SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

https://www.fpm.org.uk/blog/does-sars-cov-2-cause-a-vascular-disease/

This is interesting (blog posted on Faculty website that I’m a member of) Probably need to be a medic (or some sort of life science qualification) to understand it.

Basic premise is that this might be completely different disease to SARS/MERS, which primarily attack the airways in the lungs. It’s possible that this spares the airways but wrecks the tiny blood vessels that surround them. Which has big implications for treatment options.

What implications? Can you explain?

What implications? Can you explain?

It gets a bit complicated but the short version is that - if this theory is true - it changes the type of drug that might help treat very sick patients. Specifically, the drugs that are being developed try to stop the overactive immune response which kills a lot of people Makes no difference to the drugs being developed to kill the virus.

What I haven’t heard about is whether Sweden has a higher % of elderly in care homes than their neighbours. This might explain a lot, if so.

I can't speak for the other Nordic countries but Sweden not only has care homes but kind of designated elderly areas in amongst regular society and communities. So say a block of apartments with solely elderly people/couples living independently, strategically placed close to local amenities (shop, cafe, pharmacy, walking area etc) which could and likely is a contributing factor in the difficulty of protecting them. In fact, policies in place to protect them from isolation in regular society could have been the double edged sword that led to it being difficult to isolate them during a pandemic.

Mixed bag in the US today...overall cases are on the decline, but if you remove the epicenter of NY/NJ they are about level. Some states that opened back up early are spiking, but not all. If you use May 1st as on average the time ‘lockdown’ eased and 2 weeks after that as ‘phase 2’ of reopening (as was the case in cities like mine) where activity really started back up, I think you need to see 2-4 weeks more of data to get a better picture of where we’re at.

Reuter’s Graphs

Bit emotional here right now, news like that makes all the sacrifices worthwhile.

Amazing, especially when Leo was out partying in Phoenix park Yesterday, it would have looked so bad had people died whilst he was drinking.

Tomorrow will probably be more realistic numbers.

Not 100% sure if you’re serious but the reaction on social media to him having an afternoon off to relax was fecking toe-curling.

Is there any truth to mindset that this could become endemic, but at the same time become weaker and less life threatening with mutations?

I have seen speculation about it “burning out”, but I can’t see how that makes any sense.

Is the best hope not that it mutates into a weaker disease and we just live with it like we do with the various other cold and flu viruses?

He broke three of his own rules,

1. Having a Picnic when the government said No picnics.

2. Traveling to a holiday home on April 9th when his government said no traveling to holiday holmes on April 7th.

3. Non Essential travel.

And no, I'm not joking, I expect deaths to be back tomorrow.

Northern Ireland had 8 deaths today, but Ireland with over twice the population had none?

1. There is no rule about picnics
2. He travelled to his residence
3. This travel was in order to work (from home). We have always been allowed to travel if we’re essential workers. If anybody in the country has a job that is considered essential, you’d have to admit the Taoiseach probably fits the bill.

Is your last question rhetorical? The answer is yes.

1 )

2) Leo Varadkar told people not to go to holiday homes on April 7th He was at home on April 9th He went to his holiday home shortly after

3) Non-Essential Travel

Are you high? The biggest change in the Phase 1 of exiting lockdown was being able to meet up in groups of four, outdoors. Everyone’s been talking about this. Did you miss the memo?!

Yet Government advice today still says non-essential travel, they also said last week no Picnics, and it's highly debatable he even kept his 2m social distance.

He also left his home and went to a holiday home after the government banned travel to holiday homes.

ANOTHER powerful 'lockdown violator': Topless Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is caught having a picnic with his partner and two friends 'in breach of his distancing guidelines for public'
  • Leo Varadkar and partner Matt Barrett were filmed in Dublin's Phoenix Park
  • The Taoiseach has been living at the nearby Steward's Lodge in recent weeks
  • A top government official has urged people not to have picnics when they go out

3. The whole fecking country has been meeting with friends outdoors since Phase 1 started. How the feck do you not know this?

Why do I have to repeat myself? Why don’t you read the articles you’re posting. This is all in there!

Daily Mail articles. A powerful debating tool. You’ve got me there.

Man in having picnic shocker.

I really could not bring myself to care about this if I tried. And I also don't care if that was against CovidCharter 12-4/c §7.

How many different publications do I need to post about picnics?

'Please do your exercise and then go home': Government advises against picnics as restrictions ease

People are now allowed to meet friends or family outdoors in groups no bigger than four but the government has specifically asked people not to have a picnic if they are out exercising.

He left his normal residence after April 7th and moved into Stewards House in Farmleigh after the restrictions were introduced.

I know we can meet in groups of four but the government advice not to have picnics etc, Leo clearly is having a picnic and this is not essential travel.

I’m going to put you on ignore. You keep making the same stupid points and ignoring my answers. Re-read what I’ve said to you already. Feck it, you could even just try reading the articles you’re posting! Either way, this is like pulling teeth. I’m out.

Its really quite simple,

Did the Taoiseach have a picnic yes/no?

Did his government advice not to have picnics yes/no?

You previously pointed out how "coincidental" it was that there was a marked decrease in the Irish numbers just as the government were looking to move out of phase 1, somehow missing the fact that the decrease was perfectly in line with trends that had been established for weeks and weeks at that point.

If I had previously implied that there was something suspicious about the numbers in as demonstrably stupid a way as that, I think I would have been a lot slower to make the same demonstrably stupid point again. Kudos to you for not letting being wrong stop you from repeating yourself.

Hard to know if it is truth or not, but that seems to be the best bet from the leading scientists.

The zero deaths probably will go up over the next few days, mind you. Holohan said Monday’s numbers often low due to delay collating weekend deaths. You’re dead right that you could see this coming. The median age of the cases reported in May has been decades younger than March/April. So that was bound to have a big effect on mortality. Although, more young sick people might cause ITUs to stop emptying out. Hopefully not.

I’m really curious to see what happens with cases next week. Phase 1 loosening of restrictions won’t affect the stats until next Monday, at the earliest.

Said this would happen.

They can't get essential community services to provide a basic function to people desperately in need of help, but it's ok for someone to open up a shop and sell you a selection of scented candles.

Feck off.
