We'll never get Poch - right now it's barely a step up. Our squad is arguably worse, and the main argument for him coming would normally be he'd get more to spend, but would he really get THAT much more? Why would he come, and don't give me that crap about the size of the club. He may as well see out more of this Spurs project, and wait for one of the proper big boys to come in.
Simeone would play worse football, but you could maybe argue he'd get more out of this current side. But again, why would he leave his current job? For the first time in his time at Atleti, they've really backed him financially, and they've put together one of the best squads in Europe. I'm expecting last 4 of the CL and a proper La Liga title push from them minimum this year.
Giggs has barely managed a game in his life still, as much as I'd love him to succeed, I think it'd be a car crash, same goes for any of the Class of 92 guys.
I'd be interested in Jardim, but he brings no guarantees of success at all. But I guess we're not really having any now anyway, at least we'd probably be entertained more by a team managed by him. Can't see Ed et al going for him though, he's not a big shiny name. For that reason alone I wouldn't be surprised if they went for a Löw or Luis Enrique you know...
Ancelotti, Pep, Klopp, Sarri all unattainable, I'd have wanted all of them at some point in the past, not sure about any of them now.
Don't rule Conte out either. It'd be suicide from the board's point of view, but he's a big name with recent PL-winning experience, weirder things have happened (Moyes).
I wouldn't be really surprised by Blanc either, given his history at the club, but I'd really rather not get him. He isn't a great coach and the football wouldn't improve that much either.
I'd love Allegri, but again, why would he chuck away the best squad he's assembled during his time at Juve, to come here?
Zidane is the front-runner, he fits everything that I'd imagine the board look for in a manager. He's a big name, charismatic guy, with great recent history of success. He's also out of a job, so we wouldn't have to buy him out of a contract and pay for any compensation. I have severe reservations however. Yes of course, he won his 3 CLs on the bounce, and that is not to be sniffed at, but he had a super-team. Looking at his league performances, especially last year's, raises some concerns. He wouldn't have Ronaldo, Bale, Isco, Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo or Carvajal here. We have 1 player who's even close to them in Pogba, and some would even argue against that, and even if he is around that level, he's playing nowhere near that level right now. Zizou has never had to build a side, and never had to manage a side so bereft of confidence and belief as ours, he'd be an enormous risk.
There isn't an obvious, standout candidate. For that reason, unless we're looking at a bottom-half finish (a la Chelsea 15/16), Jose will see out the rest of the season.
