Westminster Politics

Quoting from an era nearly 80 years ago and drawing conclusions about the current state of the Conservative part is borderline insane.
The last decade mean nothing to you as well ? Historically the tory party is against the welfare state. Why did you vote tory ?

Didn't Cameron already do that?
Doubt he even thought all this would happen. Nobody in their right mind thought people would vote Brexit, then it just rolled on from there. Everybody with their own agenda, that is both sides of the house. They have all been a disgrace. All looking out for themselves and their careers and profiles rather than what is good for the country.

They really, really don't. Their shrinking of the welfare state however does impact on some of the most vulnerable.
Their policies would suggest otherwise.
Yes, it does impact on the most vulnerable doesn't it? Which was my point.

Full quote in Trumpese:

It got worse:
Trump notes that Nigel Farage is in the crowd for his speech to Turning Point USA. "I said 'what's Nigel doing here?' He's a little older than you folks. He's going to work well with Boris. They're going to do tremendous things."
He adds: "Boris is good. he'll do a good job."

Think this is the start of lots and lots of laughs.

I think it'll just be grim. He'll continue making an ass of himself and (some) people will continue liking him for reasons completely beyond my comprehension. The realisation hes a total clown will just never arrive to anyone who hasn't copped it yet.

I agree. He is our Trump and both are dangerous.
War with Iran anybody. Nothing like a war to get some people excited.

My brain's just an endless unhinged rant about Cameron, May and our racist fecking media orgs (beeb very much included) for causing/enabling this.

I'll get to being scared and depressed about it soon enough but I'm just on disgust at the moment.

Not sure an ex journalist who once wrote a “why we should leave” and a “why we should remain” column on the same day for a Brexit opinion piece would strike you as a bloke who is open and honest about where he stands on anything.

We know he's a clown and a racist. Now that he's PM he can't hide from his gaffes and repugnant views. He'll either surprise us all or be run out of office.

Hopefully the start of the fall of the Tories.

It's the only way to leave with an agreement. Hopefully people will stop calling it May's deal and call it the Withdrawal Agreement.

Or more accurately again calling it "the financial settlement to commence trade negotiations".

It's very much May's deal though because it was negotiated within her rigidly fixed red lines. Another PM with a more flexible approach could have negotiated something much different.

I expect to see that stance quickly reversed when she's faced with a prospect of a Tory + TBP coalition for no deal Brexit in the event of a general election.

Damaging as the last coalition was for the Lib Dems and sceptical as they might be about entering a new one, they might actually deliver on their flagship policy this time round. Which will increase rather than decrease their popularity.

And assurance of citizens rights and that the UK won't break the GFA. It is only a stepping stone to the next phase after all

As per above I don't see what else could be different, the rest of it comes later after phase 1 is completed. May had no choice if the UK weren't to stay in the CU or SM, those are the red lines as they are Corbyn's and if you kept the SM and CU there's no point in leaving.

I think it's all hilarious.

Doesn't matter who's in charge, country has been a joke for a long time.

Might aswell go down memorably and hilariously.

I don't think he will do too bad a job anyway, atleast he has the balls to change things up.
