Had a mask test in hospital today because they'll be redeploying people around to help different specialties (in particular A&E and Medicine) in due course. I failed it because of my cheekbones. There was a breach in the mask as it's a one-size fits all type of thing - a lot of people have failed it because I think it's made for people with more fuller faces. This means the only way I can work in the frontline is if I wear those proper Hazmat suits - which is annoying because I really wanted to do my bit and help in A&E to be honest.
In other news in our hospital, a registrar has now developed a fever and a dry cough and was told to isolate today. Yesterday he saw 20+ patients in clinic. I was also on call with him on Tuesday. It's getting desperate already and the real shit hasn't even hit our hospitals yet. Wales seems to be a good week behind England with Covid cases.
Hearing some frightening stories from friends who work in hospitals across England though. As a doctor, I just feel that this is all a bad dream and we're about to wake up from it. The shit will hit the fan. I'm just fortunate that I'm at a fairly proactive (rather than a reactive) hospital who are trying to get as much planning in place before we lose vital staffing due to illness.
I'd like to know what they consider an "illness". Does it only take into account the medical issues such as chronic respiratory diseases, or diabetes, or cardiac issues or immunosuppressed conditions? May be skewed.

I’m queuing outside my local pharmacy for a prescription. They had to close between 3-5.30 because they’ve been overwhelmed. There’s a queue behind me about 30 people long and it’s barely hit Bristol yet.
