Premier League Gameweek 3

Mad how that can be given as a handball. The ball came from behind him and he jumped; you have to spread your arms to jump. Idiotic.
This is so childish. Handball rule + VAR is destroying football. Surely can't continue like this. I mean, the players and coaches are surely gonna put pressure to put an end to this charade?
VAR and new penalty rules are just sucking the fun out of the game. Has happened with united twice, once in our favour one against. I mean hate Jose as much we do, but how was that a penalty, he wasn't even looking at the ball.

I really wanted Spurs to drop points here, like all of us. But there's no way Dier can jump for the ball without raising his hands there and there's no way he could have known or gotten them out of the way in time since the ball was behind his fecking head.

The rules are an absolute disgrace, and they're killing football right now. This is an absolute joke of a decision, and I hope Jose doesnt' mince words while criticising the rule, not the referee.

VAR doesn’t make its own rules. Under the current rule “hand above shoulder height” it’s a penalty.
VAR isn’t a sentient being. They’ve made that rule to make VAR easier. It’s as clear as day and anyone who argues otherwise is an idiot.

Players will adapt to more stern rules, goalkeepers will adapt to more severe punishment for dancing off the line during penalties.

Patience.

In the mean time, goals goals goals!!

After Spurs had the that decision go against them and we won a game with a penalty given after the final whistle yesterday, you can be fecking certain that Spurs will get every single decision against us next week.

Well we seem to get a pen every game to bail ole out so what goes around comes around

That’s for offside

Yeah, I get that. But how was the shoulder being taken into account while drawing lines for the attacking players since he can't score with it? Luckily it was still not enough to call offside, but it would have been another farce if hand or shoulder were given offside.

You can't have ever played football if you think that.

Played since I could walk. Point im saying you can jump up without swinging your arms out like that.

Fact is it's a handball, it's the rule no matter how stupid it looks. Defenders just going to have to learn to defend without jumping blindly zero control of their arms.

what difference does Dier not looking at the ball make?
Intent isnt important.. Arm was out. It was a pen by the current interpretation of the rules..

If this wasn't.. neither was the Lindelof one..

I am waiting for almost all saved pens to be retaken because the keeper stepped out as well.. it'll be hilarious.
Yes in what we have seen growing up in football, neither was Lindelof's a penalty neither the yesterday's one was. It is just plain stupid.

Should players cut their arms then? Can't think you can jump with your arms stuck behind your shoulder all the time.

All players will just aim their shooting for arms then moan to VAR.

We will get punished by this at one point or another and it will be frustrating. As I said, with this it's better for each player to cut their arms if they want to continue playing.

Most of their fans on their forum are saying they missed ton of chances to kill it. Didn't watch the game to comment though.

Should have wrapped it up..............blame the ref all he wants but they should have killed that game off

The pathological negativity towards Mourinho on here is insane. You wouldn't think he won the last 3 trophies Utd had, and the highest league finish since Fergie left.

I’m not IFAB mate. I’m just telling you what the rules say. I agree it should be changed but as it stands today that’s a penalty.

Just in from BBC Live commentary:

"So, apparently, it wasn't Harry Kane getting sent off at the end. It was Spurs goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos. Rest easy, fantasy football players with the Tottenham striker."

Genius Mou subbing of his game winner at halftime. Masterclass.

Utd fans have short term memories. Next they will be trying to tell you that Ole is a better manager

People here are always better about any of our exs. It doesn't surprise me anymore. Some just can't move on.

“Clubs with big history’s and others”.

What’s he getting at there?
