Premier League Gameweek 30+31

That's one of the worst finishes I've seen in quite some time.

What the feck was that?

Was he trying to curl it in like Henry used to do?

Thing is he's not a bad player, he makes Newcastle look better when he plays vs say Carroll. Just can't finish to save his life. Welbeck syndrome.
I think he's he worst starting striker in the league.

Sharp wasn't a million miles away from connecting with that. Would've been a hell of a goal.

Newcastle looking really good here to be honest

I agree.

They've only won 5 at home all season. Often wondered if having 50k fans starved of seeing a trophy lifted for 50 years is a bit of a double edged sword for them as there's always a lot of tension in their home games.

Interested to see what results they get rest of the season at SJP.

The giant heaving "... fecking hell" from the bench when Norwood gives another one back to Newcastle. :D

Not been a bad start so far but I assume anyone who bets on early goals in premier league games has already given up. Can't think of any game that's had one in first 20 minutes and very few in first half. Been same in other leagues.

I'm interested to see how the lack of a crowd affects all teams in the league really. As you say, it could be a blessing for some teams. Newcastle is definitely one team that it could benefit because their fans do get on their backs quite often when things are going to shit.

Saint-Maxim has got some serious ability, be some player if he gets it all together..

Palace yesterday but in general yes, teams have taken a while to settle back in and shake off the rust.

It's the only reason I'm holding out some hope that Villa might be able to do us a favour later.

ASM can pretty much beat any of these players one on one, since Joelinton can't score they pretty much need to give him the ball in the final third and ask him to run at them.

Between the halfway line and the box, he's one of the most exciting players in the league. As soon as he gets a sniff of the goal though, he shits the bed.

I think he's probably destined to continue being one of those 'moments of magic, but fecking frustrating to watch' players that Newcastle always seem to end up with.

Much like all the Newcastle players, even almiron took ages to get going and he only has 8 goals

Sheff United are really well drilled but my word they are shit to watch. They get points by being tough to play against. So much easier to defend with an extra defender. They'd be bottom half struggling to stay up playing with a 4 at the back.

Plenty of space in behind Sheff United which is promising for us. May well be a game Dan James can help influence at some point.

Nah he's better than the likes of Ben Arfa, he already can assist and play passes well. I remember watching Mane pre Southampton and that's exactly who he reminds me of in terms of play style. I think it'll be a real shame if he doesn't learn to add more goals since he already has the hard part in his play sorted.

There’s no excuse for a £40m striker only scoring 1 PL goal.

Have him at United?

Had to turn this off, I know people saying that the Bundesliga games were like farmers playing against each other but this is much much worse.

I'd be very surprised if their defensive line isn't 20 yards further back against us unfortunately.

I don't watch much Newcastle, but I've seen him look unplayable in bursts and then forgot he's on the pitch for the rest of the game. Of course that could easily be the result of the team he's playing for. Definitely an interesting prospect either way.

It’s easy to say that going off the behind closed door games. Don’t think we’re boring at all. This is a hard watch today though.

Yeah, I don't think you lot are Brazil '70 or anything, but it's definitely a more interesting watch with the marauding centre halves etc than all the other sides of a similar technical level who come up and play Pulis or Allardyce football.

I think Wolves are a very dry team to watch and they largely just went out and bought a Europa League level side.

Yeah usually you guys play better, youve been poor today though. Think Newcastle pace on the break with the two wide players has been catching you out. Also without Mcgoldrick or Mousset you seem to be lacking a bit of spark up front, and the commentators mentioned you're missing one of your CBs that usually does the overlapping runs.
