World Cup Qualifiers | October 2017 | Play off draw on Tuesday

I think the home advantage will galvanize the Russians though I admit they have been terrible lately. I see this being quite a defensive tournament as usual. England have decent talent in attack but they also have Southgate as their manager.

Russia even with the home advantage aren't close to being good enough. They were terrible when we played them in the Confederations Cup

Spain are fantastic in every single position. They have someone who's arguably top 5 in the world in his position in every single position of their starting eleven whilst having a very deep bench.

I think Germany will disappoint.
Don't disagree with you on Spain but how often have we not heard that this is the time when Germany will disappoint and they just pull another great tourney out of their hat-all the while shooting at least one unknown player to the realm of stars?

Great finish by Matuidi, didn't expect such an early goal. Bulgaria is very tricky at home though so I'd be careful, especially on set pieces where France have always been fairly weak.

That's assuming Bosnia finish second, which they won't if Greece beat both the bottom teams.
Killjoy :(...

Can't see Scotland winning by 3 or 4 goals though so should still be ok (you need a blooming computer programme to work out the permutations?!)

Edit... in fact, looking again, haven't got a clue.

Best just to win and be done with it.

Actually, don't remember when they had a disappointing WC. Quarter-final in 1998? That's underachievement by their standard. Germany is always among the favorites.

Bosnia lose. Still bottom of the runners up table..... and means a draw for Wales and they're definitely in the playoffs.

Cymru am byth. :)

I've been looking for an updated version of that table so I'm glad that a draw on Monday would be enough, fecking hope we don't play for a draw tho, good thing is Ireland have to come out and play.

Getting closer to the world cup who would people consider to be the favorites?

Brazil looks really strong so I guess they will be one of if not the main favorite to win it. Although a lot will depend on Neymar I think as they still build a lot around him.

Germany will of course stand a very good chance, but I don't think the team they have look that great at the moment. Still though they play good as a team and they often raise the game for the big stage.

Belgium has a fantastic team on paper and should also be one of the favorites. I do feel this might be the time for them to even get all the way. Particular with Lukaku taking the step now to become even better under us.

France on paper probably have the best set of players in the world, but I am not sure about them getting everything together. Pogba will probably need to step it up for them to be able to win it. Mbappe might not yet be able to produce enough going forward for a world cup favorite.

Think one of these 4 will win it personally. Hard to not pick Brazil, but I also expect most of the pressure to be on them as well. They will be the favorites everyone expect to win so I can see some underdog stand a better chance. With things right now looking really poor when it comes to german club football I can see them raising the game and winning the world cup personally. My money would be on them.

Any other thoughts?
Belgium have no chance of winning the world cup.

A side like Italy has a better chance.

Spain, surely? They have an outstanding team. Most of the players who had that horrid world cup were on their twilight and are gone.

Portugal can't even score against Andorra without Ronaldo.

Hell of a sliding tackle to block that Lacazette shot. Nicely put through by Mbappe.

Edit: Uh oh, Kante holding his thigh.

Rough qualifiers for Chelsea so far, Morata and Kante now.

WOW! What a series of save by Lloris!

First the big error from Lloris and then that save.

Pity ourselves before having time for Chelsea. We have doubt for Jones, Fellaini, Pogba and Lukaku for the time being. That's 4 important players this season.

Portugal atm:

Kante got injured. too ?

This nonsense should stop. Clubs should have an ability to prevent their players from joining national teams in meaningless games.
