Would you swap Mbappe for Martial + cash?

It still is, a clueless Argentina defence doesn't change the fact that he'd be a beast up front next to a partner just like he showed at Monaco. You quoting makes me suspicious, I'm tempted to go look for your posts.

I only quoted you because your comment seemed quite arrogant considering what we discussed the other day.

As I said before, when he played up top for Monaco, his best work came when he drifted into that left channel, where he could dribble at players.

Falcao played the main forward role.

Being a sprinter is impressive, but ultimately he will be judged on his goals. If he's considered a top 5 in the world attacker then his goals will mirror his hype.

He’s scored plenty of goals, and is obviously more than a sprinter. And goals isn’t the only thing he will be judged by, which is why he was being called the best player on the pitch even in the first half today.

But basically, you won’t believe Mbappé is a top player unless he is the top scorer in his team. Okay.

Why would he only be valued at that when PSG reportedly paid nearly 180m Euros for him?

PSG wouldn't sell even for £300m.

166M pounds, which means his value has gone up by 40M.

300M is ridiculous. He had a very good game today, but was non existent in the first three.

200m is fair, in my opinion.

I'm very impressed with Mbappe. I just don't get carried away with the irrational, kneekjerk hyperbole of the moment.

Monaco played a basic 442 with the left mainly occupied by Lemar, M'Bappe had freedom to roam just about anywhere on the attack and that was because they had a focal point in Falcao. His best work didn't just come from the left, nor the right but in reality having a bit of freedom to start runs from anywhere was the real key.
Besides if you have a problem with my arrogance, deal with it :smirk:

Yeah yeah! He ran towards goal with the ball. His very talented I can tell that, but let’s not start debates because he used his pace effectively. Don’t give me this game intelligence rubbish either. He picked the ball up from behind the half way line and ran. I would have be very disappointed if he ran to the corner flag.

Your argument is preposterous

Haha, I dont have a problem at all. Just nice to name and shame the clueless people. :p

That is a bit fairer than your ‘sprinter’ remark. Anyway, as you are ‘very impressed’ with Mbappé , I think you’re on the right path then. No further questions your honour.

Mbappe has been constantly slated for scoring all those goals for PSG since it's a pub league. I think he has what it takes to succeed in any league. No doubt he's the best young player in the world. Dembele is on that level but hasn't delivered..... yet

Good chance he wont be going anywhere since good WC performances will only inflate already inflated valuation. If PSG bought him for £160m last year then he will be easily valued about 200m now. Very few if any clubs would be interested in that kind of a fee in today's market. For Madrid and United, it would double their previous record transfers.

He wasnt great in the group stages, but his ceiling is frightening, which I guess is why people are getting carried away.

His performance today was phonomenal.

He is a sprinter. Well faster than anyone out there.

I didn’t see anything from Mbappe today. Well nothing that was new from the time when he was at Monaco. Lethal finishing, fantastic presence of mind and actual ability to make them effective.

Not really of the moment, and not irrational. Scored 26 goals as an 18 year old for Monaco when he only became a starter in the 2nd half of the season, including scoring in every knockout round and setting a record as the youngest player by 2 years to reach 10 goals in the champions league, as well as scoring 6 goals in the knockout stage for Monaco. It's not all about potential or getting carried away, hes already a world class player and shows it with his performances and has the end product that nobody has at his age since the Brazilian Ronaldo.

And being a ‘sprinter’ is what makes him ‘very impressive’ to you?

Its his least impressive attribute. Why people began salivating on that long run is beyond me. He literally just outran everyone. The goals were impressive though.

I personally think Martial has the higher peak. The question is about his mentality.

He's very undervalued ATM imo, which leads me to suspect there will be a few prominent suitors. Can't afford to ignore undervalued assets in this inflated market.

Then Mbappe? No way. I love Martial as much as anyone on here but Mbappe has everything Martial has and a lot more. Way more explosive, faster, unpredictable and uses both feet, better finisher and scores a much larger variety of goals, on a different level off the ball, can play on either wing or up top... Martials close dribbling is better but that's pretty much the only thing he has over him.

Ah, think I’m starting to get your view a bit more. I think his speed is one of his better attributes, but he has everything.

Closest thing I’ve seen to R9.

