Same criticisms go to Griezmann, so I disagree. It's not about it being white or not white. Just some things look a bit ridiculous and "not natural". When people try too hard to stick out like that, it's usually to get noticed with what they're doing, so people will focus more on them.
Everyone laughed when Messi died his hair blonde because it looked weird. But at the end of the day, hes never been someone who goes for the limelight much beyond the pitch. And plus, he was still tearing it up, so they were like "feck it, you do you as long as you perform".
It's basically like this. If some nobody does all the things that attract publicity, well nobody really gives a feck because hes not very good and not very popular in the first place. If it's some huge name, and they play like shit, then their every movement will be analyzed and criticized, especially if they're like Pogba where they love the limelight and the fame. He can get whatever haircut he wants or dance however he wants, I couldn't care less, but when you're the most expensive player in the world (for a year) but dont justify that tag on the pitch, then everyone is going to say stuff like "more focused on his hair then his game". Nobody would give a feck or say anything if he put in great performances all the time. But it's very easy to hate on him when he flops and has all that stuff. If he flops but is some quiet guy, well then people dont care too much.
