You can’t pick up a newspaper without reading column after column about this City side. You can’t listen to a football podcast without ten minutes being spent waxing lyrical about whether this is one of the greatest Premier League sides (far too early to tell in my opinion), there’s even half a dozen threads about City on here and they average 54,000 in a stadium with a capacity of 54,500.

I care about the Premier League. Unfortunately, every year that city win it, it scratches away a bit more prestige and legitimacy from this great league. At least if Arsenal or Liverpool won it, it would be a win for football and the integrity of our league.

I agree. Too much bias to objectively even consider it right now, as a United fan.
Also, physicality is just one thing. There is no doubt that Pep's teams are tactically superior to most of the sides they face, too.

If he's doing it he's doing it like a genius he is.
The links are interesting but if it's genuinely true, I struggle to see how no other clubs would also be exploiting similar advantages. Or why none of them are kicking up a fuss about it.
Really don't know if it's true but does bother me is how much faster, fitter, and more technical his teams look compared to anyone else. Other managers surely must be able to replicate what he does?

I really refuse to believe he’s some messiah of a coach with powers beyond anyone else. In my opinion, that style of football is the way it should be.
Believe what you want. He has a style that he has imposed everywhere he has gone and his teams have all looked incredible in their 3rd season with him. All have identical playing styles.
No other coach can do what he does.

It’s true though, your club is seen as a bit of a joke in the footballing world. You pissed around in the lower divisions, occasionally getting into the premier league achieving the square root of sod all for many a year before oil money came in and bought a few titles. It could just as easily have been Everton, Newcastle or Fulham. There’s absolutely nothing about your club you can own as a fan and be proud of. Well, if you can then that’s up to you I guess but you’ll have trouble getting credit from fans over the age of 13.

That is an odd statement, it is fans over 13, and considerably over 13 as in my case that remember football pre Premier League and pre Sky 4, when huge amounts of money was pumped into selective clubs.
Those fans remeber plenty of clubs with long and proud traditions, from the Nottingham Forests,Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton, Blackpool and yes even Manchester City. Anyone who belittles another team or its fans because of its lack of supposed history, all clubs have and it is all equally relevent to fans of said club, is far more likely to be the prepubescent.

It’s funny really because certainly in my experience of talking to opposition fans when following City up and down the country, one doesn’t get that impression at all. I also know plenty of long-standing reds and while they obviously don’t like to see City do well, they’re accepting of the situation and far from discrediting City’s current standing and how it came about, they’re more concerned about their own club. As a recent example, when myself and a few blues were on the tram back into town after the derby the other week, an old school United fan got on at Trafford Bar. He was no shrinking violet but we had a bit of light-hearted banter with him. There were no digs from his side regarding City’s money and nothing from him about how we as fans don’t deserve to see any success. He did, however, say that our songs are shit and was lamenting his own team for not having more of a go.
Maybe you mix in different circles but I’ve found that once you get outside t’internet and into the real world of football fandom, the narrative you’re painting just isn’t there to anything like the extent you’re claiming.
He really wasn't cleared of them. A possible mechanism was identified under which the test could give a false positive. The was no way to retest the sample as too much time has passed.
However the false positive rate was low, making it unlikely the test was wrong. Particularly as it wasn't one failed test, there were two failed tests.
Whether he did knowingly take anything is another matter. He always denied it. The same goes for the team testing issues, things like failure to notify errors could be just bad luck and pure coincidence.
The problem with the testing methodology in football is that no one is seriously looking for doping,. It's hard to know what's really happening, or how common it is, let alone identify the individuals who are involved.
