Premier League Gameweek 19 - Dec 22nd and 23rd

Goal and an assist for sterling. So productive this season

When you look at Citys wingers/attackers compared to our options, it's really depressing isn't it.

Sterling, Sane, Jesus, De Bruyne, Bernardo, David Silva.

Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mata, Mkhitaryan.

Read that and try not to weep. Negligible squad-building to be honest.

The problem with this City side is that teams are shit scared of playing against them. That plays into City's hands so well because they thrive with possession. If Pep buys more players in Jan, I can't see them slowing down.

While you mostly have a point, it's unfair not to include Pogba in our list. With that being said, City also have Aguero.

Not really. They’re just coached better.
Yep. People really think that buying two or three big names will suddenly make us play the stuff City are playing and have the same amazing movement to play it out from defense and transition into attack.

Nah. It's 50% Pep 50% players.

Danilo has scored. Now Bournemouth must disband the club

That's what ruthlessness gets you. It gives you a psychological advantage before a ball is even kicked.

Well, that's a couple of new PL records set today. Highest points tally by Christmas Day and highest tally after 19 games.

Last week people were defending our play vs Bournemouth by saying, lookylook City had problems vs them away.

At home, like we were vs bournemouth, they destroy them in third gear.

Main difference is the coaching. Pep actually coaches attacking positioning.

It's one of the reasons why Utd in the Fergie era was so difficult to beat. There is also a mental factor involved playing against top teams. Your players are most likely to make mistakes and allow the team to punish them.

All I did there was read the third line and weep that we aren't getting more out of that. It's the coaching more than anything. Attacking wise Jose isn't doing well enough.

Yup, fecking juventus and barcelona

Yeah, lets say we remove KDB then as he's not exactly a winger/attacker either. Still makes for absolutely frightening reading. I didn't include Aguero or Lukaku as the point I was getting at was more the wide attackers we both have.

English commentators sometimes are just dumb: Gabbiadini goes for the ball, gets an knee on the ribs and they talk about theatrics, like he was wasting time when his team's going for the winning goal. Just stupid commentary!

I agree about the attacking side of Jose's approach but Mata, Mkhi, Lingard are several tiers below City's attackers - these are not bad players but they are nowhere near good enough for a side with serious title aspirations.

hate it, but have to agree

And they are still chasing Sanchez.

Movement and attacking positioning. Our options aren't as good as theirs but more could be done as ours end up in a dead end half the time with nobody to pass to and little support from fullbacks.

Jesus isn't a wide attacker. Sterling, Sane and Bernardo are their definitive wide attackers.

Mkhitaryan thrived when playing for Tuchel, who shares some of Pep's ideas. It wouldn't be far fetched to suggest that Mkhitaryan might be seriously good at City. I'd go as far as saying he'd be a perfect fit there.

Wouldn't understand if they really went for him. He's turning 30 and would only take minutes from City's young talents.
Rotation. They play many games and if Kun leaves Sanchez is flexible to play on the flanks and in the centre. The only true wide players they have are Sterling and Sane. Silva is still seen as a D. Silva replacement.

Yeah if he didn't have Jose telling him to do 90% of things wrong then he'd be amazing :wenger:

Sorry that's just nonsense. I don't believe you can't see the difference in quality.
It's not nonsense, it's a part of the equation for sure. Look at Sterling. The guy was being ridiculed on basically every board about football I've ever read, people were sure Pep would kick him out of City and now the guy looks like a worldstar in the making. That's no coincidence.

Probably just going to replace Aguero. Pretty fair that he doesn't want to just get Jesus to be his main and only striker with little competition.
