UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

Porto getting their pants pulled down by Liverpool again.

When was the last that was the case? The atmosphere was dire against Sevilla last season and the same again against Juve and PSG this season too.

If we can't create a deafening atmosphere in a CL QF tie against Barca, we're truly lost.

I think it'll be a great one, though.

How good are Porto?

Do you think they would struggle in the Europa against us, Chelsea or Napoli?

Liverpool are back on form now.

Expect them to be thrashing a lot of teams in the month or so, possibly included Chelsea.

Great game so far. Spurs well on top but can never rule City out of scoring a goal.. or 4.

Wow Kane missed a great chance, I thought Lukaku was the only striker around who misses chances? Or at least some geniuses constantly spout shit like that on here.

What’s the point of Porto?

Notice how the liverpool fans are very concerned about this in a season where they've gotten away with a number of awful decisions.... makes you think doesn't it
Makes you think what? I've consistently argued against this evolution of the handball rule over the years. Seem to remember a handball from Milner against Roma last season that was nowhere near a penalty as well, come to think of it.

I have no problem with Kuipers giving it, since it's the rule and at least I'm happy it's indeed applied consistently, but I simply don't agree with the rule. That picture above from Rose doesn't tell half the tale, you can't pinpoint such an action in a picture. And you can't possibly say what's a natural or unnatural position if you're trying to block a ball, what defending is all about after all. "He shouldn't go in like that because he risks giving away a penalty" is what will kill proper defending over time, and I hate to read things like that.

Without doubt a penalty. Rose's arm was so high and clearly was away from his body. City though, haven't convinced me in the champions league - they seem abit nervous in these knockout ties from what I've seen of the past few years. They'll probably only just manage to get through to the semis but watch them absolutely dick spurs in the league in a few weeks.

Liverpool will score 8 in their game.....state of Porto

Also I don't think that's a penalty in the Spurs game, Rose doesn't deliberating put his hand up to stop the ball. Anyone who has played the game knows you can't defend with your hands by your side with trying to block a shot

We're having the worst ever penalty check at the moment regarding "handball".

How good are Porto?

Do you think they would struggle in the Europa against us, Chelsea or Napoli?

Napoli/Chelsea could get through against a few of these CL quarter finalists, while Porto would struggle with quite a few of the Europa League quarter finalists.

Liverpool have an even more obvious handball.

Ref denies Porto a pen. Ridiculous.

Do you want football to become a handball championship?

Every little graze of the arm and people are begging for VAR penalites. Good job ruining football you morons.

"Doesn't matter if it's a shit rule, as long as it's applied consistently it's okay". Sigh.

Aye, this is redcafe's logic on the issue.

The rule is fecking pathetic. You can't keep your hands firmly by your sides at all times, especially when sliding. He's clearly not meaning to block it with his arm in that moment.

It needs serious change for when VAR comes in to the PL. No way should we be playing by this pathetic rule.

Think Liverpool's chances of winning the CL are very underrated. Hardly anyone's talking about it given they have an (understandable) obsession with winning the league.

Spurs lacking a quality in their passing and crossing. Been quite poor in that regard but get that sorted and they could hurt City.
