Premier League weekend fixtures 11/12/13 August

Didn't realize Darren Fletcher is now a Stoke player. Why on earth would West Brom sell him? Thought he was great for them.
Think his contract ran out. Maybe he wanted to be nearer home so not far to travel. That is if he didn't move house of course.

Free agent.

I did actually really want him when he was heavily linked a few years ago, Rooney was a great player. Bullet dodged indeed though.
If only Fergie had fully pushed Rooney out the door before retiring, it would have been his last masterstroke. Imagine Chelsea being saddled with him for the last 4 years instead of us... sigh.

And if he's squarely in-line with the ball, he's onside?
Yes. You have to be in front of the ball to be offside. And a part of your body that you can legally score with that has to be in front of the ball so your arm does not count.

I think that he was close to being in line and it is not a big mistake seeing as the assistant is asked to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking side.

Is it true that from next year onwards the transfer window will be closing before the start of the season?

I'm committing to nothing but I think they might have changed the rule (wording wise) about forward / backward passing.

When I played, the ball had to have been passed forward (I think).

Why they (might have) done this? - they made it OK for people to wander around offside where it wasn't really previously (altho it kind of was) - again, I *think* it might be something to do with rebounds on all these defence splitting backward passes putting packs of offside forwards running clear on the goal an OK situation. And defensive clearances getting bounced back - which used to be a lucky break for the attacking team that doesn't happen now <---- not sure.

To be fair to fetch, there are not many places he gets to be the looker of the group, but in stoke he is a veritable bradd pitt. Why wouldn't he go for the glory.

Chelsea have a great injury record, which showed last year with a lack of rotation. Don't know how they manage to keep most of their players fit throughout the season.

This goes back a few years I think. They're doing something good at the medical department over there.
