I'm coming back to win the title - Zlatan

I just love the man, he's outstanding. His attitude and his mentality is an example for everyone in all walks of life. If you've got a reasonable amount of ability along with that drive and motivation you're going to be there or there abouts further down the line.

I think his return is going to be massive for us. Obviously from a playing perspective but when I look some of our team sheets, there are a fair few players who I don't/wouldn't have total trust in if I'm honest. For some of those players to look around the changing room and see Zlatan Ibrahimavic stood across from them again... suddenly you've got someone who's done it all again and again. Even when he wasn't scoring last year, I still had a thought process that it's gonna be OK because Ibrahimavic is out there and there aren't many who carry that with them.

Really excited to see him back.

I genuinely think Moyes' "we aspire to be like City" comments would have sent Zlatan into anaphylactic shock had he been a United player at the time.

Whether or not he will be a boost, I think it is an amazing statement to make. I really like it. I question some parts of his career and his effort on the pitch when he was young, but he is unquestionably become an inspiring player as he got older

As I said I got my stats wrong. That said we now look a much better team (when everyone is fit) without him. He wasn’t the saviour last season, imo quite the contrary and he certainly won’t be this season.
I agree with you there. He wasn't the saviour and he won't be again. And I think we play much better, fast football now without him. But I do think he'll be a good addition, and a good impact player. I don't necessarily think he should be an auto starter though.

Sorry I'm not a Top Red with blind faith at all times.
If you deem fans that don't think the season over after 9 games as 'blind faith', then whatever mate. Enjoy that half empty glass.

This is the spirit this is the attitude the motivation the self trust everyone needs to carry on and chase the dream, this guy is such an inspiration to the players being there in changing room in the training sessions can benefit the lads specially Lukaku and Rashford IMO. You got to love his ego welcome back ZLATAN.

I haven't fecking said the season is over. I'm saying it's unlikely that we will win it.

I think Ibra will win the league at United; it may not be this season but I think he'll do it with us.

Raiola says he's got some playing years left in him - & I don't see why not really, lack of pace hasn't hindered him previously. As long as the knee is ok & his physical strength doesn't fall off a cliff....well he's certainly got the football intelligence and the extra yards in his head.

Zlat's ridiculous. Ibran if he returns by January, vich could be too late, the title will take more than himo.

His reasons are selfish and he might not come back half as good but that hunger and determination has to rub off on the rest of the squad. This is the main reason I'm so happy we re-signed him. That mentality is just what we need to instill in our promising younger players. Inspirational and driving leaders make a huge difference.

Love his arrogance and self belief and he's certainly got the talent to back it up.

Thrives on proving the doubters wrong and his return will be a massive boost for the team.

Fantastic footballer, the likes of which will be rarely seen again.

Too late for that this season, I'm afraid.

Will be nice to have him back in the squad though. He's such a personality.
Are you nuts? We are nine games in. Nine. Games. In. Pull your head in and support the team.

I like zlatan, but it won't be up to him. If Jose plays him and lukaku together against the teams 6th & below, i can see us being able to blow them away, & if that does happen, hopefully we'd continue it vs the better sides. If Jose rotates them, playing them separately, we have the same team he played in last season, with only lindelof & matic as fresh blood. Being honest, If that's the case, I don't think it will be enough.

We've missed the big man a lot.

Not just his ability but his leadership too.

Also, his ability to bring the ball down from a long ball will be invaluable, as this is something Lukaku hasn't been great at this year.

Nice soundbyte but off the pitch United have a habit of making big noises off the pitch only to not deliver on the pitch.

Hope his goal is achieved.

Yeah, we talk a great game since Fergie retired but rarely back it up on the pitch.

The vocal swagger doesn't translate to performance, sadly.

On what grounds you can say it? Injuries to pogba and fellani?

Huddersfield was a blip and Liverpool we pulled handbrake ourselves. We will recover the points lost with players back.
On the grounds that we're not very good even with all our best players available. We're a decent side with some glaring issues and we're likely to have more Huddersfields this season.

Naturally I hope I'm wrong and we can win it. But finishing second or third would still be a respectable result - we were sixth last season and looked like it, too, so top 3 would represent progress.

Henry and Zlatan have great chemistry!! Fun interview that !!

After Jose spunking 200m on this team, nothing but 1st is acceptable for Utd surely? No one remembers teams finishing 2nd or 3rd

I remember who we clawed back a 12 point deficit on in 1996.

I remember who we pipped in our treble season in '99

Best of all, I remember what team Steven Gerrard played for in 2014, and they didn't finish 1st :)

Well, for starters, that's not quite true; Hungary '54 or Holland '74 are fondly remembered to this day, despite not actually winning the competitions in question.

After spunking a ridiculous amount of money, we should be 1) challenging for the title, 2) play good football and not have to park the bus at places like Anfield. That much is true. But "nothing but 1st" being acceptable is simply not realistic; United aren't the only club in this league who can spend a shitload of money. What we can ask is that we keep up with those other clubs in terms of results and entertainment, too.

Totally agree with this post and we need to be patient.
The last two games were terrible but we are still second and improved in performances when compared with last year.

If we are still up in the top 3 in a few months then great we will have to accept a pragmatic defensive manager.
If we start to slide then I will be the first out with the pitchfork.

What a guy. Have nothing but love and admiration for Zlatan. It'll make for a great story if he takes us to the title!

A guy with all that money, with all he has won, with that age and after such an injury still having that hunger is absolutely incredible.

Buzzing that he is back, and it will be interesting how Mourinho uses both him and Lukaku. Zlatan behind Lukaku would be great to see.

Henry saying in the interview with Zlatan that Zlatan is in his top 5 strikers of all time. Big statement that. One of the greatest strikers of his generation but I don’t know about top 5 ever. Soz Thierry.

Finally, the purist's dream of a front 2 of Lukaku and Ibra, supported by Fellaini at 10....mmmmm glorious.

Will be really interesting to see how he responds to being a sub. I'm not sure I can ever recall him being brought on, which is presumably what his role will be.

Unless he gets the 10 role. Which I'd actually love to see. Surround him with Lukaku, Martial and Rashford supported by Pogba and Matic. Now that is a team.

No but you are a premature capitulater. The year we reeled in Newcastle would've ended in September for you.
Except I haven't capitulated! :/ I've had a mare in this thread. I must have worded my initial post really poorly. Didn't realize that "..., I'm afraid" implies any sort of certainty in English. Didn't mean to say that anything was settled. Just that as things stand, I have a feeling we are some distance from being favorites. Things can change as the season goes on obviously.

Alright, chill out.

The use of 'too late' is generally used in accepting something is over/not going to happen.

He will be a big boost when he comes back, the league is still far from over, unless people are stupid enough to believe that the league will be decided by october.

Some people on this forum are that stupid.
I can only assume that they have not been following football for long.
