Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

I would say Brexit is far and away the biggest issue facing Britain for sixty years and it seemed pretty obvious to give that due weight to me.

I agree with you on the significance of Brexit but I think most people assumed it would be sorted out and just voted for their usual party. Essentially, British people cannot visualise a genuine crisis - the deep, deep sleep of England as Orwell called it.

How about yourself, do you wish you'd voted differently now?

If you voted Conservative or Labour you voted for Brexit, if you voted Lib Dem you voted against it. Simple.

Totally wrong on many counts.
You should know better than to make such sweeping generalisations.

How is it that whenever someone comes in here and questions having a second referendum or says the UK made their decision and should just get on with it, they always include "I was a staunch remainer, but now.."

He used the word elite and claimed he's a remainer in almost every post in this thread - so I'm guessing UKIP.;)

As per usual on this board....make up your own narrative to suit your own agenda. As it so happens I voted Lib Dem as I have in the last three elections. I actually campaigned for my local MP (our Norm) and thankfully he got in again. Without doubt they shot themselves in the foot for ditching their stance on tuition fees......but then what's new in politics. All I know is that in 2017 they were the only party in favour of remain.

As for those who have left these shores for life in another country.....I wish to high heaven they would actually leave instead of telling those of us left where we went or are going wrong.

Was watching some of those LBC videos on YouTube today and some of the people that call in to argue for Brexit

In my experience as someone who works in the public in a customer facing role I talk to a lot of people and I come across this so much. People that discuss this type of thing, I always ask the question of “What positive effect on your life will this have?” and people just genuinely don’t know what to say. It would be funny if it wasn’t so scary.

That’d be nice. Oh wait, thanks to this madness in less than 100 days I might actually suddenly become an illegal in the country I moved to perfectly legally as part of my EU citizenship. In the worst case scenario I could lose my right to work or even live here. So perhaps us Brits abroad might have a bit more to fecking lose than someone sitting at home complaining about how important it is to maintain some vague idea of democracy.

Try reading a manifesto or two before you vote next time. And be honest enough to admit it when you make a mistake.
Yeah it's pretty straightforwardly true.

Unless, Labour now pivot to a second referendum and campaign to remain.

"Believe me it'll get a lot worse"

If the EU wants to make you an illegal that is up to them. I hope that we extend citizenship to all EU nationals that have made their home in the UK. If the EU do not do the same then that will not be the UK's fault that will be down to EU countries being vindictive and petty.

Sorry but that’s bollocks. So far the UK has already cost the EU countries billions purely because of a UK only decision. And now we might crash out thanks to the utter ineptitude of the UK government and it’s inability to find consensus. Yet apparently it’s all the EU’s fault? Give me a break..

You just know that there's a big chunk of Leave voters who will blame the EU for everything bad that comes the UK's way in the next few years.

They already blame the EU for some areas of the UK being driven into poverty, whilst completely ignoring Tory cuts since they took over from Labour.

I expect it from that lot, but hearing it from a supposed Remain voter and Lib Dem is a bit much.

Freedom of speech hasn't yet stopped. I can criticise the UK all I like. Utter madness to expect something good to come out of it and even worse to accept it.

The EU will grant the same rights as the UK will.

If you hadn't noticed the only reason people like @Kentonio and millions of others may have problems is because of 17.4 million idiots decided to take their rights away and for what!

So Dick, you think know all about me ?
You know precisely FA.
Now go away and take your stupid comments with you. Bye.

Can anyone provide me some quick insight as to what could potentially happen/shifts to the UK by summer 2019? I am visiting family for a few weeks and will be in England, then visiting Scotland.

My quick assumption and understanding is that if Brexit continues to go ahead, then the transition period will be in full flow during summer 2019.

If the withdrawal agreement gets through Parliament in January, we'll be in the transition period by then. If it doesn't, there won't be a transition period, we'll just be out of Europe.

Your dollars will no doubt be worth more, whatever happens.

No. I'm still British and even if I wasn't I'm entitled to an opinion.

Great news for you and @oates an early Christmas present. Happy for you both. :)
Thanks, that's kind of you. The Italians are the first to make an official declaration on the rights of Brits. We got our residency sorted out in the autumn, it took a couple of months so we're glad it's done. We'll be back there in a month and we'll sit tight and see what happens next!

Thanks @RedSky obviously it has been a stress for us and @Penna put a lot of work into sorting out our Residency so that has proved worthwhile. It's no secret we love our lives in Italy and felt it was at threat so quite probably ours have been selfish aims.

But it is still causing many others a great deal of worry and seems to have done little for our country but tear it apart and tear people apart, families and colleagues think differently, ours do too but we've found it best not to argue with them but at times we've found it hard to believe they held such different ideals. Whatever the outcome it will take a lot of time to overcome our differences.

This is a baffling take. People who leave Britain don't necessarily leave forever and so will still be invested in what happens back home. Especially when they'll almost certainly have family who will be badly affected by Brexit.
