Cough, he's just coming into his best I've heard! And all the stuff about Moyes is just "plane" wrong IMHO!Mourinho was still at his best in 2013. He would have been the best choice to replace Sir Alex.

"David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic"
when that is the best to describe a manager, its not a good sign.

He would have been the best choice no doubt. I don't think Mourinho is past his best though, 2 years ago he won the league. He's still pretty young for a manager, i think he has plenty left to offer.
Burn it with fire! I refuse to believe this actually happened. By far... very far the worst appointment in sports history; any history in any multiverse.4 years ago today
Yeah thats the craziest part of that story, and to think there were United fans who were delighted we'd appointed Moyes and not Mourinho.![]()
Those quotes are as bizarre today as they were 4 years ago, probably even more so. I believe Moyes was the 1st choice to succeed Ferguson, i will always be baffled by what the feck the club was thinking around that time. Appointing Moyes made no sense on any level.
That was painful. On one side you had the media praising him, repeating his stories about how it's not his fault, saying he's a good man and good manager and needed time. On the other side you had half our fanbase saying the same thing, talking about his character, right man for the job, refusing to admit he was doing a poor job and needed time simply because "SAF said so". I often wondered at the time if I was going mad, and other people were seeing something in Moyes that I couldn't see.
Frustrating times.
In a way, maybe we needed that as a club.
United needed to wake up to reality and stop believing that we could do things our way(even badly) and still get away with it.
The "value signings" of the last few years culminated with a value manager.
An awful appointment yes, especially as the clubs had done the exact same thing when Sir Matt Busby retired. How you could do the very same thing 40 years later is unforgivable. Its one of the worst decisions ever made at this football club, and arguably English football.
His style and the fact he could win the games playing mind games are a bit outdated. He would have been the best choice no doubt. I don't think Mourinho is past his best though, 2 years ago he won the league. He's still pretty young for a manager, i think he has plenty left to offer.

You've certainly grown a bit too confident after one win.His style and the fact he could win the games playing mind games are a bit outdated.
Nah...you have played some good games this season, have been unlucky in some others, but i feel Mourinho has lost his magic touch overall. You've certainly grown a bit too confident after one win.![]()

We were basically branded gloryhunters or spoiled for seeing what was right in front of our eyes. The emperor's new clothes all over again.
I'm curious how he's going to go about rebuilding for the championship
He'll go on holiday for a month before even thinking about it.I'm curious how he's going to go about rebuilding for the championship

He'll buy Everton and United cast offs![]()
Rooney?
So, if he does leave "by mutual consent", where next for Moyes? I doubt a PL club would take him after the last 4 years (particularly the last 12 months) and the Celtic job is taken. Scottish national team once Strachan gets the boot? He can have a field day playing down expectations in that job. One of football's new frontiers like China (the "Hoisin One")? Or early retirement (punditry presumably off limits due to charisma vacuum)?
How the feck was this clown ever our manager?!

Is that from all our crossing to Zlatans head?Optastat have algorithmed Moyes vs Mourinho's relative quant formations and, according to them, Moyes would have us 4 more points this season. Maybe we should have given him that war chest.
We did - he just had absolutely no idea how to use it. He wasn't denied any money.Optastat have algorithmed Moyes vs Mourinho's relative quant formations and, according to them, Moyes would have us 4 more points this season. Maybe we should have given him that war chest.

Not true. He was denied the 55 million he wanted for Fellaini's brother.

Was watching videos of Zidane training with Real Madrid and this came up on the sidebar...
