Agreed.

Funny you mention that, yesterday i was watching a portuguese sports program and Manuel José (one of the best portuguese managers in the history) said exactly the same.
His goal rate went down a bit this year because he has been transitioning into a target man. Once its complete the goals will go up again. And with his physical discipline, he should play till hiss late 30's easy

Beautiful way to get the record. Crucial goal against possibly the best team in Europe with the perfect finish.

Because for all his tricks he relied entirely on his physical attributes to dribble, and those are mostly gone. He should change his style of dribbling, but at his age it's very difficult to do. Plus with the modern athletes, physical attributes such as acceleration, quickness, agility, balance and explosiveness are more important than ever for dribbling

And it's not like he's not effective now, even without the dribbling
He dribbles when plays for Portugal

He's not close to what he once was, yet remains a great goalscorer.

He is unstoppable on the move; he eats up crosses into the box. Awareness.

46 goals in the Champions League knockout stages so far

That's just ridiculous and he still has a few more years to go.

Very good game from him. Involved in a lot of the play, 2 very good goals and could have scored a hat-trick.

The most decisive performance that I saw this quarter final (did not see the Dortmund-Monaco match).

Dybala, Mbappe, Ronaldo the holy trinity of the 1st leg qf ties.

He was very good today, he really is some player. If only he scored that last chance and made the hattrick, would have been perfect.

Someone asked if Madrid would be better off swapping him with Hazard.

I still have no words.
That's not outrageous at all. A lot of Real fans will tell you that in fact. If Real's creative players are not creating, Ronaldo (current version) is more or less useless, Hazard does the creating to a higher degree than Ronaldo this year. Of course you can argue that scoring is just as valuable if not more which is a different discussion but creating out of nothing is the most valuable quality in the eyes of many which is why it is not an outrageous claim.

Is there any doubt he's one of the greatest players of all time?

To go from a flying winger with immense skill and eye for goal, to what is now basically a domineering forward, while maintaining a goal a game ratio or better for over half of his career.

It's simply amazing, and the case for him being better than Messi can be made.

There's anyone outside Catalunya who really thinks that? He's top 15 all time, period.

No, it can't. Cristiano is top 15 all time. Messi is top 3

I've not really watched Madrid this season so I'm not arguing your point out statistically, Ronaldo has more assists than Hazard this season as well as goals. I think he's more creative than he gets credit for to be honest.

i don't consider Fellaini in this kind of comparisons. He's just on such a different level, you could say he doesn't even play the same sport

He's great and one of the best, but he's also declining and RM need to find a replacement, not some who will be CR7, but someone decent enough.

It's also shocking how much space some teams give CR7, I mean you can question him about many things and speak about things he's not good at, but scoring is one thing he's only rivaled by Messi that he's the best at and still so much space is given.

Fair enough. Creative in that sense for me means disorganising a defence, getting the defensive organisation of the opponent out of shape which directly creates space and chances. The best players are usually the ones who can do that through technique, vision and passing ability or more likely, dribbling with pace and skill. Ronaldo could do that PLUS score from around 2006 to 2012/13 on a very consistent level. Ronaldo of the past 2 or 3 years cannot. By cannot, I don't mean he is Jesse Lingard, I simply mean he is behind a number of players in that specific regard which to plenty means he is useless if the creative players in his team are not on their game.

 Trust the Barca fan to make ridiculous assessments of Messi & Ronaldo.

He's declined even last season he was scoring a lot of stat padded goals that were just adding onto big scores.

He was very clutch tonight with the first goal and that really was a massive goal so credit to him for that but he's not at the top level any more his goals have just masked his decline over the last couple of years.

Yeah I don't disagree with what you've said here, I think he has a good final ball however he still needs service to be able to get in the position to play that ball.

To be honest, I'd rather have today's Ronaldo, who's apparently no longer on top of this game, to yesterday's Messi, who was widely credited for his performance. Two crucial goals, both really difficult.

I'd probably take Ronaldo back in a ibra type role if the opportunity arises in a couple of years.

Messi still on another level imo, but kudos to Ronaldo for making it so close over all these years.
