The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

Leeds are finishing 3rd no matter what (they play Ipswich who are bottom and terrible on teh last day).. Villa will finish 4th or 5th.. doesnt matter, they'll play the other team that finishes 4th/5th in the playoffs.

This was a pointless game..

Cheating to score was unnecessary. Getting a red before the playoffs was stupid. Bielsa doing his bit means nothing as this game means nothing.

Leeds just being leeds. What do people expect from them?

Never said that you did, but the goal is the main reason why Leeds then let them score surely? The more I watch it the more I don't even think Roberts ever intended to kick the ball out, why would you slow down, stop and wait a few seconds and then kick it out?
Like I say I've not seen why the red was given, did Bamford go down pretending he'd been hit? If so yeah that is really shitty. Is there anywhere that shows Bamford and the Villa players coming together?
Ah sorry must have misunderstood your post. I don't know he seems to acknowledge hitting it out.

Actually, just saw the video. Not sure the Leeds player was ever playing it out. He motioned for the other Leeds player to come back / stay onside and played the ball forward to him. There was no indication that he was playing it out at any point.

I hate it when our team puts it out without a whistle.. I cant pretend to be angry here. Villa should have defended it.

The red was 100% on Bamford and the ref. It'll be turned over.

Biesla what a man
Fair play to him. Cant think of any manager who would have done that. What was Terry arguing with Biesla for? He gave them the goal

In the last 10 seasons, Wilder has enjoyed promotion from the conference in 2010 with Oxford United, promotion from League Two with Northampton in 2016, promotion from League One with Sheffield Utd in 2017, and now promotion from the Championship with Sheffield Utd in 2019. So 4 promotions from different divisions in 10 seasons, and 3 promotions from all 3 football league divisions in the last 4 years.

The jobs he has done at Northampton and Sheffield Utd in particular have been miraculous. He has had the Midas touch so far, and I really hope that the club enjoy a productive summer transfer window and can hold their own in the Premier League next season.

I don't think Leeds have done much wrong here. Villa created all the mess for me.

Bielsa may have drawn all the sting from this. If he can sell it to his players that it was better than creating a load of resentment but that they were actually all done over, it might be good for them.

Jannson has great fighting spirit. I hope Leeds smash the Playoffs. They were best and most entertaining team this year.

The commentator on sky went overboard. Villa should play to the whistle next time rather than moaning.

Leeds did nothing wrong and I despise them.

A few years ago there was a similar situation in the CL and Luiz Adriano got a 3 games ban for breaching fair play rules.

This is complete different. In that game, game was stopped and they used it to score a goal after that( oppo team waited to get ball back).
This is rubbish. I would be so pissed if my team did what Leeds did after the goal. Goal is 100% in fair play rules. You play until ref stops play. Ridiculous stuff by Leeds and Bielsa.

From what I saw Kilch was marginally offside so if linesman had just flagged it would've stopped all of the nonsense that followed anyway.

Frankly, I’m shocked he hasn’t garnered more attention for vacant PL jobs. Much better risk than PL retreads.

Now is the time to walk away.

Luton and Barnsley promoted to the Championship after Sunderland and Portsmouth decided they want to do the play offs tonight.

Quite the story for Mick Harford. Took interim charge following Nathan Jones' departure to Stoke and has guided them to promotion with a game to spare. He was the one lumbered with the 30 point deduction a decade ago that saw them go down to non-league for a few seasons. That's sweet vindication for him I bet!
He doesn't want the job permanently, however.

League One play offs will be interesting. Portsmouth can be good but seem to capable of messing up. Charlton ending the season in top form, and Sunderland are a danger since they manage to keep games relatively close. I think they messed up promotion for this year, though. Ross not getting rave reviews there and I think both Pompey and Charlton are better than them.

Doncaster/Peterborough will surely just make up the numbers. Both way off the pace from the other three. It would be an upset if they won it all.

League Two has an interesting finale - 3rd place Mansfield and 4th place MK Dons duking it out for the final automatic spot against each other. Hoping the Stags win over franchise.

Also Bury went up to League One at the first time of asking for the Mancs here. I know they are a nearby club in that area!

Congratulations on the promotion, enjoy.

How's Henderson done? I've watched Championship highlights on ITV but doesn't give a true idea of performance.
He's superb. Had a couple heart in mouth moments but nothing to worry about. If he's not England #1 in the next few years I'll be shocked. Looks like you've got plenty of quality in the GK department

Sunderland have had 19 draws this season!? i thought they’d be a shoe in to come up automatically to the Championship. I can see them implode in the playoffs now.

Colchester currently sneaking into 7th right now in League Two. Beating Lincoln 0-3 who've been on holiday since clinching promotion and the title. That's coinciding nicely with Exeter drawing and Newport losing.

Sol Campbell will be hoping Swindon can hold on against Notts County it seems as they're losing. Still staying up by the skin of their ass!

MK Dons beating Mansfield 1-0 at half time. That's the battle for 3rd being decided.

It's gonna suck whoever ends up going down out of Macclesfield and Notts County. Unlike most people here I want Sol Campbell to do well. I'm actively rooting for him, and no matter what happens he has done a grand job with Macclesfield.

But it will be sad if a team as truly historic as Notts County get relegated out the Football League. I just don't want that for them.

And they're down. Horrific 2nd half against Swindon, but even a win would have relegated them since Macclesfield clawed back to a draw.
MK Dons edge Mansfield. They are thus promoted back to League One at their expense.

Newport scored in the 87th to deny Colchester a stunning late arrival into 7th. Exeter could not take advantage with all three points after a goalless draw at Forest Green.

Play offs are thus Mansfield v Newport County, and Forest Green Rovers v Tranmere.

Half time in the League One games and Doncaster are leading against Coventry, which means they are holding onto 6th over Darren Ferguson's Peterborough.

Relegation battle is interesting. Plymouth are winning their crunch game v Scunthorpe but Southend are unexpectedly beating Sunderland right now which relegates both Argyle and Scunthorpe. Walsall goalless against Shrewsbury when they need a win, a draw in the aforementioned game, and to better Southend's result to stay up.

Final game of the season today.
Sheffield United and Norwich already both up in the autos; both can still win it.
Derby, Boro and Bristol City fighting for that final playoff place.
