That's a very interesting table. I've said many times on here that Chelsea are either incredibly lucky as far as 'Injury Days' lost is concerned or their medical / conditioning team have something very special going for them, either in terms of planning/implementation or equipment, not so sure it can be the later in this day and age. Look at their record over the past 5 seasons, only once have they not appeared at, or very close to, the bottom of the PL 'Injury Days' lost. Whilst of the top teams Arsenal have by far the worst record of days lost with United and Liverpool not far behind, Spurs and City generally middling.

I think when it's happening for a long time then you can just praise their medical/conditioning team. No team can be this lucky for five years. United and Arsenal are always near the most injured list too. Must be a reason apart from luck.

Teams don't have to adjust how they play because of 1 player. Spurs played the same way when Rose was injured, they will play the same way even if their best CB is out.
I might have overstated their importance. Regardless, Walker was never a key player for them. He's a pacey lad with a questionable footballing brain. Trippier also being preferred in the last part of the season, starting in all of their big games.

With Trippier being a City product, I'm going to laugh myself silly if he has a better season than Walker.

Trippier quick to cash in on his new found status.

Must admit, given the way I expect City to hog the ball and dominate most games camped in the final third, would Trippier have been a better choice for them? Then again, Walker is the better bet for CL games and the big matches.

Yet another Spurs player forced into signing a new, long-term contract and not learning from the horrible fate of all the other players slaves at Spurs.

Modern day slavery, can think of nothing worse myself.

At least you're finally starting to see the light, Glaston.

English club rooting against England NT?

Looked to have picked up where they left yesterday. If they could add some good signings they could be a force to reckon with.

Check the link I have posted.

I get a message saying "Sorry, this content isn't available right now The link you followed may have expired, or the page may only be visible to an audience you're not in."

Shady Spurs supporting another countries national side and trying to hide it.

They should be docked points.

Then you have to go to their facebook page and check.

Looks like it's not viewable in the UK. Whereabouts are you?

India.

So Spurs blocked the content in UK and posted it

I think Spurs fans must be getting vexed.

No significant signings and Walker out the door.

Another similar season beckons with the added difficulty of having to adapt to a new stadium.

Or it was superb bowling ;) Great match anyway, either team deserved to win it.

Yeah, it was superb finals. From 191/3 to 218 all out, very gutted when the match ended but overall it was very good match.

On topic though. will be interesting to see how they will replace Walker. Whether they will sign anyone to replace him or someone as a back up.

The bottom line as far as I'm concerned is that they weren't good enough last year, they're currently weaker with Walker gone (however you rate him) so it's going to be a struggle. The teams around them are strengthening and if I had to pick right now I'd struggle. I'll be a little surprised if City, United, and Chelsea don't make up the top three - but I'm not sure who would finish 4th. The only team I'd bank on not making it right now would probably be Liverpool. Can all change with a few signings though!

I thought they already had an offer in for Hoffenheim's RB ?

At what point do they want to step up and make that transition into winners though and serious headway in Europe?

This set of players won't stick around forever as Walker has already shown

From Spurs perspective they just need to keep up their momentum of being a Top 4 club while they transition into their new stadium. Until that point they're always going to struggle to keep hold of their best players as they can't compete with wage demands. Last year was the best they've achieved in the Premier League and that should now be their benchmark. You don't see many Arsenal players leaving this Summer despite not winning anything and now dropping out of the Champions League. I would love to know what wages Walker was on and is on now, I think he got his head turned and made up any excuse to leave knowing he'd get a massive wage increase (don't blame him).

Spurs have struggled to get over the finishing line but they've also dominated the best teams for the last two years so his excuse that they don't have a winning mentality is somewhat flawed. They just struggle to replicate that form when the chips are done, but that will come in time. Their key players are after all still fairly young and inexperienced.

This strikes me a fairly optimistic (from United's perspective). I don't expect Spurs to be substantially weaker (or weaker at all) than they were last season, and, as things stand, I see no particular reason to assume we'll be significantly stronger than we were. They finished 4 places, 17 points and +35 goals better than us.

Oi! We won the FA Cup!

Plus for the first time since the mid noughties we now have a chance of a European trophy, what mug would leave this summer! (put your hand down Aleixs)

Maybe, but I also think Spurs vastly overachieved last season while we underachieved. If we get a couple more players and they don't make any really significant signings, we'll be ahead IMO.

I personally don't think Spurs overachieved, but rather that we are a strong team at the moment. And I don't expect there to be the many teams clearly better next year as you suggest with City United and Chelsea. Any of those teams as well as Spurs can find good form and go on a run and we'll see who eventually comes out on top. I would be surprised if we finish behind all those three teams, but I'd also be surprised if we finish above all three.

That's what many people said last summer too. So there comes a point where, when Spurs have finished above United 3 seasons out of the last 4, you need to start questioning whether the natural levels of the two teams is somewhat different from what you like to think they are.

Did you watch us play last season? If you saw a few of our games I honestly fail to see how anybody could say we overachieved. Our performances on the pitch last year were mostly excellent and we fully deserved to finish as high as we did.

Seems odds on they would be top 4. I guess wembley is the big unknown factor but otherwise they look well set up to go well. I was a little surprised they didn't compete for Chicharito as a bench option but they don't need much.

Can't argue what you say isn't invalid at all. But I don't think what I've said is exactly outlandish either. I think we're under far greater pressure to succeed than most teams this time though.

We'll see in the end, for what it's worth I do think the top six are very evenly matched and thus I don't think the difference between say, Chelsea and United last season was really 20+ points. Obviously it was, but I'd say the quality of our squad, especially after the Summer, shouldn't be that far off.
