Just spent a few minutes on Google earth and street view browsing random places in North Korea. Easy to forget the country is mostly full of decent human beings trying to do their best for their families.
I mean an actual Embargo where nothing goes into NK. Much more powerful than your average garden variety sanctions.
If China does that, it will be very helpful.
Anything to avoid mass loss of human life. Mind, such an embargo will cause terrible hardship on ordinary people. But what are we to do?
Doesn't China provide a lot of food and fuel...
So basically you want to condemn many thousands to starve and freeze to death... nice.. powerful... u.s.a... u.s.a...
If you're able to think beyond the tip of your own nose, you would see that a nuclear war is the worse option.

That wouldn’t be much of an embargo would it. Kim’s entire base of power is built on allowing wealthy elites access to luxury goods from places like China and elsewhere.
In all fairness Kim and his family have been doing that for decades.
So you seriously suggest cutting off food medical and energy supplies is the best option... given the food production issues and climate of the country...
And remember I'm talking food energy and medical supplies here... not I phones and private jets
China has already suspended oil sales and indicated it would back further sanctions but wishes to stop short of causing one of the largest humanitarian crisis in living memory... you on the other hand seem to want to go full on killer mode
Oh well that won't quickly turn into a terrorist hotbed with actusl wmds (instead of fabricated ones)... what can possibly go wrong

The mistake in your logic is you’re presuming the Kim regime is humane and will distribute supplies among those who need them, when in fact the standard response by autocrats has always been to hord supplies for themselves and to keep their militaries functional. It doesn’t take a rocket scienctist look back at the past 6 decades of Kim family is rule and surmise they aren’t in any way interested in the welfare of anyone who isn’t at the very top.
That's the theory... conventional and possibly chemical weapons is guess being the most likely options

No i assume he will priorities the military even more than now and what currently makes it to the civilian population won't and many thousands and of course firstly the old and young will starve and die... that's why I wouldn't drastically cut the food supplies into the country... same with the medical and energy supplies

I'm all for increased sanctions... with the exception of food energy and medicine as previously stated
Increased sanctions won’t change Kim’s behavior. You need a full on embargo that crushes his testicles to where he will capitulate in his nuke program.
So nothing that would actually put any pressure at all on the government? Which is fine but you really are saying you want sanctions that do nothing.
If you will knowingly and willingly kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people (through starvation) to achieve your goals your honestly no better than somebody who would nuke hundreds of thousands of innocent people to achieve theirs

Ok would you embargo food supplies in the knowledge they would still feed the army so basically your gonna be starving kids
Would you embargo energy knowing how harsh the winters get and your gonna be shutting down hospitals and freezing the elderly
Would you embargo medical supplies knowing your just gonna kill the sick
Quaintly naive moral quips won’t accomplish anything. We are in a situation on where people are guanteed to perish irrespective of which approach is applied. Therefore you have choose the option where your side wins decisively.
I thought the sanctions don't work as NK trade clandestinely through other businesses and that many countries like China etc simply don't abide by the sanctions they have signed up to?
Guaranteed... how about we find a diplomatic solution to disarm the regime... how many perish then

Not really, no. Despite the past, I doubt China really are happy with this, not with their standing in the world ever increasing and really beginning to threaten America's dominance around the globe. Why would they still let this go on? What reason to prop up NK than their mistrust of America's intentions?
It's no coincidence, IMO, that NK are really beginning to test the boundaries considering who is in charge of the usa right now, his ridiculous spouting on social media and not to mention America isn't exactly trusted around the world anyway.
