Heh, kind of like Barca, the NOB's and Messi, except instead of saving his life, they gave him a bunch of drugs to stop him being a weiner.
Ahhhhh, you guys had a really good summer, that's true! But i do get United fans reactions on this one. It's just the usual Sporting fan bitterness in relation to our previous boards in transfer matters. In comparison to Porto/Benfica transfers we were always ripped off. But this season it was the other way around. We got a competent board who ripped off Inter and Leicester for 40 million and 30 million respectively

He only scores against shit teams like Bayern Munich, Atlético and Barcelona lol
Fair play on him scoring 5 out of 6 goals against Bayern. Overall it was a good performance from our team but talking specifically about Ronaldo his influence in the games can't be denied. He carries a huge goal threat and is a very dependable player that thrives for this type of games and keeps proving everyone wrong. I liked his interview after the game where he said the only thing he asks for Madrid supporter at the stadium is to not whistle/boo at him because even when he doesn't score he's always trying his best and working hard for improve. So I think he's right about it and deserves more faith and support from a sector of the fans that are very critical towards him.
If he wasn't such an egotistical ass at times perhaps sectors of the fans would stop being critical of him
He would almost certainly be a number 9 for us at this point. For those who want him back, even though we create a lot of good chances, we don't even come close to how good Madrid are in attack at setting him up. Since he's lost a lot of his game other than finishing (which is still the best in the world), not quite sure how well he'd do off the wing for us.
I think he does well there in emergencies but even Zidane hasn't bothered trying that long term. He might be a great finisher but to put him up top would be a risk imo. I've never been convinced by Ronaldo as a pure striker even for Portugal. He would almost certainly be a number 9 for us at this point.
My ideal scenario is that we sign Griezmann and keep Ibra for another season and then Ronaldo comes back to replace Ibra up top. Its a long shot I know.
Somewhere there is a La that still thinks Babel is the superior player. I wish he would come back for a season or two, try and get another European cup for us. What a fecking player. Messi, although a legendary player, had a whole club and squad set up to get the best of him. Ronaldo had the work ethic and ego to shoot him to the stars. Would have him in my team any day before Messi.
What's his goals to games this season?
It was both at one point or another. Think they said Pennant was better at one point too.I think it was Le Tallec they actually compared to him and said was better.
Most likely converted to your conventional CF role next seasonThought Madrid would be looking to start slowly replacing him at the end of this season, with Hazar d or someone but if he keeps bangign the goals n that doesn't look like it'll happen
The game is going to feel so much different when both he and Messi hang up their boots
Most likely converted to your conventional CF role next season
He already plays that role for Portugal, so there is no issue. That comment from him came when he was still in his prime and still had his legs, he realises now at 32 that he needs to make accommodations to his playstyle.Ye that's what I was thinking too, but iirc there was a Madrid supporter on here who was saying Ronaldo didn't like playing that role or something? He could be a top number 9, especially as he's getting older but still has a knack for banging them in.
I'm usually quite critical about Ronaldo too, but scoring a hat trick in a CL Qf and being called shit is a bit much, no? I wonder what he has to do to please people nowadays. This forum has a weird fixation with Cristiano - let's face it, he's never coming back, and he doesnt' care about Man Utd.
He scored a great header and two offside goals.
He was shit the rest of the match.
The second goal wasn't offside.. was it?
I don't think it was.

And he should have. It would have been the cherry on top. I think he played his best game ever for us yesterday. He looked a man possessed.but in all honestly Marcelo could have scored that himself lol.
Real Madrid should ask Cristiano and the Portuguese Federation to rest this Summer, if he goes to the Confederations Cup it will be 1 more year where he will arrive later to the pre season, I do not know if the fact he played for Portugal until 10 July and then picking an injury on that day also did not have an efect on him, at least on an physical level. And he should have. He will never accept that, let him enjoy this one too.Real Madrid should ask Cristiano and the Portuguese Federation to rest this Summer, if he goes to the Confederations Cup it will be 1 more year where he will arrive later to the pre season, I do not know if the fact he played for Portugal until 10 July and then picking an injury on that day also did not have an efect on him, at least on an physical level.
I speak against myself, because without him in the Confederations Cup, I guess we are going to be worse, but still would be better for him, but he will not acept that.
What about 14 million euros or wth you paid us?
Somewhere there is a La that still thinks Babel is the superior player.
He's been a brilliant player come this stage of the season usually, very underrated in that regard. Not the first time I saw him confidently maraud against a top opposition. And he should have. 31 goals and 12 assists in 38 appearances this season.
The first and only ever hattrick in a Club World Cup final, a hattrick away to Atletico, 5 of the 6 goals over two legs in the QFs of the UCL against one of the best teams in the world in Bayern Munich. First to 100 UEFA goals, first to 100 UCL goals. Broke Giggs assist record in the UCL to become the number 1 in that category as well with 31, broke into the top 10 of the most International goals in history with 71, 3rd most in European history.
And people say he's having a down year. Down by his standards maybe, still best in the world by mine.
His past achievements contribute to his overall standing but not his current standing. So if you strip away the landmarks, what you have there is a couple of hat tricks plus the quarter-final. Prior to the CWC final he'd scored 12 goals in half a season. Cavani had scored 12 goals by mid-October and 24 by Christmas. Aubameyang and Dzeko had 21, Lewandowski had 19. In the pase you could say that Ronaldo offered a lot more than someone like Aubameyang outside of goals, but I don't think you can this season. He wasn't close to being best in the world for half a season.
Despite some people's criticism of his overall play, that'll easily go down as one of his iconic performances. Totally ruthless. Not very pretty but so decisive.
Ronaldo missed pre-season and was coming off a knee injury which pretty much hampered his break and rest period, his first game back wasn't until the 10th of October, he really didn't start getting into form until the end of the year. Everyone has seemed to forgot this little fact. Not to mention he is 32, so recovery is a bit slower than the younger lads.
He has been the best player in Real Madrid despite all that, come big when we needed him. We are currently the most in form team in the UCL and are on top of La Liga atm. With Ronaldo the leading goalscorer for us in both those comps and 1 assist off being the assist leader as well.Yes but you said his standards this year were best in the world. That hasn't been the case. Whether injuries were the cause of that or only a factor in it isn't really important, the reality is as a result he wasn't that good for a significant portion of the season so far.
Indeed. Words cannot express how badly. Obertan, Owen, Valencia and Diouf that summer. Then the year after, Smalling, Chica and Bebe. Season after - Young, Phil Jones, De Gea. I was kind of excited by Phil Jones as a prospect because he had the potential to eclipse George Best and Ronaldo, but generally it was very small time dealing for a club of our stature.I am more ticked we didn't try to get their cast offs then.
Like Robben or Sneijder.
We just botched that entire summer.