He's amazing. Reminds me so much of Ronaldo it's crazy. He is only going to get better too. I'd pay £200m plus Martial for him.

I’m starting to think that maybe your like 15 hence why you call him world class and he compare him to Big Ron. There have been many youngster who have shown the same amount of maturity as Mbappe. Yes I get it we’ve witnessed two arguably greatest players of all time dominate for over 10 years and it will be nice to see a new crop of players that can get to a world class level but it doesn’t mean we have to over react every time a player of world class potential comes along. If you was a bit older you would have witnessed Ronaldo; Owen; Robbie Fowler; Anelka; Del Piero; Raul play (yes there are probably more).

Only one of them would can stand next to Messi and Ronaldo by the way.

No. Martial is just as good as Mbappe with the right coaching and just needs a manager that will give him confidence. I would give them Sanchez instead if it was my choice. And who's to say that Mourinho won't ruin Mbappe as well?

Martial is a better dribbler than Mbappe and also has better close control. Mbappe is better at timing his runs and is the more direct player. There's no point comparing the two. Both of them with the right manager and right tactics are top top players.

Kluivert

If we are going to make fun of people who say Martial is as good as Mbappe can we also make fun of those who argue that Rashford is as big a talent as Mbappe?

Just to clarify myself, I'm asking this because it is ridiculous to say such things with these players still at very young ages. Mbappe is currently has the world at his feet because everything is going his way, he is at a massive club where he is treated like a star and played all the time, while Martial and Rashford are playing at a club where they are undervalued by the manager and fans. Confidence plays a massive role in how players perform and if they don't get that from the manager then they won't play at their peak.

As if PSG would sell him.

This....No chance they will. They are loaded and Mbappe just moved there.

Only way PSG sell is if he starts a fuss about leaving and that transfer would command an insanely astronomical fee.

15 because I rate Mbappe? I'm 24, not that it matters. You realize Mbappe has set records that NONE of those have matched? His performances as a teenager have been ridiculous and he is already a tremendous player. It's not hyperbole, it's not going over the top. Show me another 18 year old scoring 26 goals in a season (only being a starter since January), scoring 6 goals in the knockout stage alone, leading a random Monaco side to a champions league semi final. Hes the youngest player to have ever reached double digit goals in the champions league by a distance. Hes the first teenager since Pele to score 2 goals in a world cup match. And he did it in the knockout stage against Argentina. Theres a reason many said Rooney was the one of the best 18 year old they've seen. Mbappes achievements have surpassed his.

Get off your high horse and thinking I'm some child and naming previous players. None were on Mbappes level as teenagers. We'll see how he does in the future, but as a teenager, the things he has done surpasses almost all other youngsters.

It was a joke. Stop taking it personal lol.

What are the 26 goals you talk of? Just going off what you wrote he scored 26 goals for Monaco from when he entered the team full time in January? Lol. I’m going to guess that’s not correct.. But goggle the players I’ve mentioned they’ve done some impressive things with some impressive numbers at a young age. Google Raul’s goal scoring record as a teenage, he came in the team as a left winger. Robbie Fowler had an impressive few records as a teenager google him. Infact as your 24 you probably know a lot about Sergio Aguero, check out his record.

Yes I know about this new Pele record his got but sometimes it’s just good timing. For one you have to be the right age for the World Cup to come around to even be able to break that record.

Mbappe only became a starter for Monaco at the new year basically. He had 26 goals in all competitions that season, while not even being the main striker. And yeah, I've seen plenty of all those players of course. All greats of the game, not saying Mbappe is better then they were at their peaks or will have the longevity or as great a career. Not that it even matters, i didnt call Mbappe the best teenager ever. Better then Rooney was at the same age is what I said and thats pretty massive praise.
What I am saying is that Mbappe is someone who's playstyle reminds me the most out of everyone of Brazilian Ronaldo, and what hes achieved til now in his short career is phenomenal, and his performances put him on a world class level already.

Here's a tougher one:

Would you accept Pogba and Martial straight swap with Verratti and Mbappe? I'm on the fence. Just feel that with Fred maybe Pogba can finally start living up to his potential.

I would. Mbappe being a forward is likely to score more goals than Pogba. And while Pogba is quality, replacing him with a good midfielder who despite not being world class can still reach 10 odd goals and assists per season is not as difficult as other positions.
