It is probably because I'm now a middle aged man but christ on a bike I do despair sometimes at the things that people appear to be offended at now. People are free to get offended at stuff but let's not burn down the house just because somebody doesn't like the curtains.

When if you bothered to read my post I said let the developer behind the game choose the character not idiots like you crying if they don’t get their way. If red dead had a monkey or a pig as the lead character I could care less as long as the game is fun. It’s just a shame people like you don’t understand the word fun.

I haven't seen the documentary but a few of the responses here ("being teased on school with his catchphrases") made me support his removal. I think this article makes a really good case why he should not be removed.

I'd say that Twitter is a prime driver of the PC world we now live in. Me personally it's the first time I've heard the word 'snowpeople'. My grandkids still refer to them as snowmen, but they're all under the age of 4. Maybe a few more years of watching Cbeebies will put them right. I certainly agree though that it's totally laughable on both sides. Why would anyone get so upset over the gender distinction of a lump of snow ? & why would anyone give a f**k at those people wanting to change the terminology.
I was curious so I looked on Google Books and Archive.org and there are multiple books from the 70s and 80s (even a few earlier than that) calling them snowpeople.
I would agree that anyone getting offended about them being called "snowmen" would be being a bit silly as well, but this is even dumber than if that happened IMO. One person didn't use it and it's indoctrination worthy of articles and outrage.
In that context it’s fine. Snow people = snow men + snow women. Who hasn’t stuck a couple of extra snowballs on the chest of a snow man? So it makes sense that she talks about “snow people”
People who make acccusations of political correctness that isn’t there are just as annoying as people who get offended over shit that’s not worth getting offended about. I always find it really stupid when people complain about people doing specific things in a game where the whole point is you can do anything. Not to mention it's extra stupid when pretty much everything in the game is a negative thing. Like, "Oh tying people up and throwing them off cliffs or putting them on a railway track to get squished was fine, but this..."
Rockstar obviously have nothing to answer to and even the guy who made the video, taken in isolation (no idea what else he's done), has nothing to answer to.

Yeah those people are dickheads and the comments are shitty, but the article on the previous page is about Rockstar being criticized for it, it's not their fault that those idiots are saying those kinds of things. If the article was "People on Youtube video of video game say stupid things" then I would agree, but I think it's ridiculous for anybody to be blaming Rockstar for it and asking them to explain themselves.
Oh, I agree. I do think there's a story with the reactions to that option in the game, but the story isn't "how dare they put in that option."

My guess is that people who don't really know how games like Red Dead or GTA work think the game actually tasks you with killing a suffragette. That's not on Rockstar, though.

Look on the inside cover at what year was the book published. It ought to say 4.5 billion if they're gonna be consistent.
I'm probably missing something but they seem to have replace before christ with before the christian era. I can see it's a bit different but not a lot. I suspect it will change again before long.

Which is why most people I know who play a lot of games avoids defining themselves by it, because they don't want to be associated with the sociopaths who call everyone f*ggot and n****r and get angry at anything relating to women or minorities.
It's a form of identity politics although rather than identifying with such real world factors as class, race, sex and gender these nerds identify with nostalgia, fandom and consumer culture. So it's no wonder a ton of them turn out to be awful far right bigots.
