Our defending was such a mess under The Toxic One. Ole and his team have done a wonderful job improving this area of the team

Luke Shaw and Lindelof are locked in starters going forward. Find a top CB and an attacking RB this summer and we will be in great shape



Anyways, time to end this charade. Announce our new manager

Despite the histrionics by certain posters at halftime, and with the exception of the Lingard sub, I think that second half was hugely to his credit. Start of the season we would have folded and conceded sloppy goals when things were going to shit.

He's created a resilient, tough team that try and play football even when it's getting tough in two months. From where we were, and with some of the players he has to work with that's remarkable.

He'll get the job.
 
I hope he's given a massive transfer budget and is allowed to overhaul this squad. The effort and the way we play is fine, but we lack quality in a few areas. I'm feeling positive about the future if he can bring in players that fit the system
 
Ole did very well handling the freak injury situation today. It’s another strong game for him and adds to his case for the permanent job for me.

Winning would have been absolutely unreal. Drawing with a clean sheet against that Liverpool team is a good alternative result.
 
Deserves the job. We actually still looked better than Liverpool even though we'd lost 3 players.

Instilling the right mentality into this team. Should get a few seasons and a big transfer kitty and let's go.
 
The Lingard sub thing was the pits, but that aside he was great today and instilled a fantastic attitude in the team. Brilliant.

Give him the job, with a top DOF above him.
 
United look solid and focused under Ole. Very surprised by the impact he has had in such a short time. New manager bounce can’t explain it.
 
Situation with Lingard wasn't ideal, but it isn't like he would have just said to Lingard "go on the pitch, I don't care if you're injured". He would have asked if Lingard felt he was ready to go on at the time.
 
If that performance, against all odds, doesn't do it no easy win ever will!

The players are now playing for the badge … because he's explained the importance of this club to them!

I know they will never announce until the end of the season but … I hope it's his to lose now!
 
That's a rookie's mistake by Ole to bring on an unfit Lingard to play 70 minutes...
I think he wanted to sub off Rashford for Sanchez, so when Mata got injured, Ole was caught by surprise and made a costly mistake. But it does show that he doesn't trust Fred.

Tbh I'm a bit concerned about Palace on Wednesday, no Ander, no Matic, no Lingard, no Mata, and possibley no Rashford and Martial.

No, OGS' mistakes annoyed me in this game, a lot.

They were needless and will affect us for future matches. If OGS gets the credit for his good decisions, he should be criticized for awful decisions.

The guy is on trial as Man Utd manager ffs.

I'm relieved at the 0-0 - and the players deserve massive credit for stepping up and giving their all.

Pogba, Sanchez, Shaw particularly impressed.
 
For me he made two mistakes today. Sticking with 4312 formation while he could easily go with Alexis(Rashford)-Lukaku- Rashford(Alexis) attack in 433 formation.
And Lingard sub was huge mistake. Huge risk.
But with that squad to play even game with Liverpool is positive
 
Top performance by coaching team. The exactly same crew should continue next season.

Might have been one of the worlds' top sports medical specialist teams involved in that decision too at some point … I guess :angel:
 
The difference between a risk and a mistake is often hindsight. At the end of the day we didn't fold and we carried on trying to win it until the end. Came away with 2 points. Another test passed...

Some absolute weapons posting in this thread.

Did very little wrong today bar the Lingard choice. Tactically we were fine and could have stolen the win on another day. Seemed to get a big reaction from the players at half time too. He came out unscathed after some dreadful luck today.

Give him the job.

I think it's a bit rich to give OGS the credit for that today.

The players deserve the credit for today - it was OGS decisions that put them in that position.

He has turned the dressing room around, and he has produced some great performances, Chelsea being the highlight for me.

But I'm not giving him credit for that 0-0. It was the players grit and drive.

That’s not true at all. Fitness isn’t binary. You are not 100% to play or not fit at all. Most players are never at peak fitness. Fitness, rotation and selection is all about about risk management.

What Ole did was an unnecessary risk. If my car has had problems recently and broke down a few times, I might not mind using it to pop 5 minutes down the road to help an old relative, as it’s not a big deal if it fails again and the risk is worth taking. It would be pretty stupid to commit to a 300 mile trip though with it in that state, especially when my missus’ motor is comparable.

Lingard only needed to be deemed so fit, have a certain degree of reliability, to come on at the end should the situation warrant it. If it was low risk enough, if he was fit enough, to play 70 minutes, then he would have started. It wasn’t a tactial decision in all likelihood, was it?

Of course. The medical staff said a player was fit enough to go on the bench, the manager needed to bring him on. If people simply must point fingers at someone then point them at Rob Swire or whoever has replaced him as the head physio (oddly we don't seem to mention this on the website), that's who signed off on playing him.

I never got the impression that was the case. It's just that he's turned things around so dramatically that he's now a genuine option for the full time job.

Do you think the players would have played like this under Jose? The starting lineup was arguably the best we could have started with. Lukaku vs Sanchez is six of one, half a dozen of the other. Both are equally on very poor form. If today is not a plus for whether OGS should get the job I don’t know what is. The players stepped up for him and the club. We missed a couple of good chances which happens. Unlucky to not get all 3 points.
 
Thought we did great considering the circumstances, our response was quite good. Someone needs to point fingers regarding those injuries though, especially the Lingard situation.
 
Just coming here after the pool game to see what the next "moving goalpost challenge" Ole has to pass to get the job full time...
 
Was a bit miffed by the Lingard sub but I guess if he was ever to come on he had to be the 2nd sub. If Sanchez came on for Mata, then Lingard on for Rashford and then Lingard pulled up we'd be down to 10. I think the issue was even risking Jesse as sub in the first place, think Dalot needs to start to be used as an emergency winger.

Lingard was clearly deemed fit to play a part in today’s match. Medical staff will have confirmed this to Solskjaer and staff, with the probable acknowledgement that it wouldn’t be wise to play an entire game - hence he didn’t. Lingard’s body clearly wasn’t ready. It happens. It’s part and parcel of football.

I’m just pleased I wasn’t crying on like a baby about it in here. Not referencing you specifically, of course.

What a load of bollox. How did his decisions injure Matic, Mata, Herrera and Rashford?

And that’s ignoring the insistence of many to blame him for Lingard being injured too.

We had 3 players go off within 40 minutes and Rashford wasn’t fit either. Matic and Martial missing and having McTominay and a Pereira in midfield....bit of a miracle how average we made Liverpool look tbh.
