger

Why don't they get Ranieri to replace him? I would love to see that

I think he will stay on until the end of the season. If there isn't a solid candidate available to replace him next season then I can see Arsenal extending his contract. That's a safer bet for Arsenal to finish around 4th place than frantically hiring someone new just for the sake of it. Unless he has completely lost the dressing room already.

Even the great man came close...

I remember that. I have to say I was on the fence at the time.
Thank God calmer heads prevailed.

Is that your leg we can see under the O?

Whether or not Wenger leaves this season, Arsenal are in for a rough ride next season.

  • Finish outside top 4 - Sanchez and Ozil leaves, maybe Bellerin too.
  • No CL - Signing key players become difficult
  • Wenger or his replacement will then have to deal with Europa league

CL pull means feck all. We've experienced that, as with Chelsea last summer winning Kante against the rivals.

If Arsenal bring in a reputable coach it'll be fine.

The reason why I think he's staying is because he isn't announcing what he's doing. If he was going then surely he'd know that an announcement to such effect would change the mood, it'd get the fans off his back and Arsenal wouldn't play every minute of every match under such a cloud. But if he is staying he'd know the adverse/angry reaction it would draw from many and make it even harder to achieve top 4.

There's no reason not to say if he's going. The fact he isn't saying means I think he's staying and they're hoping results turn around soon enough before they make it public.

Arsenal players doing the Ranieri defense. Nevermind the players looking at the ball, wth is Bellerin doing? Top defensive organization

Not sure why you'd mention Bellerin, when Ox has completely let Dawson go, while the 2 centre backs wandered after 1 player it was never going to, leaving a huge amount of space 6 yards from goal and central!

Just got to seeing the goals from today. Deary me, that is shocking defending and organisation for every one of those West Brom goals.

You wouldn't think they had spent big money on a centre back in the summer.

Because the other ones (including Ox) are obvious. I mentioned Bellerin because i really don't understand what he's doing. He's not covering at the post. It's idiotic positioning.

Wow, what IS going on at the Arsenal. I've said it before but I really feel sorry for the feckers.

Yep, that's when you really know it's the end, when you stop laughing, and start thinking , what Is going on?!

Not great to see the league's longest serving manager out of 92 dribble to an end like this.

Can definitely see an announcement that he'll go at the end of the season coming soon, which will at least unite the fans and stop the aggro. I'd imagine it'd immediately turn from "wenger out" to "thanks for the memories" and support.

I think i figured it out. He was covering the far post. For some reason(like being pretty bad at defending), he left his position

I think so too.
If he was to leave I don't think he would've made it so teasing. He will stay. This team is pathetic. Worse than us under Moyes and LVG put together.

I'm sure the starting positions at the corner would make sense in the zonal defending sort of way.

Clearly they've all moved from the positions though, which I thought was one of the big don'ts!
The advantage is meant to be that you don't get dragged out of position like man for man, so you keep your best headers in the positions the ball comes most often

I think Wenger needs to go. Not because of the fans (it's idiotic to base any substantial decision on the emotions of fickle fans), but I think it'll highlight the real problem here, which is the board's lack of investment.

Lots of rumours flying around that Wenger has already signed a 2 year deal and has already given a list of players he needs to the owners to target this summer.

Wash your filthy mouth.

Dude it was tongue & cheek to suggest that Arsenal will never win the league again under Wenger. Klopp has a more realistic chance with this current Liverpool squad.

Edit: Spurs are overtaking them now.

"My demands are serious this time and I won't take no for an answer. For Arsenal to return to the peak of English football, here is a list of players I would like us to almost sign."

Perhaps he hasn't made a decision yet.

I reckon he'll go. I just can't imagine him staying after all this unrest unless, unbeknownst to all, he's already signed his contract.

A word also on the players. I know the manager is ultimately responsible etc etc, but I'm irritated at how powerful players are nowadays. Regardless of what's going on with the manager, why can't they do their jobs?! They only need to put in sub-par performances, the board then sacks the manager, and on they go.

Disagree that it means feck all.

There are clubs that are above the CL pull like United, Madrid, Barca, Bayern for various reasons that are obvious.
Then there are big clubs where CL participation is a major factor/attraction for luring top players. For instance, Spurs are now being linked with a player like Isco and the player is said to be interested. That wouldn't be the case if they were languishing in our position. Similarly Goetze reportedly pulled out of a Liverpool deal after the got beat in EL final.

With Arsenal, the fact that they don't offer insane wages, doesn't have any magical moments in europe like we or other top clubs do, doesn't have plethora of legendary players of greatness and fame that make these young talents dream to emulate like ours do, all of these make ' the CL pull ', a pretty big deal.

Please, please sign a new contract Wenger. The meltdown will be glorious.
