Mourinho tells Paul Pogba he'll never captain Manchester United again

LVG was much better than Mourinho. Should have got rid of Mourinho long time ago. Sevilla should have been the final straw.

I don't know if you can choose between two poisons.

Forget the football side of things, we should turn it into a soap opera, at least we'll win a bafta.

Have them all played by the actual Muppets.

Oscar the Grouch as Jose Mourinho.

Count as Ed Woodward.

Not sure who'd play Pogba.

Miss Piggy as Mino Raiola.

Special appearance by the Cat in the Hat as David de Gea.

Pogba has brought this upon himself with his constant comments and interviews. The manager has to show that he is in charge and that player power can not be tolerated.

Fergie showed Keane the door when things started to unravel and that was after years of incredible service and commitment. Mourinho isn’t popular, but he’s not wrong here to put his foot down in this instance. If a player doesn’t want to be here, then get him out and move on.
Keane wasn't looking to leave the club. Pogbas alternative is to hook up with Vidal and Messi, he knows what these comments are doing

No reason to get all crazed about this most recent "source reveal" as we will surely discover whether it's true in the next three games Pogba plays. He's been sharing the armband with Valencia, and if he isn't a captain in the next few games then we can expect that it's true and that either A or B will be gone next season (or both). Even the next game that Pogba plays it would seem to be a big topic if he is not made captain just as a middle finger to the "press."

It's remarkable how Mourinho has gone from being a manager with a huge bond with his players to having constant issues with them. It cost him his last two jobs and I expect it will cost him this one.

Except Jose himself. All about him when he wins, everyone else’s fault when we don’t.

Wonder if Chelsea wish they could’ve went back and sided with Jose over Hazard and co?
No it's not. Those players are bigger than Chelsea. We operate differently to them.

It's funny that people think Pogba has no right to speak about Jose's performances, but Jose can trash any player he likes publicly, practice what you preah. It's also interesting that the framing of Pogba and Raiola as the "bad guys" in this, yet Pogba had no issues at Juve and left on good terms, where as Mourinho has lost the dressing room at his last two clubs.

Maybe both need to go, I can see the logic there as neither are showing a particularly good attitude, but to lose Pogba and keep Mourinho would be insanity, at least Pogba offers us something and under another manager could shine as he did for Juve and does for France, Jose has nothing left to offer United at this point.

Really good point.
There isnt a player more likeable, more sociable and more loved among teammates than Pogba. I mean the guy has a special handshake with everyone.
Everybody loves Pogba. Yet Mourinho burns bridges everywhere he goes and has fallen out with pretty much everyone and everywhere he's ever been. Its a rule for him, not an exception..

Yet Pogba is to blame...yeah right.

Because the biggest club in England isn't performing as well as expected, and Pogba clearly wants to be at a club that's on top. Mix that in with Raiola shit stirring and Mourinho being a twat then you've got media heaven.

If the club keeps chasing names, quick fixes, has no actual strategy in place, becomes a mercenary haven, this will continue. The club has to ask itself serious questions about identity.

They can both feck off. Neither of them are fit to represent the club in any capacity. Tired of this circus.

He is to blame for the shit he's saying and the fuss he's making. How do you know everybody loves him? Do you know all United players? Plus a Raiola as his agent.

This is why Bobby Charlton didn't want Jose here. And why SAF didn't promote Pogba. Club is turning into a pantomime. Need to get rid of them both, probably.

I wish Klopp would tell Henderson he'll never captain us again.

Really good point.

It's so weird, you'd think Mourinho was suddenly Bobby Robson and Pogba was some awful troublemaker and poison to his team.

Sounds like Mourino making early strides towards making his own position untenable.... to the point where he is sacked.

I think Pogba has a bit of attitude problem..a childlike or immature attitude which was perceived by Mouriniho as someone who is not serious.
but the word "never" may not be the best choice of words.

As a club legend, openly criticising youngsters coming through the reserve team, who are going to make mistakes and learn from them, is a disgrace. You can be unhappy with many things but taking it out on kids who are still developing isn't excusable. He was rightly shown the door afterwards, I'd like to see how you'd respond if you were 19 and someone highly respected at your place of work told the world you were shit at your job and you shouldn't be there. Lets see how well you'd respond.
IIRC He said that some of the overpaid stars need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror and that the young players coming through the ranks should be grateful to be where they are, and that they shouldn't think they've already made it. Exactly what they needed to hear at the time. His language was probably a bit more colourful but I'm paraphrasing here.

Me too. Can’t wait to see McTominay, Fellaini and Matic together

No but seriously - I questioned his attitude when he was flaunting on social media during bad periods and got shot down for it. It seems I was right in the hunch - his attitude seems to stink.

The Wolves performance sort of sums him up. Beautiful at times and then gets bullied for trying something stupid. He's not a benchmark for consistency or outlook.

We don't know if he is loved. You used to see him with Lukaku, you used to see him with Lingard, now Lingard is best buddies with Rashford. Not sure who is Pogba's friends now. Maybe it is everyone, maybe it is nobody.

Now that I can accept. However, i feel that he is the most natural choice to be captain because he's our most influential player since zlatan left, valencia is almost done, and none of our cbs are leaders. I dont believe the mantle was handed to him out of 'good will' or whatever tha tmeans.

Perhaps but, both he and his agent have been disrespectful towards the club for awhile now, starting with him and his agent offering him to City.

He's been disrespectful, disruptive, he hasn't performed to the level that we're told he has, in both his spells here, so many players in this league are far more influential and important and give more to the team than he does for us so, I'm not a fan. He's been more trouble than anything else for me.

Mourinho, whilst not having showered himself in glory, is doing everything he can to turn this club around. It's not working and it probably won't work but, I respect him for it.

I can't say the same about Pogba

Don't really get worked up over what goes on in the media over the week.

For me it's simply the player who I most enjoy watching in this team vs a manager who has delivered boring and unimaginative football. I hope Pogba comes out on top.

Mourinho is responsible for the shit he says as well, he's ran his mouth a lot over the last year and hasn't cared how many times he's shit on individual players or the team as a whole, even saying he'd have Sevilla players in the team over his own players after we lost to them, not once has he ever taken an iota of responsibility for his crappy management in many of our bad results, yet he expects nobody to speak up in defense of themselves or their fellow players ? It's a shit show from both but there is no good guy/bad guy or right and wrong here.

I've seen on his social media that he hangs out with the likes of De Gea, Lindelof and Fellaini.

When I read United in the news these days, the Benny Hill theme song just can't stop playing in my mind. Sigh

A public backing means nothing.

Combine that with a free reign to put a superstar brand player in his place and it means a lot. No chance Mourinho would stamp his authority on Pogba if his position wasn't fully secure. He's learned from the Casillas situation at Madrid.

Really good point.

Sarcasm?

Another piece of news meant to trash Pogba's reputation, but once again...name any other coach who has had an issue with Pogba's attitude? It's not as if he's played for easy-going types in Allegri, Conte, or Deschamps. The way the media works, I'll be very curious to see if there's any truth to this. What I do know is that Mourinho seems to be a bigger cancer than Pogba who is someone that's appreciated and loved by all of his teammates. I don't buy that none of them would have an issue being stripped of his role as captain when he basically said what most of them were thinking to begin with.

Time will tell if there's any truth to this. If it is, then in the words of Dr. Strange, we're in the end-game now.

Depressing to me that this probably indicates we're more willing to sell Pogba than we are to get rid of a manager who's looking very much like he's past his peak.
