The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

WBA thrash Q.P.R. The Baggies have entered into the Championship mode after a difficult start. Leeds and Boro marching on as well. They look the 2 best teams in the league atm. Aston Villa draw, instead. Blackburn, Millwall, Bolton and Sheffield United win as well. Wigan-Nottingham 2-2. Preston-Stoke now.
2-2 FT. Stoke still struggling in the league.

Wigan are doing well considering they’ve just been promoted. Lost the lead right at the end.

Brentford will play in the PL sooner rather than later. They might be the best run club in world football and are miles ahead of anyone at this level when it comes to everything outside of the pitch such as background staff, facilities, performance analysis, use of technology and data etc.

New stadium on the way too I believe.

Leeds playing on TV again tonight.

Probably will be their hardest test so far, away at Swansea and they are playing ok too.

I think Swansea will win this one. It should be a good game. Do you know who is on TV tomorrow?

Amazing game between Swansea and Leeds. Both didn't deserve to lose so a draw it's a great result. Q.P.R. seem to be the worst team in the league, instead. Ipswich and Rotherham don't also look good.

14 goals in the championship tonight. It's never boring.
Great game by Swansea and Leeds. We could genuenly be watching United vs Leeds in the premier league next season

Enjoyable game that was, there’s something different about Leeds this season.

Both them and Swansea look nailed on for playoffs/promotion.

Only Celina, Asoro & McKay. Dunno about Celina but Asoro is decent, not sure how much impact he'll have straight away though. McKay is decent when he's on form but that wasn't very often at Forest. Interesting to see how Potter does there though. They must be skint or something because they've lost Mawson, Fabianski, Mesa, Bartley, A. Ayew & Ki without bringing in much in return.
Far from skint, tight gits, they got rid of 12 players I think brought in mc Bernie as c.f.. ok for this league I think bony still there? But injured could be wrong. Just watched 2-2 with Leeds decent game fair result but Swansea could have nicked it Celina bad miss . Tough league.. can see them getting play off place?

Yeah, the Swansea-Leeds game was fun. Two Leeds players stood out to me in Samuel Saiz and Lewis Baker. I liked their RB Shackleton, too, and he's only 18 years old! I also didn't realise Baker was on loan from Chelsea - he reminds me of Moussa Dembele. The Spurs one.

Also, Tom Lawrence has 3 goals in 4 games

Think Swansea will finish around the 5th spot, surely in the playoffs. Leeds are a big question mark, instead. Bielsa is not very constant.

true but he’s basically got the same squad as last season and he’s improved them by a noticeable amount already. They seem to be playing with belief and confidence not seen in recent seasons.

their squad depth is poor though so a few injuries and they’ll struggle but I really hope they can keep it up and get promotion this season.

Not that i don't rate Bielsa, but his teams tend to start strongly and finish slowly.

Indeed, Marseille were on a fantastic run under him, but towards the latter half of the season started to collapse. It's a cliche with managers who use high pressing systems to say they burn their teams out, but to be honest I think with Bielsa it may be true, his extremely intense nature must have an immediate impact on the squad but I imagine dealing with him over the course of the season might get a bit tiring. It's why I think he's at his best as a manager of a national side, rarely sees his players but is tactically very strong, and his intense nature works well in a short space of time.

Over the course of multiple seasons though, it's pretty much guaranteed he'll have a bust up with someone.

Terrible transfer business over the last few years combined with silly prem wages and lack of revenue meant a lot of money had to be made up. That's why there was a fire sale with ridiculous prices to get the higher earners of the wages (Ayew being bought for 18m, out on loan 6 months later, Clucas for around 15m sold 6m a year later, loads more) Just really poor work by the club.

McBurnie has been at Swansea for a few years, spent the latter half of last season on loan at Burnley and did well, still only 22. You're right about Bony, pretty bad injury. Had he been fit, he would definitely have been sold or loaned out by now as he's the highest earner at the club. I imagine if he doesn't get loaned out due to injuries, he'll definitely be in the January window. I'd love to be wrong about this though, even if his second spell at the club hasn't been a success I still love Bony. It'd leave McBurnie as the only real striker at the club too. I'm not exactly sure what his main position is.

I'd be delighted if they got a play off spot, but like you said it's a tough league and I think the amount of games coupled with lack of squad depth means I'd personally be happy with a mid table finish.

Leeds have been good but it’s a Bielsa team, there is no way they will stand any chance in playoffs if they go there so they must win an automatic promotion or they can’t get promoted.

Lads, what's that yoke before the names on all the Championship jerseys?

Thank you! I guessed it was something like that but didn't recognise it.

Hutton has bottled that. He sticks his head in there and he either clears the ball or wins the freekick.

Has Berahino scored yet?

Stoke kept a lot of their players iirc. Surprised how tough they're finding it

FT: Norwich win 2-0 against Preston and secure their first win of the season
Blackburn come from 2-0 against Reading to draw 2-2. Blackburn unbeaten

Brentford look a decent side and play some good stuff. Would like to see them promoted.
