World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

Argentina has some useless players in their team. Pizarro and Acosta come to mind, dont know what they offer. Think Biglia would be a better option than Pizarro in midfield.

I think that ref was paid extra tonight.

I was only able to watch from about 50' in, but he seemed terrible in his game management. There should have been a minimum of 6 minutes added and in reality probably should have been at least 10 mins. I know that will never happen, but the excessive amount of time wasting starting to early from the 60 min mark was painful to endure.

Venezuela are crap, it's no surprise they only have one point away from home. Matter of time until Argentina scores.

lol Honduras starts time wasting from 60', the GK throws the ball out of bounds to fake an injury for a few minutes, issues a red card in stoppage time, and in the end he only plays 3' of extra time.

That's nothing. Venezuela are already time wasting way before the 1st half has ended

I heard about that (CAS decision last week?).... I thought he had played for Paraguay?

No, he didn't. The CAS-supported Chilean interpretation is actually complete bollocks. Basically, if there are no family ties you must have lived uninterruptedly in the new country for FIVE years from the moment you turn 18. Which essentially means if you move to another country aged 1 you have to wait until you are 23 to play for them.

Surely there have been various cases of this not being the case?

What's even more mental about it is now the guy can't play international football as he hasn't yet spent 5 years in Bolivia since age 18 and can't play for Paraguay as he has played for Bolivia before :wenger:

Veron back playing for Estudiantes? Cant be worse then Biglia and Pizarro

Serbia almost qualified, wonder if Wales will be able to go to the playoffs, ROI looks like they are having a mini meltdown.

Ireland were fortunate in our earlier games in the group tbh. Not beating Wales at home has come back to haunt us and Coleman's injury in the same game was a big blow. Having said that I still think we can give Wales a good game if we beat Moldova at home, Wales might be a bit cautious and we will have fresh players through suspension in the Moldova game. There's also no guarantee Wales will beat Georgia which means 4 points will get us second place, though would put us in great risk of missing out as worst second place team.

Brilliant play by Acuña for the goal

Argentina have had more than enough chances to win this

He was absolutely atrocious in 2010, and it seemed a crazy (if not moronic) decision at the time. Seven years on, they might as well consider Maradona, i can't imagine him being as bad on the pitch as Veron at this time.

What does he see in Acosta and Pizarro? Bang average

Yeah wtf. And Sampaoli's subs, lol.

Taking off Dybala and Icardi for Benedetti and Pastore, whilst leaving Aguero on the bench… when you need to score.

Now we know what you English feel like about your national team :/

If this is the final result against the last team on the table, the whole team is going to get ripped apart tomorrow

Mental how people will still bring up how Argentina have a world class squad whenever criticising Messi's international career.

So much garbage in that team.

Otamendi is so utterly shit some times it's almost an insult to the sport. Glad he plays for City, good fit.

Yup. My exact thoughts. He should've had at least a couple of assists tonight, at the very least.

When was the last time an Argentine striker performed at NT level?

i was joking obviously while putting emphasis on how poor are Pizarro and Biglia...tbf not only them, the whole team is abysmal offensive wise.

They don't have 8/11 world class players like some sides do, but they still have a decent side and should be doing a lot better than they are. As a team they look disjointed and the fact that every class player they do have look a shadow of themselves when they play for Argentina speaks volumes.
