Barcelona mismanagement leading to a decline

Oh, I assure you none of the fans who know a dime are shedding any tears, on the contrary, are quite happy. 222mil in the pocket. The possibility of the board getting booted out (that's the best thing actually if it happens), and Neymar going, don't get me wrong he is the best player after Messi and cr7. But he was always a frustration for a lot of us. Constant ball hog/ time wasting, not partnering well with Alba so many occasions I can remember of him just ignoring a very good run from Alba that would have resulted in an opportunity inside the box, whereas he just ignores and then loses the ball. Again he used to redeem himself with those brilliant moments and reminded us of Ronaldinho but still.
We are kinda happy.
Can we lick your tears?

Now watch them spend £120m on Coutinho
They will literally cry on TV if Liverpool tells them to feck off. I believe that Coutinho is untouchable this summer.

Barca will have to deal having just 2 out of 3 best players in the world in attack this season.

How can you set his clause at £200m  When Ronaldo's for example is £1b. Barca should have know better, fools.

Dembélé would be the best choice.

Another option: Mbappé CF and Luis Suarez on the left

That went really well when Surez signed for them initially. Now that he's older and slower it would look even better.

Why not both? Losing Neymar means they need to add the fire power to replace him and neither Mbappe nor Dembele alone can resolve that IMO.

Mbappé could cost between 150 and 180 milions
Dembélé 100 millions

My guess

They have a history with it, to be fair. After Ronaldo and Figo, it was only fair to complete the hat-trick.

Interested to see what this does to the value of other deals. I've said previous that I think it could be a good thing for Barca if they invest the money wisely and were able to do something like grab Dybala and then tempt Bayern with a big offer to get Thiago back, but those two might wake up tomorrow having seen this deal and want €150m for them each.

It's all right we believe you.

Football is not played by individuals but a system. I am sure we will find better fit players for Valverde's system.
Football is played by individuals in a system. Barca being the most attacking side on the planet need the cream of the crop to make it work. No player is improving the Barca front line cause he's a better fit for whoever's system than Neymar was. Honestly, without securing Mbappe, there will be a pretty sizable drop in the barca attack, however it was so far ahead of everyones that they'll still be lethal.

I read that Neymar's camp insisted on it. He wasn't happy at Barca for a year or two and the contract he signed last year was just papering over the cracks.

You don't just replace a player like Neymar just like that. MSN is/was basically 90% of the team. They will be far from poor, but they will also be far from Real Madrid and perhaps Atletico might remain enough consistency to once again go further in Europe and perhaps finish higher this coming season.

It's fine and dandy saying they have all this money now they will build a team. Not so fast. The transfers recently have been shocking and now the fee's will apply a Neymar tax and could be forced into panic buying. Too many players bought on a spare of the moment and not months of scouting. Your asking a board that has generally got things totally wrong in recent years to get things 100% perfect in a small period of time. If your a blinded Barca fan or massive optimist your probably expecting this, if your a realist your probably very pessimistic right now. Hard to build a quality team overnight and in recent times Barca have been the remains of a great team + the greatest attacking trio ever assembled. Eventually they will need to go back to the team game, which is what Real Madrid ultimately formed and that took a long time after a patchy period with the Galatico phase. Barca is a mess on so many levels but has been papered over by MSN, well now they have lost a huge part of that.

As a United fan, I was concerned when we lost Ronaldo, but at least we had arguably the best manager ever who'd been preparing for a year for the exit. Also, Ferguson was always building a great "team" and we had a good enough board in place. Having said that, we've not reached those heights as a team again and many thought the money we were throwing out and the players we were attracting in recent years was going to fast track us back to the top.

They were in decline last season, even with UEFA doing everything they could to keep them in the Champions League. Couldn't happen to a more deserving club.

Hm, ya, how much did they pay Di maria and Cavani to miss chances that would have put the result to rest?
It's quite surprising how many of our fans seem to have this intense dislike of Barcelona, their posts read similar to how Stoke fans or similar would react against United.

