FFP is a mirage and all the big clubs know it. It’s FIFA for Christ’s sake, they more corrupt than a Mafia judge. PSG’s and City’s spending cannot be explained by their own past sporting successes
 
Simply too good. Recruitment has been sound as well. Lots of young players there in Jesus, Sane, Sterling, Stones, De Bruyne, Mendy. Team will only get better and better. Fantastic performance
 
United may have spent a fortune since Sir Alex retired, but City have a net spend of £300 million more than us in the last 5 years. It is no surpris that City are dominating this season, which they should be doing with the money spent.
 
It just feels like everything they’re doing is coming off. They should’ve dropped points in some of their games like against Southampton but the footballing gods are with them at the moment.

Tbh I have zero respect for the way City have got their success. With their lottery win, it's like a drug-taking athlete winning the 100 metres on a motorbike. Sure I'm not alone in thinking this.

That said, hopefully it'll act as a spur for the rest of the league to improve. United have to nail their transfer targets this summer and get the players we need. And we can't afford to park the bus anymore, which must be a good thing.

Not sure the ‘transfer targets’ bit alone would close the gap. It’s clear to me that City’s superiority isn’t down to them having individuals that are levels above everyone else. The difference is in the strength of the unit. You watch them and don’t get the impression that your own team would play like that ‘if they just added x or y’. Conversely, you imagine your own ‘not good enough’ players you want replaced will play better if they went there.

You also have to consider that a gap MIGHT also open up in terms of individual quality. City will look to sign the world’s best too, and replace those who aren’t, of whom they have plenty. The issue is that those who are not the world’s best are already playing better than everyone else in this team.
 
I kept reminding myself that they were without Stones, Mendy, David Silva and Jesus (in the first half). That was phenomenal football. Arrigo Sacchi is right that Guardiola has taken total football to new levels. The only question for me is whether this kind of form is sustainable come the business end of the season.

Agree that the 'best squad ever' is massively premature. How people can say this team is already better than United's treble team is ridiculous.
 
What was impressive today is we weren't troubled much by a Spurs side with Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son all playing and the left half of our backline was a combination of Mangala and Delph.

With our full team I thought we'd be good defensively but with a back 4 of Walker, Otamendi, Mangala and Delph its kind of surreal. If people saw that back 4 starting last season they'd be laughing and I'd be crying. Mangala has been very good when he's played this season, pity he can't play with the ball.

Mate players like Gundogan, Aguero and B Silva aren't even guaranteed starters for them! Their squad is miles better.

We've wasted a fortune in recent years and need to tighten up our act to catch up.
 
Doubt they'll go undefeated - mostly because Pep's history suggest he (correctly) doesn't care about such a feat, they can know somewhat shutdown and concentrate on knockout games when they need to.

But they have great depth who also all happen to be hugely confident right now - so 100+ is almost certainly on the cards.

Everything kind of falling in place for them too, got one of the weakest teams in the CL, two of their main rivals play each other straight away, and another in Barcelona are playing their kyptonite team in Chelsea....fecking mad. I see Jose and United being more of a threat than Bayern, loves being a thorn in Peps plans.

Well they can only have XI on at a time. Their top scorer is Raheem Sterling, who isn’t a world class forward. Fabian Delph is their right back. Otamendi, Mangala and Kompany are their centre halves. Aguero not being a guaranteed starter proves nothing, he’s definitely better than Jesus, so he should be.

We could sign Aguero, Sane and Sterling and we wouldn’t be as good as them in my opinion. It won’t be as simple as that. It’s clearly their collective and coaching.

He likes football to a varying degree than you do, not hard to understand. I mean I couldn't do it, but I'm not sure what's so incredulous that someone likes football over United and thus will watch 'good football' no matter where it comes from.

I've seen a RAWK Meltdown, Salah, Klopp, Scholes vs Lampard vs Gerrard threads in the past day or so - so that's four Liverpool related threads, who aren't exactly playing at this level. So what exactly is your point?

Of course United will discuss their main rivals more than other teams generally.

Agree, it's not incredulous at all. Some people are just bitter it seems.
 
Walker is also a huge player for them now IMO. Allows them to play with a higher line than usual because he's so rapid.

If anyone thinks that, they need to watch more football. Our greatest manager is a living proof of how a unit can be made greater than the sum of it's parts through tactics and great training.

Because we're Manchester United fans.

Do you think Roy Keane sat and watched Arsenal's invincible season and thought "Wow I really appreciate their football"? No, he would've been fuming. Our players AND FANBASE should be the same. We should as a team and as fans be fuming and translate this energy to determination to change things no matter how improbable the odds may be.

Our mentality as a fanbase (in the case of fans such as yourself) needs to improve. I only shudder to think what the likes of Sir Alex and Roy Keane would say if they heard the attitude of United fans such as yourself.

Point is there are too many of them, obviously.
 
At least we can see the level we have to reach.

There can be no messing around with our recruitment. We need the best players possible if it means shelling out a shit load of money.
