Player Awards 2019 | Luke Shaw wins

Martial never plays him in when he overlaps anyway. He always comes inside and ignores him
Probably a vicious circle.

Our team work in that regard is pathetic though, it’s something we need to improve in massively as it’s the best way to break a deep defence with 2nd/3rd man runs

Yep, that's how would I describe it too. Same if Lindelof won it too, I guess they didn't make any mistakes is the biggest accomplishment they made this year. Except Shaw's against Huddersfield, I would disqualify him automatically for lack of efffort for that goal, that was awful.
Yeah. It's annoying because Luke Shaw, after this season, won POTY. Itll go down in our history, when in reality, what the feck did he do? It just feels like a sham to give him the same award as the likes of Vidic, rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs, De Gea, etc. after this season which was purely average. Herrera a few years ago had a brilliant season and deserved it. Shaw winning it just feels wrong when he has so much to improve on, yet it might make him think hes basically made it.

Can’t believe they’ve gone for Leah Galton as a nominee. Had a decent end to the season but for most of it she was pretty average and couldn’t even get a game. Sigsworth, James, Green, Greenwood, Hanson probably all deserved to be in there instead of her.

Participation awards. Bet Lingard, Pogba, Rashford and the rest of these overhyped cnuts turn up and put the effort in for this shit.

Regardless, Shaw had been one of our best at playing passes in behind the defense for our forwards. Pogba is obviously #1 there, but after that its Mata and Shaw

In the champions league Shaw had 10 successful dribbles which is neck and neck with Pogba, joint 2nd behind Martial with 12. Shaw had the least unsuccessful dribbles of those 3.

In the premier league Shaw had 27 successful dribbles, which is 4th in the team after Pogba, Rashford and Martial. With 11 unsuccessful attempts while the other 3 had 3 times as many each...

If we look at what he does do, he contributes well to our attack. Its just not what people are used to from a leftback like Evra for example. Shaw is a good defensive leftback who can have a dribble and will play in a teammate behind the defense. And if the forward players have good movement and take their chances its just as good as a winger who is constantly overlapping

I'm on my phone and trying to work out who that is to the left of Greenwood. The more i zoom in, the more it looks like Patrick Trueman off Eastenders?

It sums up how bad the players have been this season when Shaw takes player's player of the year and it's hard to argue with it. He's been average at best.

Has won player of the month 2 or 3 times. He deserves it, but yes hardly exceptional.

I am surprised at that.
It is a little weird when you had people like Greenwood, Green, Sigsworth James and others perform consistently for the whole year.

Zelem probably deserved it to be fair. James might be a bigger better talent but Zelem is a much better team player currently and plays as a piece of the overall team.

It's the players who nominated the top three. Galton had had a few injuries, and came to us having hardly played for a year. Maybe they've been impressed by what's she's done to get back into action? She has finished the season well.

I won't say Katie Zelem as POTY was a foregone conclusion, but she was a foregone conclusion really :D

They should have cancelled this thing. City likely winning the league and the rest of the top 5 all in finals while we are giving awards to these useless feckers who can't score 2 goals against Huddersfield.

I don't know how people are actually enduring to watch this.

Only reason to watch this is if they have introduced a new award called Shame Of The Season, or Worst Player Of The Season or something. Now these will be worth voting on.

Congratulations to Chong and Greenwood. Well deserved! Womens team too. As for that other bunch, they think they are too good for the club. Horrible.
