He is young and has plenty of time to go get a big job. I think he is in a perfect job where he can experiment and try new things without the added pressure of winning trophies.

His career will only take a hit coming to United. He has never worked at a big club so probably does not realise expectations either.

That's such a throw-away claim. Given what Nagelsmann has done at his young age (there isn't a coach under 40 in both Serie A and the PL, in La Liga it's only Diego Martinez at Granada) I would be surprised if there is a top club in Europe that doesn't track him in some way.

It's hard to tell what would be the biggest surprise out of these three.

Bit like Klopp going to Liverpool? There was plenty ‘safer’ options. Some managers don’t just go to the richest/easiest jobs.

United is a monster of a job, can you imagine being the one to turn it around? He’ll certainly believe he can!

Klopp was older and was out of a job taking a break

Liverpool was the safe option, if you follow Klopp those are the challenges he likes.

He probably think he can, same what Ole thought, Jose thought but looking at where we are now and where Leipzig are, I am pretty sure he will not leave.

Yeah, I don't buy it at all. The timing is completely wrong.
 
Knowing Woodward he's probably looking through United's Ferguson replacement list from 2001.
 
I can't claim to have followed Nagelsmann's career too closely, but I know enough to believe that he will be on the radar for most, if not all of the top clubs.

A manager making such a good impression at a young age is going to attract attention, and his progress will be followed by the top teams who have the sense to be aware of what is happening elsewhere.

He may be a good shout for the next United manager, it's certainly becoming a trend through the English game to go German in the dugout in recent years, to mixed success. But i cant see him coming if Ole was to get sacked during this season. Just cant see it being in keeping with how he conducted himself for his move to Leipzig.
 
So is he any good or just another flash in the pan like AVB, Marcos Silva etc?
 
My prediction:
He willl stay at RBL for a few more years before he will join either one of BVB/Bayern before he will make the move to another league and coach something like PSG/City/Barca et al.
 
Would sack Ole today if we could get him but don't see it happening at this point of time

Would be a very exciting appointment. Though as most have already said, i doubt he'd be interested at this point in his career and at this point in our demise.
 
I would love to see Nagelsmann at United. I liked and like his teams in the German Bundesliga a lot. And they play really nice football. The big question is, if this would be the right move for him to come to United. He likes to work with young players, which he can do at Leipzig currently. And I think with the RB-Millions the sky seems to be the limit for them. It was always written that Bayern Munich would love to have him in a few years time, and Dortmund as well. So it will be very interesting to see, where he will be going in the future.

What impressed me a lot about him: He once had a rough few months with Hoffenheim were he got criticized a lot. But he got them out there and never looked back afterwards. A few weeks ago a friend of mine sent me a video of him where he is talking about coaching. What he can prepare his team and himself for at matchdays. Seems to truly studying the game. If you get the chance to watch that video (I saw it in German..) do it! I liked it a lot.

Not sure about PSG/City but I agree about him staying at Leipzig a few more years before joining Bayern.

Right now Leipzig is the perfect fit with their youth approach and using Salzburg as a feeder club.
 
Bring him in and give him atleast 2-3 years to settle and bring his players in. He was a long time coach at Hoffenheim before becoming the manager so the players knew and he knew them as well, he was able to make an impact there instantly.

Give him time to bring in his own players, he shouldn't ask for a lot given that he's worked with lesser teams and made them very competitive. So he can definitely work with lesser players and help us regain some respect, like Klopp did with Pool in his first two years, before eventually launching a challenge.

No other place I'd want to see Julian manage, other than German national team ofcourse :D

If we had a top class coach with genuine potential I believe that most United fans wouldn't mind being patient for 3 years.

I think the Utd job is absolutely beautiful for a manager with a lot of great ideas. He would get money, time and of course would get a very good backing from the Utd fans who probably would love him when they would see the changes in set up and playing style under him. I think we could get him.

Exactly. It was obvious Moyes wasn't good enough to manage a top club, same with Ole. LvG was well past it and his methods were outdated, and Mourinho is Mourinho, you always get 2 or 3 years before he implodes. If we got someone like Klopp with Pool or Poch with Spurs where you could see a steady improvement in the squad, style of play and results over 3 or 4 years then Utd fans would happily wait. We haven't gotten that from our last four managers though, they've generally all tended to get progressively worse.

Judging by other commenters it isn't likely that Nagelsmann would leave RB so early but people are really underselling the appeal of the United job, for an ambitious manager the idea of being the man to take United back to the top must be very alluring. Even if we are a bit of a mess upstairs.
 
I don’t know whether or not it would be a remote possibility to bring him here in the summer, but that’s not the main thing, we need to make sure we are his preferred next destination, whether it would be next summer or in 3 years, just like Man City did with Pep.

What fecked us the most post SAF retirement, was that there was literally no proactive plan behind the scenes to sort out his successor way before he was about to step down, which was inevitable.
I was under the impression that surely we were talking with people like Pep, Jose or Ancelotti (back then) in advance, about one of them succeeding SAF, turns out there was no such a plan in place, good one Gill and co, good one!

Lets learn from this mistake, and going by the rumors about Nagelsmann, we did learn from it.
Cannot think of a more fitting manager to continue and complete the dreaded rebuild we’ve began, and make us a serious force again in the future.

ED, please for the love of all the gods, don’t feck this one up, some forward and long term planning will do us a world of good, get all the groundwork done and prepare the club to be in the best state for Nagelsmann to take over and make us a fecking force.