Yeah find it strange too. I prefer them a mile off compared to Real Madrid. Even though @carvajal is one of my favourite posters compared to Peps arse licker fcbarca.

I think people are bitter at losing two finals to them. It's not like they cheated us. They were just miles better than us.

Certainly a lot of dodgy decisions got them to both those finals though.

They weren't better than us in 2009. That should have been a Chelsea-United final.

Why are people quoting me about this? Where did I say they weren't lucky to get in the final?

All I said was they were better than us in the final. Which they were. I'm not bothered about how they got there. When we faced them we couldn't get near us. And yeah I would have loved facing Chelsea in the final again too.

Or you know, people just have another opinion to you?

Thanks Bojan :) , although FCBarca is a very good poster in his own way.
Barsa were too dominant and always tried to sell the "our style is more pure than yours".
About this season,I have seen Barsa falling and coming back too many times so I wouldn't rule them out.
They need a new board, be quicker in the transfer market of la liga bringing back the excitement to the young players.
Both Theo and Ceballos could be playing at Barsa but they prefer our bench.
Aleñá is great and with Neymar money they can get 2 top players.
Dembelé,Dybala or Coutinho won't leave the team for some birthday party.

See I get that I surely do. Neymar is the best player under 29 hands down. But you have to remember the same was said when Ibra left, who was probably one of the best strikers at that time, and we replaced him with Villa a clear inferior player if you are just looking at the number. But I assure you that Barca played the best football I have ever witnessed. I don't think that team with Ibra would have played that well.
So its the individual that fits the system.

Nah they're both awful clubs. But barca try to pretend they're not. Cats out the bag though.

I quite like real, they don't even pretend to be nice. Its quite funny.

The money side seems to be easily forgotten by many. That's a serious inflow for potential investments. Buy Mbappe and they are arguably better off in long term. They have Messi and Suarez for now and Mbappe as the new understudy with more years to shine when it his time, albeit less of a sure thing.

Agreed. Definitely not something that'll make or break them as a club, assuming they use the money wisely.

No one thought that after Ibra left cause it was clear he wasnt fitting in. He even started benching towards the end of the season. Btw villa's numbers were better than Ibra's in those days. This isn't replacing a misfit, this is replacing the clubs 2nd or 3rd best player. A top 5 player in the world. Obviously Barca wont crumble cause they still have a lot of talented players there plus are going to make signings.

I believe they tried to set it higher and Neymar wouldn't sign. For me its not the fact that they let him go that's the foolish thing, its that they didn't have any kind of plan for when it inevitably happened. It seems to me, for example, that PSG have been planning this for at least a year, maybe two, and there were others, like us, and even Madrid, who have held long-term interest. He was always going to go eventually, the real failure was not being prepared for it.

Loving it. For all the self back slapping and self appointed mes que un club bollocks, their flailing is glorious to see:drool:

Tell me about it... To be a Barca fan on redcafe requires a thick skin.

I rate Mbappe and Dembele but they're getting seriously overrated after achieving so little.
Is it only because they're gettable at so called lesser clubs? Is that a coincidence? People are judging them based on elite clubs trying to sign them as if they're the best of the best rather than the competition being so fierce because other similar players are unattainable?
Dembele is getting praised to the moon but has he shown more than Dele alli? How would Kane be judged if he were put up for sale by Monaco tomorrow? Pogba was a once in a generation talent when he was up for sale last year but now we have Coutinho v Pogba comparisons since Paul is unsellable and Coutinho seems to be moving.
Its a strange availability bias that seems to be ripe in football
Dembelè isn't overrated. He is once in a generation talent. He ran the Madrid defence ragged when he played against them in the CL. They couldn't get near him. As for Alli and Kane, they are great players but at RM there's a certain technical standards players have to meet. Dembelè and Mbappe meet those standards and are better than Kane or Alli . Also, English players are way overpriced so there's no point in going for them especially for the Spanish clubs.

So Kane and Ali who have proven it in the toughest league in the world over several seasons are over priced, even though they are likely cheaper than Mbappe who is 18 and ha only proven it over half a season?
