This is a very inconvenient time to put the US military in the western Pacific on high alert, for a variety of reasons.
TR is obviously out of action at this minute, sitting in Guam. But as the Captain said in his letter, they could still be operational if it was truly needed. I think that idea is what would apply to most of the military. Not that I think the US will really do anything about this.

I think in normal times a mainstream US administration would move some pieces and posture a bit. I think even under this pandemic a mainstream administration might do a bit of posturing. But this administration is notably incapable of doing 2 things at once, so I think they're going to let it slide regardless of what the people who care about this at the Pentagon or State Dept might think (not that those people are necessarily right, but just that they would usually present views that the president would consider and might act on).
Watch him get well in a couple of weeks now..

I reckon if Kimmy goes, it'll be split between Russia & China... can't see it continuing as is and his siblings or whoever is heir to the throne would hold even less weight than he does.

He's a heavy smoker and drinker and he's become grossly obese. He eats rich food and has gout. He doesn't have a good family history health-wise. He's a prime candidate for a stroke or heart attack, quite honestly, even at his age.Wait what the feck, he's younger than me?

Think he would appoint kim's sister to be head of state (who happens to be his daughter in law i think)
Probably works for both of them - it gives his rule legitimacy in terms of the family dynasty and it gives her the head of state role
At least in the short term - no doubt a lot of internal politiking and power plays in the background
provided the offer the Ryugyong to be Trump tower Pyongyang or some other ridiculously superficial thing to stroke trumps ego I think he wont care - and provided there isnt mass starvation and immigration (especially during a CV19 pandemic) Xi will not care

Here's hoping they have a long and successful reign rather than us rushing to the next Leader. Kim Jong Die Hard with a Vengeance might cause more issues.
China will take care of North Koreans, whoever next in line would bow down to China and you can't blame them, who's feeding them? The west with all the sanctions?
New leader would probably opens up a bit with promise of more liberal measures, orders would be maintained, because a coup d'etat would serve nobody if the Chinese didn't green light the succession. you'd be left as a head of an empty starving state.
There won't be mass exodus, china won't allow that. Feeding N.Koreans are an easy task for China, she'll keep them well fed and quiet across the border. Grease the leader with promise that he can keep his seat. Military would play along, because that's the only way they can keep their luxurious life. Life will goes on.
