Those theories are bullshit anyway. If Vidal converts the pen in the first leg, we likely go through to the next round by virtue of one of the most ridiculus penalties ever. If Vidal converts, there would not have been any discussion about the stuff from today and Real fans would complain about the bias against them.
Everybody is on the wrong side of those decisions once in a while. It happens. Until the refs don't get any technological help it will remain this way. The game is simply too fast to be refereed by humans. There is just no way a game like today, or a tie like this one remains without big mistakes. Refs are human. Humans are imperfect. They screw up from time to time. Today they were especially horrible. Annoying, but there's nothing you can do about it, other than accepting that humans are imperfect creatures prone to mistakes.
