UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

It’s not a penalty. Neither was ours. You can’t defend with your arms literally against your side at all times, it’s nonsense.

"Doesn't matter if it's a shit rule, as long as it's applied consistently it's okay". Sigh.

Not this shit again  Didn't know he was magician who could predit the curve of the ball in less than a split second and then have the reaction to adjust as well. Fecking hell.
He knew where the ball was going since he had time to jump up and almost do a 360 when blocking the shot.
unless he does that at random tomes during the game mind.

We do tend to raise the roof on European nights, though.
When was the last that was the case? The atmosphere was dire against Sevilla last season and the same again against Juve and PSG this season too.

Everyone in the studio is gong to agree with Jenas. Just wait and see

He's a fine co-commentator, who's adjusting to a new world. You're kidding yourself if you believe anyone else in the game is any different.

So the other team should be punished because you go in with your arms up?

It's not a booking but it's a pen. The advantage was given to the correct team.

IMO if your arms aren't tight to the side of your body and it hits you it should be a penalty. That's the best way to do it and leaves no room for debate etc.

But no-one jumps or dives like that unless they're competing against Tom Daley.

It's as much the fault of the attacker hitting the arm than it is the fault of the defender having his arm there while trying to block the shot, but giving a penalty for that is a way too big advantage for the attacking team. It doesn't make sense at all and will ruin the art of defending.

City don't look too good after that pen miss

Jenas: "This is what Kane's brilliant at"

Cut to shot of Kane falling on his arse! Ha! Jenas you idiot.

"Doesn't matter if it's a shit rule, as long as it's applied consistently it's okay". Sigh.

It's two separate arguments.

The rule is currently a ratified law of football and it's being applied correctly and consistently where there is VAR available.

The law may or may not be suitable for purpose and its fair to argue this point.

Spurs pressing very well. State of Delph compared to every other City midfielder.

Then if they get an unfair advantage due to using their arms it's corrected with a pen. Whats the issue?

You don't apply a rule like that and it gets really subjective. I think the rule is fine, but players should only be booked if deliberate (so not sure why Rose was booked)

It's the attackers fault Rose went in like he did? :wenger:

Penalty - clear as day.

5 minutes into a 180 minute tie at 1-0 is far from over (but Porto are highly unlikely to get past us)...

There's a reason why I'm watching the Spurs/City game instead

As I said mate. Tie over. Porto are fecking useless.

What is even the point of Porto at this stage of the CL?

Notice how the liverpool fans are very concerned about this in a season where they've gotten away with a number of awful decisions.... makes you think doesn't it

Porto are a bloody disgrace

I agree with this. It should only be a card if its intentional.
