Angel Di Maria | Performances | Wife: "He only joined United for money. The food was disgusting. The women look like porcelain"

Tbf he was always a great player. Just wasn't interested in playing for us and was managed by a massive prick, who didn't exactly make it easy to play for him.
Not sure if he wasn't interested, or it was just very badly managed. He started great in the middle, being our best player for some matches. Then for some reason, LVG decided that he is a striker (while Rooney was playing in midfield). Then he got injured, and after the injury Van Gaal didn't give him a run of games. He still had something like 14 league assists though, many more than any other player in our team.

Rat faced cnut. I hope there's a hedgehog in his next pair of boxers.

Why is that? Aren't those things what makes supporting your football club that little bit more fun and amusing? It's not like our fans cheered as he snapped his tibia into two pieces or something.

So it's fun to cheer on someone else getting hurt? I don't understand this mentality from fans, you shouldn't lose morality over a sport.

Funny how former players always come back to Old Trafford & have a good game where as playing for us, they were rubbish. Baffling.

As i said, we should have just ignored him. Instead booing him and riling him up wasnt really smart. I dont care about that, some may like that on here, but i want to win football games, not give back to some ex players who barely played for us and neither side cares. He was pretty motivated in the second half, not as spineless as some thought.

Don't like him at all, but would have done the same if I was in his position. You cannot expect fans to boo a player all night, massively boo him while he gets injured, and then to be precious when he turns that to fans after making two assists.

Some of our players are wimps, should've wiped him out when he started showboating towards the end. Instead not a single challenge was put in

That inch-perfect cross for Mbappé

Nah, he didn't get hurt. And if you think a little bit of aggro and ironic cheering have no place in football then maybe football isn't the sport for you.

Thought he was class tonight to be fair to the lad.

Don’t know what some fans expect when he is getting booed etc. fair play to him

Let's cheer him on next time, maybe he'll be so grateful he'll lose concentration and play poorly.

Nope, just ignoring really. I hoped we would focus on us, but our fans were garbage, unless they wanted to boo him for some reason. Would have helped more if they sang and clapped and supported United instead of putting more effort in booing a player who played 15 games for us some years ago.

Handled himself brilliantly. We have some idiot fans.

I think he was boo'd because he's made nothing but unfavourable comments about us ever since hes left. Dont really remembner off the top of my head but i always got the feeling that he's had a chip on his shoulder for us, so he was always wanting to prove a point regardless of the boos. If our performance were better it could've rattled him if things didn't go so easy for them in the 2nd.

Even if you think his reaction was justified, which it probably was, telling a bunch of fans to "feck off" is anything but handling yourself well, the total opposite in fact.

It is when they're being cnuts and you just knocked their team out of the Champions League.

Nah. He was fine. Sections of the fans got what they deserved.

He's a great player who once played for us. I don't see the problem. He's quite irritating at times but he hasn't exactly hurt anyone at our club or slept with anyone's wife. He plays for another team now just move on ffs.

This. Signing him was pretty stupid in the first place as he wasn't interested in the slightest in playing for us. Honestly i was gutted at the time when people were over the moon with his signing. We should never sign a player no matter how talented he is if he doesn't want to be here.

Well it’s also very difficult to do, if not impossible. Unless, of course, you subscribe to the Sepp Blatter version of slavery. If a player doesn’t want to sign for you, he won’t.

Exactly. The bitterness is pathetic.

United aren’t the end all and be all for everyone. He didn’t want to be here, his attitude wasn’t great but let’s not act like LvG didn’t mess him around.

He left after a year and we got our money back on him nearly.

It’s neither handling yourself well or disgracing yourself. It’s cause and effect. You guys were giving it some, I told you to feck off. Perfectly normal, and nothing to see.

There are also very few mentions of those giving him stick for his reaction of the fact that the fans also threw a bottle at him.

It happened in Di Maria's case though. In the end we wasted our time to build a team and money etc. on him. We should stay away from these kind of transfers at all costs imo.

I knew Di Maria would come back to haunt United, he was brilliant and gave the fans exactly what they deserved.

Why did we deserve that? I know some booed him and some absolute idiot threw a water bottle at him or whatever, but by saying that we deserved that just makes you come across as a WUM.

And I'm sorry if it feels like I'm rubbing it in, but I've had to read a lot of shite talking on these forums about PSG having close to no chance against a revived United side. I don't mean any disrespect, I just think PSG couldn't have done much better than what they did under the circumstances.
I think you’re mistaking people believeing PSG having close to no chance with confidence and overconfidence. I can’t recall reading anything like that on here. If you’re offended enough by optimistic United fans to act the way you are then I’m not sure this is the right forum for you. Who do you support by the way? You should add whoever you support to the ‘support’ thing on your profile.

Yeah, telling the fans to feck off after also spending a year here showing total disrespect to the club. What a lad.

I don't have to do anything, I'm from Paris so of course I'd support PSG over United, but I've already said I support France and French players, hence why I'm on this forum because I support Pogba and Martial, and I enjoy United as a club and its supporters. If you can't see it's a good bit of banter between sports fans then maybe this isn't the forum for you either, and your first quote regarding Di Maria is plenty reasons enough to feel like United deserved to see Di Maria provide two assists to beat them. Sorry not everyone here is a United fan.

Why not show a bit of class though instead of coming with snide and bitter remarks directed towards United fans because some booed him (he kind of deserved that to be honest after his spell at the club). One guy threw a bottle, everyone else cannot be held accountable for that. Strange timing attempting what you call ‘banter’ after one of the most frustrating defeats in years. And for the record, it was clearly not banter. It seems like you were «offended» by the overconfidence among United fans, delighted when PSG won and just had to rub it in. I was quite far down (and still am) after the loss, mostly due to the feeling that if the ref was doing his job properly United would’ve been playing 11 against 10 for the majority of the game. Therefore it’s quite provocative reading posts like yours saying United fans got what they deserved etc.

Anyway, we’re derailing this thread. This belongs in the post match thread so if you want to reply to this please quote me and copy/paste it in that thread instead.

Di Maria signed for us but he didn't want to be here. PSG had FFP restrictions in summer 2014 - they even got fined - and Real wanted to get rid of him after James so he needed a place to stay for 1 year and get his move to PSG. All i say is avoid being this place.
