Barcelona 2017/18

How the mighty have fallen.
After last season they desperately needed to reinforce their team with new key signings, especially in the midfield and instead Neymar left and they got Paulinho (???).
I don't get what they are trying to do but it looks like they are imploding from all the bad business they did in the last few seasons. You take Messi out of that team and I dont even rate them as 1 of the top 5 teams in Europe atm.
They will always be a pull but with shitty transfers, politics and having to compete with more teams for signatures (and firmly behind Real as an attraction), the (seemingly) negligence of La Masia and age of Messi (30) it's not looking that bright for them. Sure, like I said they will spend and still attract talent but it has the feel of the early 2000's for me when they fell from the truly elite of European sides and threw money at everything and not too much stuck. I hope I am right.

Andre Gomes with Paulinho is a Champions League winning midfield pairing.

Oops, I meant the Championship. Darron Gibson and Lee Cattermole might give them a run for their money though.

My biggest worry is that we won't try to fix the obvious problems in our team until we are no longer an attractive destination. Our corrupt board has the potential to do an AC Milan to this club.

How the feck can they take 200 million and think Paulinho is the answer?

When age finally hits Messi, Barcelona could be in trouble.

No they don't, worst case scenario, they'out in 2019 at the latest

Valverde sack watch

Their transfers are laughable, and their are getting worse and worse

Is Laporta coming back? Would fans want him back?

If they sack him now they are purely scapegoating and things will only deteriorate. Bartomeu has presided over the worst transfer policy imaginable and only the MSN's brilliance has been saving him and Barca from humiliation. Valverde has an impossible task in his hands.

That might've been their "regular" dough, though. They probably haven't started spending the moneymar yet.

I think both Coutinho and Dembele will go to Barca before the transfer window closes. Looks like they need a new centre-back soon too. Laporte? Valverde connection and all…

And yes to your final sentence. They need to act quickly and prepare as good as they possibly can.

They're lucky Messi is fecking brilliant, without him they'd be truly fecked. With the money they got from Neymar I thought they'd use it well and get back to the top, doesn't look like that yet though.

Christ! They are fecking shit. Not even Coutinho and Dembele can save them, albeit it would be a good start.

Wonder what Pep is thinking now, rubbing that genius bald head of his…

Surely he'll be back at Barca eventually. If not as a manager, I can also see him as a sporting director, definitely as he ages later on.

Though I get the feeling that he'll want to coach in Italy at some point too. I don't base that on anything concrete, just a hunch.

And that´s the reason, they´ll eventually pay €270M for Coutinho/Dembele. Finishing 3rd or 4th next year with a last 16 finish in the CL and an aging squad is doing more long-term damage than overpaying for these two players now.

Pep is gonna coach only Brescia in Italy. He said it himself sometimes ago.

Dembele and Coutinho in the team will be enough against most teams. But the benchmark is Real Madrid. They needed to sign a world class CM.

I do not think those two players fix their biggest issues.

I will wait to see how they do in the leaghe and how their signing adapt but today they looked lifeless so it's not a very promising way to start.

Or a surprise twist and a bigger club, like Roma, which he did play for briefly. Work with Monchi etc.
Not enough money at Roma to prove how great he is.

Anyway it's incredible how Barcelona are shooting themselves in the foot transfers wise.

I'm not sure who they could actually sign though?

Yeah they need a world class CM but who fits that bill? They don't really have to worry about availability because they're sat on £200m but who could they actually get? There isn't anyone out there that isn't already at Real, Bayern or well, us (Pogba so there's no chance we're selling at the moment).

If only they had a player like Thiago.

Poor Leo Messi. Is now stuck playing for "average" teams at both club and country level:D

Yeah, first he was stuck up dealing with Tata in both club and country and now he has that liability of Mascherano playing for him, I wonder who's at fault for that.

They needed Ceballos way more than Real did.

This is bad. Not even the loss of Neymar can justify that shit show considering madrid were missing their 3 aruguably best attacking players.

Seri has a release clause of 40m and wants to join us.

We chose Paulinho.

Barcelona have the determination, knowledge and board to sign 5 top players in a day and turn it around. I'm sure they will wake up after this and things will change. We've seen it before when they signed Edgar Davids, Ronaldinho, Van BH, Marques for example.

I don't understand the club structures in Spain very well but as far as I do Barcelona have a president who is elected. And apparently he's absolutely ruining the club and fans seem to hate him. So why hasn't he been checked out all this time ? I keep seeing barclona fans here constantly complain about the way the club is run and still the guy in charge doesn't change?

They have made some really, really strange signings over the last 6-8yrs....

As I always argue with Utd, top teams decline over decades not a year or two. Any Barcelona fans care to enlighten me on where it all went wrong?

PSG uploaded a photo of a laughing Neymar on Twitter. They are trolling Barca.

Would love to see them play Barcelona in the CL.

Would be hilarious if they got knocked out and Barcelona hit them back on Twitter.

They are desperate and I'm wondering if we could take advantage. Although i love him......Herrera for 120 plus? Problem is getting a replacement. Carvalho maybe for 30 mill for when we play the big teams and look for long term replacement if needed in summer.

This sums it up really :wenger: The Barcelona board are incompetent and they've waited to long to replace players like Iniesta and Xavi. Poor Messi and poor Valverde.

Banter era is setting in for them:lol:

Seriously, Fellaini would improve their midfield, its' no joke. Its' that bad.
