So JK Rowling spends 2 years banging on about electability and then she goes completely silent during a general election with Labour in with a shout, particularly if her demographic of followers vote in numbers. Hmm.

If Corbyn loses she'll immediately tweet i told you so and then go back to milking the Harry Potter universe dry

Going by an article i read she seems to have a Marmite-esque reputation within the constituency. Although in this case of the above video i don't see why things escalated as they did. Admittedly the camera angle isn't brilliant, so perhaps there was something taking place which we can't see? People appear to be interpreting the food bank remark as her delighting in individual misfortune, which i rather doubt was the intent. Again though, either her voting record or previous statements could be a factor.

Seems like exactly the kind of comment I would expect from a certain strain of Conservative that sees Victorian style charity as preferable to state support

She had previously voted against a motion to reduce dependency on food banks but that was in 2014 and all of the coalition voted against it too. Same again in 2013 so wouldn't read too much in the voting record.

All of her votes here.

Corbyn visiting Weaver Vale on Wednesday, a local marginal my Mum has done a bit of work in. Never have I seen my Mum and her band of merry men so enthused and pumped.

The Plymouth Herald reports that

"Every time Sheryll rose to speak she was heckled by this group and the lady started to wave a very large pair of pink underwear above her head."

^ Thanks for the info Damien.

Certainly, unacceptable delays in the receipt of benefits have to be addressed. If necessary, DWP offices could be given food vouchers to dispense on an emergency basis. I think we all alluded to the problem during the discussion on here about Hunger in modern Britain. Yet...whether they are charity or government operated, food banks will still be present (if on a smaller scale).

They're just JobCentrePlus Offices now - you can't even chase the ££££ side of things up from them anymore most / sometimes - if your just turning up with a query on a non job interview day, security are known to turn people away, the offices have targets for imposing sanctions on people apparently. Apart from that, it's really good idea.

There used to be things called crisis loans which were repayable from benefit but they were done away with to streamline the system or something. It's all online & by phone now, a lot of the actual claiming process - streamlining again.

Some good ideas, except it isn't either/and obviously, now people can't even pursue an idea of the progress of a claim without inconvenience & cost probably.

But these are just people at the bottom, who gives a feck? And when that attitude spreads, who gives a feck about that either, just people at the bottom, innit.

From the thread on that first tweet

And on that slideshow they didn't mention May and cabinet also opposed anti-terrorism legislation.

Cheers. Also found this today - http://www.mediareform.org.uk/blog/bbc-say-papers

The BBC really has clearly failed this election to present a fair and balanced account.

I've voted for Corbyn twice in the leadership contest, so I do like the guy but I'm always surprised how excited he gets people.

This is the first time I'm eligible to vote, so I need some help:

There is only 1 question right? Which politician from your constituency you want to represent your district. Is that it?

Also, what's the best time to go out and vote (in order to avoid queues?)

In a basic sense yes, but you should of course be aware of the parties they're representing etc.

Yeah. Being honest, I don't know the people running for the seat, but I know which party I will be voting for.

I probably should have done a little research on that topic, but I can't see me not voting for Labour.

I usually go around lunch time. Never have any queues. Would assume anything during normal working hours is better than anything else.

What constituency are you in?

Diane Abbott is black?! It takes some doing, considering his sister is rather blessed, but Giles successfully manages to be the biggest tit in the Coren family.

Yeah vote Labour, it's between Labour and SNP there with minimal risk of Conservatives getting a look in - if you support Labour like your previous post suggests that is. If Labour can nick that seat it would obviously be a bonus but failing that it'll be the SNP anyway.

How dare she not know a word for word account of a report from October 2016.

:lol::lol:

When was she made shadow home secretary?

I feel bad for Diane and think McDonnell should be less of a coward and come out for some interviews, but it was a bit of a car crash again.

I'm in the same constituency. I've always voted Labour and after meeting Gordon Munro and reading a bit about him I'll be voting them again. It's expected to be a comfortable SNP hold with the tories beating Labour into second which would be sad.

Diane Abbott is not qualified to be a secretary, let alone an MP or a senior minister. The woman embodies incompetence and the phrase 'out of your depth'.

How anyone who supports Labour or any non-Tory party can want her anywhere near power is beyond me.

I thought they were keeping her away from interviews.

Today's interview just leaves you shaking your head in disbelief.
