Post-match discussion

Very happy with that dominant first half but no goals unfortunately, second half even better Sanchez off the mark.

Referee was poor our players specifically Sanchez were absolutely battered today and we were lucky he wasn't injured.

As most have said great games for a number of players Sanchez, Matic, Mata etc but after he played awful and slaughtered for his performance midweek I'd like to give props to Smalling who I watched like a hawk and had a very good, tidy game today. Rojo was much better partner for him hope that continues.

I think most teams are taking exactly the same tactics against us. Hacking at our players into submission with the refs just enjoying it.

Lukaku scored a goal, but except for that he did not do much. Even that goal was because of a pitch perfect pass by Mata, otherwise before that the low cross by Shaw should have been tucked away, but no desire or movement by him to make something happen. Maybe Lukaku should be dropped for the next match and play Sanchez as a false 9 with Martial on the left, Mata on the right and Lingaard behind them. Let's see how much our forward line is effected( positively or negatively) by Lukaku's absence. Next match is against Newcastle, Jose can afford to do that.

My thoughts exactly, the man has no positional awareness or willingness to attack the ball. So frustrating at times. Hoping Sanchez yelling at him for a few games will set him straight.

We've scored 76 goals in 38 games (2.00)

City 102 goals in 41 games (2.48)

Barcelona 86 in 36 (2.38)

Bayern 74 in 31 (2.38)

Napoli 64 in 32 (2.00)

Real Madrid 76 in 35 (2.17)

I think you're just wrong. And you should be probably visit specsavers.

Which will help me to view black and white statistics posted on an internet forum (which aren't that favourable at all, are they?).

Just bloody watch us. There's game in which we barely string 3 passes together. We struggle to break sides down and win games as a result of the overwhelming quality (which lots of people do well to play down) of the players on the field. Generally, we've quite often gone on to nick a few goals at the end of games when the opposing sides are chasing the equaliser.

But we play without much spark or ingenuity and it's very apparent in bigger games. Which the statistics you're so quick to reach for clearly show that we simply can't score goals against the better sides.

Even today, we won through one moment of real quality through Mata. That's why we can beat Huddersfield, or Burnley. But there's no wider kind of identity, is there?

I'd sooner raise these concerns now (as I do) rather than wait until we lose to Chelsea, or whoever, and join in the kneejerking (GET RID OF THE DEADWOOD) that inevitably happens after every match we lose. If that makes me negative, or a shitty poster, then so be it. But I've been fairly consistent on this and attempt to justify my views - for better or worse.

Shocking ref.

Ok first half performance.

Great second half.

Sanchez is fantastic.

/thread.

How the hell did we lose to this team earlier in the season?

We thought they were going to play crap. So, most players didn't mentally turn up.
Their bodies were on the pitch, but they were getting beaten to every first, second and third ball.
Huddersfield treated it as a Cup final - so they won.

Wow. We definitely were watching a different game. We were always building up in the first half. We played well. Always constructive and building. This is despite the constantly getting basically hacked down and despite Sanchez being new in this team.

Yes, we are playing Huddersfield but it was a solid no nonsense performance. If you can’t enjoy and feel good about that team performance, I wonder how you get by week after week being a fan/supporter.

The first half was too slow and predictable, too narrow, too many players in the same area. Yes Huddersfield were dirty and ref was poor but we didn't create much. Huddersfield had no threat whatsoever but nor did we really. I enjoy every minute of every game even the Spurs match but trying to pretend we played well in the first half is stretching it to the limit.

Well, I wasn’t pretending. I did think we played well.

What banner?

The munich banner?

Good performance and result against a team who had no interest in anything other than keeping everyone behind the ball and occasionally kicking lumps out of us.

I thought they might have had a go at 2-0, but if ever a team came with damage limitation as its plan A and B, it was Huddersfield.

We made hard work of it but decent second half performance. Sanchez is very bright, quality player.

Mata Lingard and Alexis probably made Ronald Koeman cry at what his dream team of 10s might have been.

Lukaku really needs to sharpen up; Looked complete misfit in amongst all those glorious plays.

(Reasonable criticism snipped)

Don’t let them get you down. I’m with you.

Soon Jose will find the better formula with Alexis in the team. He is incredible and the team should be build around him.

A note about the referee:

1) Is it possible that he's 3 metres away from McTominay and our player gets an elbow in his jaw and gets flattened to the ground and the ref does not 'see' a penalty?!!??;

2) who has the responsibilty of monitoring such refereeing and dishing-out the appropriate suspension for a few games for the ref???

McTominay was very good today and seemed 10 years older than he is!

Pogba must have got a wake-up call today!

He is not even a Utd fan. He has been trashing our team for years now. Who does that?

Constantly negative in that I'm one of the most positive posters across all player threads on the forum.

Seemingly I'm not talking out my arse hole. You have developed a reputation for being a negative bastard. @EyeInTheSky @Ban

To anyone above a certain age, of about 10, it's extremely cringe-worthy.

Not really. Lighten up. A mini welcome for new player on his home debut. No biggie.

Is this like the shortest post match thread ever?

All the moaners are off to another moaning thread.
