Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

His ego is out of control. Hogging the ball for ages like he does instead of passing it and keeping the momentum up shouldn't happen in the modern game.

@El Pasillo did want to share with us this video :) and is unfortunately restricted in terms of posts per day

Thanks for the YouTube video :)

I think people should look into this before criticizing Neymar for his performance vs. Switzerland tonight.

People hyped up him for his goals against Croatia & Austria despite being underwhelming in those games.

He's clearly not 100% fit after being out for 3 months.

He needs to step up in the next game, that wasn't good enough.

Not buying the excuses of him not being fit either, if he wasn't fit he wouldn't have played 90 minutes in a friendly against Croatia two weeks ago.

His decision making is his biggest problem, not his fitness.

Drags the ball for five minutes, does useless, ineffective 'tricks' over the ball, doesn't want to release the ball, waiting to get fouled instead, dives whenever he can, complains that he 'constantly gets fouled'. Well this isn't a fecking La Liga, he's a massive wanker, I'd absolutely hate to play with him and I do hope Brazil never win anything with this cnut at the helm.

Didn't look too bad but rusty after being out for so long. He's got to be the most fouled player right? Opposition players just try man handling him every time to try and stop him. Feel like he'll grow into it more as the games go on.
Messi was pretty roughly handled by Iceland too. Dunno who was fouled more, both were fouled a lot. Neymar is just more theatrical when he is.

Looked lacking of match sharpness, very off with everything he did. Switzerland were aggressive on him but that's how they'd be against any star player. Cant respond by rolling around and shrinking. He got tackled and gave it away so many times. Really bad in the end, but I'm sure he'll improve.

Good point. Neymar has the advantage that his teammates are decent so he can find lots of space. Everytime Messi came on the ball there were 3-4 players on him ASAP.

Neymar’s problem is his decision making.

He still hunts the starlight. He hasn’t yet grasped that if he plays for the team and Brasil win, he will get all the plaudit regardless of what everyone else did and what he didn’t do.

Kind of OTT.

Everyones talking about Ronaldo and Messi this WC but I'm gonna go ahead and say this is where Neymar will showcase himself. I predict him to make this tournament his and win the WC although I'd like Messi to lift it. Expect this guy if fit to do better than both Ronaldo and Messi this year.
Yeah, I’m not so sure, mate.

This exactly. I actually don't think he's trying to hog the starlight tbh. He seemed less selfish this game and wanted to win. I agree his decision making is his biggest issue but he can get it right every now and again. Some decisions were good and his team could have scored from them.

I think he tries to force the issue so much because he has a huge expectation as a Brazil player and a player regarded as the best in the world. He probably feels it the most and wants to try and win it. I personally hope they make it to semi or finals and want Messi to win the WC. Messi si also in a similar position I reckon.

He should touch the ball less often and release it quicker, the game he played tonight was completely forced instead of letting the game naturally come to him.

I think he'll definitely improve as the tournament continues.

No, the problem is he isn't in a good physical condition as explained below

Enough fence-sitting, Kosty!

He wasn’t good in those matches either. The great goals covered his lack of fitness.

I thought he looked horrendous. Slowed down the play every time he had the ball and waited way too long to release it, trying to dribble 2-3 players and losing the ball countless times.

He pissed me off and I'm not even Brazilian. I want Brazil to do well just for Marcelo. If Spain doesn't win it I hope they do.

I miss the point with Neymar, his twatishness seems to outshine his footballing performances everytime I see him play.

Clearly everybody can't be wrong in saying he's fecking brilliant so I suppose I've been unlucky with the games I've seen him play.

I hope he improves as the tournament goes on.

This was like the final in the olympics where he spent most of the time on the ground and trying to get a pen or someone sent off.

To be fair, pretty much every foul on him was a foul, hard for him not to spend a lot of time on the ground today.

His decision making was woeful at times though. World Cup standard defenders/midfielders simply do not let people dribble past them with ease, and Neymar kept trying to take on multiple players.

If Florentino gets his way Madrid could lose Cristiano and gain Neymar. Feels like an absurd switch to me. Ronaldo is several levels above Neymar, I doubt Neymar will ever become as effective as Cristiano due to his self-indulgence and inconsistent decision making.

If Neymar released the ball earlier and used his talent to create space for others his effectiveness would rise exponentially. His determination to dribble everyone every time massively reduces the impact he should have with his talent. He's basically a knock off Messi: He can dribble almost as well but he has no idea when to do so and when not.

I'm just hoping he really wasn't 100% tonight. :nervous:
