Internationals June (Euro Qualifiers + Nations League Finals)

France were dire. Lloris is the only one who can walk off with his head held high.

France were crap but credit to Turkey who played brilliantly! Becoming quite a solid team these days.

They were good though.

But i have seen Turkey perform like this and then drop silly points away beause of playing horrible.

Until they don't correct their horrible performances away i can't say they are reliable.

Lot of times they always slip when it matters or when they are getting near to qualify for big tournament.

France aren't all that but Turkey are actually impressive, this generation is very good.
They improved a lot under Senol Gunes. And fecking Sousa Cintra sold Demiral for peanuts to a midtable club in Turkey, sold again for Sassuolo and there’s rumours about Juve being interested on him. Having stayed with us he would be the ideal solution to replace Mathieu or Coates.

What's your impression of Demiral?

Watched Sassuolo once this season, but didnt remember him. From what i have seen, i think he looks a good CB. The question is how consistent is he though.

Serie A has definitely some talented young CBs around worth looking into.

Took notice of him when he scored two goals from them some months ago. Seems to me that he got the mix of abilities and build to suit the modern game. Also, a good sign that he seldom needs to dive into tackles.
Given that we have so many scouts we should know about him, but seems like Juventus got an "agreement" over the first option with Sassuolo.

This stage doesn't matter at all. It's actually hard not to get into Euro. You can lose 2 or 3 games, no problem. All teams can have a bad day, I wouldn't dwell on it too much.

France's 442 setup got found out eventually. Seriously, they can't continue the charade for that long. That was my reason for not wanting Griezmann here because while he's one of the best in his role as a SS, such role is too difficult to accommodate at a top level, hence I would rather have a SS who can also play as a striker like Mbappe. He was actually poor on the wing in the match but we all know the wing isn't his best position, he should be playing as a striker but he's not Griezmann's ideal striker, if we factor in Griezmann into the equation.

Same applies to Dybala, it doesn't mean these players are not good enough (Like someone would start quoting me wrongly).

Would have been interested in seeing Rashford lead the line, can't be bothered to watch it now.

They should just give Kane a break ffs, he's clearly not fit. Rash might be injured too actually now that I think of it.

Yeah, he is injured.

Southgate never gets a lineup fully right. Always 1 or 2 players that shouldn't be first choice but sneak into the team. Kane should have been rested too. Pointless game to start him.

I'd have gone

Sterling Wilson Sancho

Barkley Rice Alli

Chilwell Maguire Gomez TAA

JLingz to score a hattrick, and sign new contract, 200k p/w.
Caf meltdown.
Seriously, didn't Southgate sad they want to end season on a high? That kinda means he wants to win this game.
Don't know about Swiss team. Is it their best first 11?

I'd really like to see us (England) go with a 4231 system.

Following the game against Netherlands, It was said the other day that we lack someone like De Jong in our team, who had the ability to control the game, which I agree with.

The panel said that having a Foden or Maddison would improve our build up play and passing out from the back, but to me, that is totally false. The aforementioned players play higher up than the likes of De Jong and wouldn't aid in helping our build up play.

That needs to come from one of our deeper midfielders. So the other day, we'd have been relying on either Delph or Rice to take on the role of deep-lying playmaker and niether one of them are that type of player.

Actually, I find myself scratching my head when thinking about who could actually fulfil this role for England, both long and short term.

Previously, we had Scholes and Carrick - the latter not being recognised anywhere near as much he should have been, in my opinion. The former often being played out of position to accomadate others.

Roll on a number of years, and we have a number of ball winnners/box to box players but no one who can orchestrate a game for us.

Closest I can think of, and half of these players don't even play for their club sides are:

Danny Drinkwater
Jonjo Shelvey
Lewis Cook
Nathaniel Chalobah
Sean Longstaff

Then you've got players who currently play higher up the pitch, who may have the atrributes to be dropped slightly deeper, such as Scholes and Carrick

Phil Foden
Mason Mount
Ross Barkley

Looking at that list shows just how much we're struggling in that department, and where we need to improve.

That said, we could always go the 'Liverpool' way and use energy in midfield, relying on the creativity to come from our full backs and front three.

Harry Winks seems to be the hope. I do actually think Foden will be DLP, pretty sure everyone at Man. City is saying he has similar qualities to David Silva who is certainly the sort of tempo player England lack.

Bigger problem is the end to end nature of English football dosen't really give time for these players to develop and breath so they either get bracketed as box to box attacking midfielders or purely defensive.

I like Winks.

Foden looks bang average to me.

Really looking forward to the final later.

Be interesting to see how Ronaldo decides to approach it, will he try and isolate De Ligt in the air? It's so hard to get anywhere against those two centre backs.

I hope Portugal set themselves up better than they did the other day. It does seem to me that Bruno, Felix and Bernardo Silva all naturally occupy the same space so its probably hard to get the best out of all of them.

Felix can't be deployed the same way. The position he was in appeared to make him so pointless against Switzerland. I don't know the player very well, but I can't imagine he plays on the shoulder of defenders twice his size for Benfica, he was always going to get bullied.

And as much as anything else, I can't wait for De Ligt and Bruno Fernandes to put an end to their sagas. Assuming that happens quite quickly after the match. Maybe I'm too optimistic.

Alexander-Arnold is like bringing a machine gun to a stick fight. His delivery is so so good.
