I really really wish we could put 17m brexiteers on an island, stick cameras on every street corner, bus stop and tube station, and just watch what happens for a couple of decades. It would make great TV. Too bad there's ~47m others along for the ride and the cameras are closed circuit

It was a UK wide vote, for the UK, not for the nation's that make up the UK.

It's fairly simple, as members of the UK and the EU, Northern Irish and by extension Northern Ireland voted to remain within the EU.

I'm hearing tentative noises that Sinn Fein MP's are preparing local snap polls requesting permission to temporarily vacate their abstentionism mandate and sit. Not sure how much difference it would make without a unity figure to rally around who can get a majority for temporary government. Corbyn is useless and I suspect Cummings will hold off a GE until after exit date.

From memory it was the initial proposition made by the EU, which led to the UK proposing the backstop.
That's because of the DUP, I suspect their influence is going to disappear soon be it through general election or just running out of time to avoid no deal.
You really think? It would certainly be an initial step towards a united Ireland if it did happen, and as you said would put NI in a very good position. I think the main problem with it is it'll cost the UK a lot of money to implement, and if they're already out with no deal by then, they probably won't want to spend the money while the EU spends nothing.

I think it will probably end up that way yeah. It's the only plausible way I can imagine a brexit deal working.

Yes, the effect on jobs is worrying, but try telling some hard up families who may have been relying on their property going up in value as they near retirement that a drop of any amount is not seismic.
Any family that would struggle with a 3% drop in their house price are already struggling and probably can't really afford that particular house.

Nothing wrong with what he said although i don't know why he bothered saying it. A house price drop benefits more young families than it hits at the other end anyway.
You're misunderstanding what he's trying to say. Jobs are the key, prices are secondary because someone without a job can't afford anything regardless of the price.
