WWC19 | Final: USA v Netherlands

Hey 5 years ago, people including you would have laughed if someone said Tottenham have a chance to win the CL... 20-30 years is a long time in sports.

Club football is not comparable to international football. Takes a long time and genuine structural change to make a difference to the players a country can produce.

Have to root for England here, despite the inevitable "It's coming home" rubbish. But the yanks are just too smug and their USA USA chants annoy the hell out of me.

England is definitely capable of creating stuff upfront but USA's gegenpress seems has been very effective.

Oh my goodness thought it was certainly going to be a goal

Banter and Bantz :) It’s refreshing that although when the England men’s team play this place can get toxic, we’ve got a cracking Women’s World Cup semi on and we can for the for the most part keep it genial. Carry on lads!

I’m referring to all of it. We’re already seeing declining numbers across the board in high school, even at traditionally powerhouse programs.

High schools are suffering a dearth of recruits. Insurance carriers are terrified of potentially massive payouts and there's no way any HS could, in good conscience, raise assumption of the risk. The AAN are involved at all levels of the game as consultants. There will have to be sweeping changes or football will decline. Rugby too before much longer.

Could be a good second half. All that sportsmanship talk about the women’s game was horseshit  this is gonna boot right off.

Hope Solo scares me a little.
I'm glad it's not just me she scares. Although I'm not sure I mind her scaring me.

I wonder if they'd consider maybe lowering the crossbar a bit given the lack of height in the keepers. I've seen a few goals where they just simply couldn't reach it to save it despite being fairly close to them.

If you think when I was at school in the 90s zero girls played football and there were no girls teams in the area, if you look at the explosion in participation in the past 10 years and academies like City’s, I think in another 10 years we’ll have a much better side.

The growth even in the last 10 years has been massive.

 Good one. You're proper shit at men's football.

Good at women's because you take it way more seriously than anybody else and invest a ridiculous amount of money in to it (other countries are playing catch up) but that will never be the case with the men's game.

Enjoy these tournaments, it's the only success US FOOTBALL will get.
Ok so USA have massively improved over the Years. From 94 until now you can see the difference like night and day. One day they will be a good footballing nation though probably will still be a while but it has been and is a growing sport every year. England and other countries have been playing it for much longer so they are ahead obviously but eventually USA will get up there. They are producing better talents and will continue to do so. The biggest positive about the US is they truly can only go up.

This all while being the 3rd of 4th most watched and played sport in the country. If USA prioritized "Soccer" over Football and Basketball they would flourish they simply have too many top talents in the nation and also..Merica!:D

As for England I mean no offense England have been pretty shet for a long long time and coming from a country who has the best league in the world and the biggest clubs its quite sad. They look like a pub team against decent opposition for the better part of the last 15 years.

Dont know why the hate on US when they have one of the highest potentials in the future.

We should abdicate the final if we get there. No way we beat either of these.

She's got that weird kind of fake plastic smile with an underlying sense that she might at any second try and tear your head off.

Yep.

Right now, a good bit of our best female athletes play soccer.

When American football dies, I think you’ll see that happen with our male athletes.

I agree like I said they have one of the highest potentials. There are a lot of top athletes in the country and any Sport they prioritize they are simply the best in. Football Basketball Womans soccer In this case.

The only way is up for the US.
