I'm still gunning for my Star Wars-esque ending where they have this big ceremony at King's Landing and Cersei gives medals to everyone. The Hound and The Mountain share a beer and Ghost rides about on Drogon. Then we see the camera follow a little black cable as it snakes through the crowd and eventually stops at Blackwater Bay. It's attached to a big cartoonish ACME detonator and GRRM jumps on it.

In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) is joined by CEO Duncan Drasdo and Financial Director Andy Green from the Manchester United Supporters Trust for a special episode on all things behind the scenes at Old Trafford including a brief history of MUST and their aims today, views on INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe so far, and the Old Trafford regeneration.
Doesn't he say something like 'the day will come when you think you are safe and your joy shall turn to ashes'....makes me think she might actually win an opening battle against Dany or do something that puts her in the winning position only for it to go very wrong

The hound is the best, along with Arya.
Tyrion is hilarious, and his bodyguard who hasn't been in the past few eps is pretty cool too.

Just watched that Unbridled Rage video on episode 3, and whilst I did enjoy episode 3 for the spectacle, watching the aforementioned video made me realize why it annoyed me so much on a plot/writing level.
It reeeeeeeked of The Walking Dead. I stopped watching that show a few years ago due to the dreadful, dreadful writing, dull setting, and even duller characters (that fat dude with the mullet triggered me).
Whilst I still fecking love the show, the walking dead esque turn in it's more recent writing, season 7 wight hunt episode included, has soured me a little.

An alright episode. GoT last few season has really gone down in quality for me personally. Now I totally understand why some people love these seasons but I never got into the whole white walker thing. Just childish humans vs zombies plot line -- doesn't do for me.

Nah, I reckon:
Bran is the mastermind. We get a big reveal at the end like with Doofy in Scary Movie. He gets up from his wheelchair, pops a wad of Sourleaf in his mouth, hops on a horse and fecks off into the sunset.
I finally watched it and I thought it was good but a few things confused me so I have some questions
1. How was Jon able to kill the dragon by shouting at it? Do we think cause he's a Targaryen that maybe he can subconsciously control the dragons and he was able to do it that way?
2. the red woman came back and lit all the do-traki swords on fire but I don't see how this is possible, she didn't even burn her hand doing it, same with the trench. There was no oil on the swords or anything, it all seems a bit silly to me. Plus metal need to be at 197 degrees Celsius to go on fire
3. Ok I get the do-traki running off into battle cause that's what they do best but if they hadn't their swords on fire what does everyone think the plan was? see I think they weren't gonna run in til that happened and were gonna instead wait for the undead to come and then split and go around the sides of them and maybe charge from there instead?
4. I think Arya killing him is cool and makes sense, she likely knew that weird tree area really well and I'd say she had already been hiding somewhere in it, i reckon they had a secret latch under him for her, or like out of the crypt or something, or maybe a gap in the wall she could hide in. Honestly there's so many ways she could've done it I'm super surprised at people thinking it's silly

Bran and the Night King were staring at each other a lot, also neither of them have any emotion beyond a smirk, so it seems obvious to me that Bran is new night king now, he wanted him dead so he could be the new one, I think in the next episode we will start to see his eyes go blue and horns on his head, maybe?

Discussing the first three episodes of season 8 in here.
Everything I expected to happen in the first half of this season was basically on point - save for a couple of things. I expected more Cersei for a start. But the Winterfell scenes were mostly talking which I expected they would be, Theon rescued Yara and headed to Winterfell, Cersei and Euron had a few scenes together with the Golden Company. I thought 'Winterfell' was good fun, but it was kinda clouded by this looming darkness that 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' really embraced. I think 'A Knight...' is the best episode they've done for a while that didn't involve an excellent battle set-piece to raise the overall opinion of the episode. I think you have to go back to something like season 5's 'High Sparrow' for an episode so low on incident to be so beautifully and tenderly written. Bryan Cogman knows his onions.
But despite its minor flaws (needed to be a little brighter, maybe needed one or two more character deaths), I really, really appreciated just how much 'The Long Night' took its time and then caught me completely off-guard. After the first two episodes I expected the Night King to take Winterfell, and I honestly thought the final battle would be in King's Landing, with a three-way conflict between the Northern Alliance, the Golden Company, and the Night King. But hey, I was totally wrong there, and I love that. Ever since Arya was given that dagger I've been wondering whether the show would be bold enough to deny Jon his moment of killing the Night King, and it turns out they were bold enough, so fair fecks to them.
And now it's going to be all about the throne, which wasn't really what I was anticipating or excited for when the season began, but it's what we have and I'm fine with that. To me, the Night King was always the bigger villain. He represented the view I thought the show was running with initially, that all the squabbling and back-stabbing over the throne was pointless when the Seven Kingdoms could be destroyed by an army with one leader and one purpose: death. The show (and some fans, to be fair) believes the opposite, that the Night King was always going to be defeated and that the true goal was to make sure Westeros has good rulers to create a fairer society for the future. Which, again, I'm not necessarily excited for, but I am intrigued because I haven't got a fecking clue where this is going now.
So there we are.

Yeah I mean, we should judge fighters when they're without impenetrable armor. I was quite impressed by how easy Oberyn made it look and how slow and cumbersome the mountain seemed. At least that's how I recall. Him no longer feeling pain is something I seem to have forgotten

Looking back over the last few pages I have seen a few supposed leaks being posted. I don't know whether this is intentional or some people have just guessed at their own time lines correctly.
Really miss those bloodbaths when one big character after another would get destroyed. These days we've got 'the biggest threat to mankind', zombie armies and ice kings yet they somehow came and went without killing anyone of note. I mean a zombie giant couldn't even kill a mouthy little girl without her revenge killing him in the process.
There's only been two really and that was the Red Wedding and the Sept of Baelor, wasn't it?
Jorah and Theon are characters of note, for me anyway. Definitely Theon, one of the best acted performances and best single character stories in the show.
I think the major deaths are supposed to be unexpected. Ned Stark, the Red wedding & Jon's stabbing are the major ones and they all feature Starks because we're not expecting major characters to get brutally murdered. None of their deaths were dignified either.
I've decided I actually like the latest episode now. Very well done considering it's a tv show.

A show like game of thrones is better if you view an episode a week. It let's everything you saw sink in over a week before the next episode. When you are binging you don't really get to think and analyze what happened. At least that's my view on it.
I feel the opposite: I remember the previous episodes in more detail when binge watching, so cross-episode developments are better to observe and hints/foreshadowing are easier to recognize. Watching 2-3 hours on end, or up to the point where you feel is a good point to take a break, is generally a lot more immersive to me than waiting days between episodes before returning to that universe.
I agree with this completely. Also makes it easier to accept episodes that progress the plot less than usual. You can still make good progression if the one afterwards happens to be a more decisive episode.

And yeah @Cina actually raises a good point. What exactly were the Dothraki going to do before the fire thing on their swords? Didn't look like they had dragon glass swords.
I thought they were dragon glass? Looked dark enough but I might be wrong.
